My grandma told me people used to order Thanksgiving turkey's when they picked up their current years bird at the butcher shop. If you didnt raise your own you had to plan ahead. At the time there wasnt enough wild turkeys to even hunt and my grandpa said it was illegal to.
So the turkey you ordered for the next year was actually raised on a farm till butchering time the following November.

Happy December Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 355 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 330 days left until November and 269 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Happy Holidays with our next milestone arriving in 5 days. It will be the only 350-Day Marker we have in this thread, and it will be to Thanksgiving, of course. I always say a count feels fresh till it’s 350 days to go so we still are in the freshest part of our count. It’s Saturday folks so time for the first half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I’m glad we are here. It’s been a hectic week at work and next week will be the same. But for today we get to relax a bit although I do have stuff to do around the house and still a little more decorating, we’re finishing up. But I’m mostly trying to low key it today because Sunday will be a long day (but fun and special day) in the city. Turkey friends I hope you are doing well on this Saturday and that you make the most out of this December Weekend. What a special time we are in and what a special place we are at. The best to you my friends and thank you for being here all week in this brand-new thread. We are 50 weeks until Coach’s Weekend again and it amazes me how I track back to that weekend and how seriously everything changed, and all this crazy stuff happened in a matter of 2 weeks. We move along in our Happy Holidays with our next milestone arriving in 5 days. It will be the only 350-Day Marker we have in this thread, and it will be to Thanksgiving, of course. I don’t think I need to spoil how many weeks that will be on Thursday. But boy it’s great we are still 50 weeks from Thanksgiving Week again. We get a full year to build to that week. It’s Sunday folks and time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. It’s an amazing feeling right now to be where we are. It’s a fresh start for our Thanksgiving Thread but fully into the Christmas Season now. The Sunday Group is heading to the city for our annual Christmas Trip with a play and dinner. It should be a fun day. It always is when we visit the city, but it is extra special this time of year, being in the holiday season. Turkey friends It’s hard to think back how everything felt different 2 weeks ago, but it did and I will always remember that about Coach’s Weekend. It is unreal to think we have another 50 weeks to get back to it though. The best to you all this Sunday and I hope you continue to make progress with your Christmas shopping. I mentioned it before, but we are really hoping that John gets his G-tube out next month so that we can have another "Thanksgiving"! He is making progress towards that goal and I know that he'll get there!

Some might say I’m a beginner in cooking period, but I am ok at it. But my brother and I have a funny cooking video we watch on Thanksgiving while we cut the turkey. The one I sent today is a cool beginner one you may want to watch, and it helps you kind of retrace your steps in how to start cutting a turkey.
