Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Lucy Thomas
Songwriters Hugh Martin and Ralph Blaine wrote the classic song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” for Judy Garland’s 1944 movie, Meet Me in St. Louis. It has been covered by literally thousands of artists over the decades. It was just released again by vocalist Lucy Thomas:
Lucy Thomas is an English singer and songwriter who launched her career as a contestant on The Voice Kids before releasing her debut album, Premiere, which featured renditions of famous musical numbers. Thomas was 14 when she first appeared on television, finishing as a semi-finalist on The Voice Kids in 2018.
Afterwards, she was signed to Cavendish Records, a new label, named after prestigious scientist Henry Cavendish, that specializes in classical crossover and musical theatre. Her debut album arrived the following year.
This rendition shows a lot of restraint and maturity by Thomas, who plays it straight in this recording. It makes for a strong contribution to our Christmas catalogue and we’re anxious to hear other Christmas releases Lucy may have in store.
