Good Morning, MMC~

Merry Friday!! TGIF!!

A typical day of work ahead, and errands that I didn’t get done yesterday.
Tonight will be be our traditional Pizza & movie/Netflix after our evening walk!

What are your weekend plans?

Tomorrow is my cousin’s baby shower, and hanging out with family afterwards.

Sunday I will catch up on laundry and hopefully get a little decorating in. We will see what time allows.

Wishing you all a wonderful start to your weekend!!

We will "join you" with a pizza supper this evening.

We are also in the midst of a laundry cycle. What wild weekenders we be...

TGIF!!! Calling for another wet weekend but at the least the temps will be down. They are calling for Sundays highs to be in the upper 70s ... I really want this weekend to go by super slow but I know my daughter wants it go by super fast. She leaves for camp Monday morning and will not be back until Friday late afternoon. I have never been away from her this long and she is not allowed to use her cell phone there. She is gonna be like :D and I am gonna be like :( I am planning on making a nice dinner/dessert for us Sunday night .. thinking about roasting a chicken and making some mini pies (pumpkin, blueberry and maybe cherry)....

I’m sorry to hear that you you didn’t get your kitten~sending hugs, friend.

Sorry to hear about the kitty....my neighbor a few houses down for me does rescue with kittens/cats. I can find out if she has any and put you in touch with her..let me know!

Good heavens, it sounds as though adopting a kitten is becoming as bureaucratic as adopting a child ... but the good news is that they are apparently being careful about making sure the prospective "parents" will be the right fit for the little feline. Good luck in your search for another adoptee. It may be that there's a kitten out there who especially needs you, and that's why you didn't get the first kitten.

So sorry to hear you didn't get the kitty. Hopefully another sweet baby comes along soon!! It can be so hard to adopt through a rescue. Our friends had one heck of a time trying to adopt a dog b/c they both work...even though she goes home for lunch every day! Really???
Have a great day xmas!

I'm sorry you didn't get the kitten!!! These rescue organizations are crazy now a days... some won't adopt out to you if you've never even had a cat or a dog before (how are you supposed to get one then!?), they want vet references, they won't adopt out to you a dog if you have a small yard, etc.. it is ridiculous! We tried rescuing a puppy and we were denied because at the time we were living in an apartment (super dog friendly, the apartment even had a dog park and hiking trails near by!) even though we were moving into a house in a month LOL! We ended up just going to a breeder to get our puppy... not sure that is really what the rescues want is it? Oh well!

Thank you. it was sad, we felt as though the air was let out of our balloon because we had been waiting on that little kitten for over a month. We had pictures and a video that we were looking at while we were waiting.

I'm sitting here shaking my head at the whole process of trying to adopt a rescue. We filled out the 4 page application, we had 2 of our friends, go thru an interview by rescue for us, they interviewed also our vet and asked about how we are taking care of our other rescues. They then set up a home inspection with us, to see where they will play, eat, drink, sleep, etc...

All of this, and we ended up losing the kitten we so much wanted, because apparently, they go by a first come/ first serve basis for the applications; with, an evaluation of all the applications to that date, to compare them with each other and then they select who they think is best for the rescue.

None of that was explained to us when we first received the application of the night that we held her and fell in love with her.

Please forgive me if I sound off base here, but to us, this whole process seems to be working against the need of adopting a rescue. Our thoughts are that there are so many cats and dogs out there in need of adoption, that could go to good homes and families, to give them a wonderful life, that this kind of in-depth investigation just deters folks from going thru the adoption process completely. I don't know, I may be wrong, but we sure do feel discouraged right about now.

Our first 2 kittens were rescues from (last Chance Rescue) in Maryland. When I went down there to visit my kids, we went to a PetSmart there (they work with Last Chance rescue). Our hearts just went out to both Kittens (Shiloh and Ariel) and we filled out the paperwork and took them home that very same evening from Maryland and drove them up to Connecticut where we spoil and Love them 24/7/365 and have given them a home to where they are safe and well taken care of. We take care of them and they also take care of us....

Isn't that how it is supposed to be?

I agree with you. They need to strike a balance between being careful and driving people away with excess paperwork and scrutiny.

(I didn't know your kitties are from Maryland! Why, they're practically family!)

How frustrating :(
The process seems to contradict the whole purpose of adopting a rescue.
I know their processes are in place for good reason, but it's a shame that so many pets do not get to their forever homes as a result of the vetting process.
Maybe because there are so many animals in need in comparison to the amount of people in rescue?
Again, I'm sorry friend. Thinking of you guys.

How are sweet Shiloh and Ariel? Harlowe and I are sending our love to them.

My daughter did this a few weeks ago!! It was her first time too and it was very strange not being able to talk to her (no cell phones allowed either) but when we picked her up, she was asking to go another week..lol She loved it.
Hope your daughter has a great time!!

That is so sad and frustrating! I'm sorry you had to wait that long only to be denied!! I used to volunteer for a shelter and was a foster parent for cats for awhile. Our shelter's waiting process for adoption was 2-3 days max! In fact, my husband and I are celebrating today because a year ago today we adopted our two youngest kittens Treacle and Stormy and brought them home that day!! (Btw, it is National Black Cat Appreciation day in case any of you have black cats! I have 2 and they are awesome!). I hope the right kitten comes along and the process is much smoother this time!

Hello all!
Sorry for my absence from the forums recently, just been busy.

School starts on Tuesday! I had the first full work day today; lots of meetings.

I am finished writing my thesis, I am just finalizing editing now and will submit it this weekend or the coming week. Then it is a waiting game to hear back for any other edits and approval. It is nice to be about done.

Well, everyone have a great day.

They sure are, probably closer to you than you would imagine. We adopted them from the same PetSmart in Westminster (Carroll County) about 7 months apart from each other. They are the best of buds.

♥️♥️ They are so beautiful!!

Happy Friday, Martine!!
Glad you are getting some much needed rain~
Hope work goes well today.
Fingers crossed that the full dose of Zzzquil helps you tonight!
Btw, have you ever tried any sleepy time tea?

It's another more holistic approach.
I sometimes put a little Lavender oil on my pillow, or in a diffuser. I am a firm believer in essential oils.

Hope you have a great day!

Lavender oil? Does that really help you get to sleep and or keep you asleep?

I suffer from time to time, where I cannot sleep more than a little bit at a time. It’s like, I’m so tired, I fall right to sleep, and then 3 hours later, I’m awake, then it’s the in and out game of sleep for the rest of the night. I wake up in the morning feeling so exhausted.

I’ve tried ambian, Xanax, and now I’m getting ready to try another med.
