Thanksgiving 2026 Thread

I had my very first organic September discussion today at work that didn't involve me deliberately invoking The Bers. We were talking about training dates, etc., and the first one comes up on September 3rd! It felt good to look at the calendar and see it out there just a few weeks away.

This might not make any sense because we talk about The Bers in this thread 24/7, but talking about it outside of this thread was like a big deal!!!

DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 79
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 18

Happy August TGIF! Today folks we move along and see that we have 104 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 79 days left until November and 18 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive in 4 days. It will be when we reach the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. That’s going to be major. It’s Friday folks so time for our Fun Fact Friday below!

It is thought that 53 Pilgrims and 90 Native Wampanoag Indians shared a meal which might have included eel, mussels, fish, goose, swan, seal, duck, deer and some vegetables.

Hmmm, very interesting. 143 guests? That’s quite a Thanksgiving. I guess if we got together at MMC we might get that kind of guest list. Didn’t know it was that big. I always pictured 20 people eating together not 143. I really wonder how they came up with that though. Like did they take attendance? I think Rich would probably want to sign in multiple times to get multiple meals with multiple names. Turkey friends it’s Friday so time for another weekend. And a summer weekend is coming. Eel, mussels, and SEAL for Thanksgiving? I mean, I guess if that’s all you have available, but that would be a hard pass for me today. It doesn’t help that my wife is allergic to shellfish.

The fish and the other varieties of birds listed there don’t sound so bad. And I love venison.
 
Yeah, I think I would skip the seafood (I'm including seal here), and stick to the birds and venison LOL.

Happy Mid-August! Today folks we move along and see that we have 103 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 78 days left until November and 17 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive on Tuesday. It will be the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I hope everyone is doing well to start off this weekend. It’s going to be a fun one for me, I hope. And I hope you have fun too this weekend. I had enough time off this summer so I’m ready to get back more into my routines regularly during the week but right now my focus is this current summer weekend we have right in front of us. The best to you my turkey friends. Enjoy your day and I hope you will check out the site all weekend long and this thread as well. It’s so much fun to come to the MMC every single day and I think we lose sight of that sometimes. Coming on here to talk to our friends and be able to talk about lives, and of course, all the Bers, Autumn and Holiday Season stuff we talk about all year long. Happy Saturday to all! Getting ready to go down and mow the grass at my Grandma's house, then do a little work on my F250 truck and then back home. I'm starting to get a little tired of mowing. I know we still have 3+ months of mowing here. At least when the heat dies down and there's not as much humidity, it's not so bad. Crazy when you realize we have already been mowing for nearly 5 months!

Happy Middle Day Of August! Today folks we move along and see that we have 102 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 77 days left until November and 16 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Summer Sweatfest with our next milestone set to arrive the day after tomorrow when we reach the 100-Day Marker till Thanksgiving. That’s big folks and will end our triple digits in this thread forever. Hard to believe that but it is 100% accurate. It’s Sunday folks so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. The Sunday Group has a very fun city trip planned with our favorite bakery, a 3D visiting outer space event, and dinner. Always a highlight for me when it comes to these city trips, we do. Very thankful we have made such a big part of our schedule though. I hope you are all doing well, my friends this Sunday. I hope your week went well and that you are looking forward to this 2nd half of the weekend. Enjoy your day my friends and make the most of your time with family and friends. If you’re just hanging alone or with a pet that’s always a good thing too. I’ve been resetting myself in my mind this weekend. It’s time friends. I love summer but I’m finally ready mentally to be in The Bers. I’m trying to look at these next 2 weeks as a preview/extension of The Bers. Have a great Middle Day Of August!​
 
Happy Sunday Morning, folks! I'm so glad I saw my Dad mowing grass yesterday evening because I would have had NO IDEA it was calling for so much rain today. Over an inch! I had already mowed at my Grandmas and was sort of tired, but I powered through because I knew that the back yard grass couldn't wait much longer.

It FEELS like a gloomy Autumn day here. Cool outside and steady rain now. I put my truck inside the garage this morning so it will be dry to work on later, and it FELT like Autumn with the cool breeze as the rain started moving in. And the warmest day this week is only 84. Good times ahead, for sure. I am so ready for September.

Our last triple digit count in this thread is scheduled for tomorrow. It’s Monday so time for our Weekly YouTube Day!



A fun kid’s clip today. Sometimes it is nice to have a quick post for a few minutes as the longer videos you may just not have time to watch the full thing. I think this addition of YouTube Day has been fun though this year. I’m glad we added it and rearranged our days a little bit. It feels like the perfect mixture now to me. Turkey friends yours truly has begun his first annual “Bers Preseason” today thanks to SS. I think I needed to find what worked for me and 2+ weeks before The Bers I think it’s time to treat it like we’re already in it (even though we aren’t). Trying to extend it a bit. Have a great 2nd Half Of August!​
 
Edge, you make my heart happy hearing that Fall Preseason has rubbed off on you to a degree. Who knows, one year you might start it on August 1st just like me. You want to know what's funny about this year's Fall Pre-Season? It's been so rainy that I haven't been able to decorate outside yet. I'm hoping that trend ends this weekend, because this is typically the time when I put my pumpkins and stuff outside. But we need the rain more.
