I saw @The_Escalation mention Black Friday a few posts above. Even with people being excited that the pandemic is largely subsiding and they want a "normal" holiday shopping experience, do you really think Black Friday is really going to be a thing this year? I ask because even before the pandemic, around here things were pretty flat at our stores. So many retailers had opened up ON Thanksgiving day, that by the time Friday came, it was nearly non-existent. Much like a normal day!

If Black Friday is forever changed for good, I will miss it! My mom and my Grandma (when she was in better health), used to LOVE getting up early and going to the mall at like 5:00 in the morning to get in those lines! Really makes me miss the old days!
On the contrary, I think with a lot of large retailers being closed on Thanksgiving Day this year that Black Friday will make a triumphant return. Things might be a little different than before on the count of the pandemic, and said retailers could possibly limit the amount of customers allowed in the stores at one time, but like you said, people want a "normal" shopping experience this year after being quarantined all last year.

That being said, I'll still partake in Black Friday shopping online from the comfort of my own home. Getting up super early and standing in line has never been my thing. My wife's grandmother, on the other hand, will be among the first in line at Walmart on Black Friday morning.

Well, I bought a turkey today. going to practice my recipe for Thanksgiving next week. This will be the final practice run before the holiday.

Is it just me or is that oddly exciting?
I am so jealous...I have the hardest time finding a turkey!! But sounds like a great plan!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 139
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 115
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 54

Happy Summer TGIF! We made it to another Friday folks. And it's a summer one filled with downpours here. It's a heavy rain all night last night. Our 3 countdowns this rainy Friday morning are as follows: 139 days till Thanksgiving, 115 days till November, and 54 days till The Bers. Our next milestone? It will happen on Tuesday which is in 4 days and you can tell by looking above that it will be the "Final Fifty" to The Bers. Thank you CW for that great post yesterday. We enjoyed that video as always. Well folks I'm taking my 2nd full week off here next week so today is my last work day before 9 days off again. I had this in June and in July this year. It is definitely refreshing even though I love my job and miss it when I'm not there. But my job here in this thread will continue just like my last vacation. There is no stopping the Thanksgiving Thread right? It's funny how we post here everyday and when the thread starts we think we have tons of time (and we do) but it dwindles little by little. Luckily we still have a lot of time. But it's precious for sure. Have a great Summer TGIF!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 138
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 114
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 53

Happy Double Digits July! We have arrived at another weekend folks. As I mentioned I'm off now for 9 days but...not here in this countdown. We have 3 counts this morning as we always do (at least through the next 7 and a half weeks). We have the following: 138 days till Thanksgiving, 114 days till November, and 53 days till The Bers. Our next milestone is on Tuesday which is in 3 days and you can see it will be the "Final Fifty" till The Bers arrive. Amazing isn't it? I think that is when we realize it's getting all too real and that The Bers aren't as far away as they used to be. It's been a good week but I hope for all of you it will be an even better weekend. That is my wish. We had a stormy day on Friday AM but by the PM it was sunny out. Funny how things can change isn't it? And other than that I hope everyone had a great holiday earlier this week and are ready to enjoy the weekend. Even 4 day weeks seem long don't they? But Thanksgiving week for many is 3 days. Shorter. Such a special week. No wonder we countdown to it on Mondays. Have a great Double Digits July!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 137
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 113
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 52

Happy July Sunday! It's another day folks and a special one here as it's my mom's birthday. So we're having a party. She loves Thanksgiving and The Bers. And she would love these 3 countdowns as I know all of you will: 137 days till Thanksgiving, 113 days till November, and 52 days till The Bers. All 3 of those countdowns are hard not to love aren't they? They're all awesome that's why. Our next milestone will be in 2 days which is the day after tomorrow (some people call it "Tuesday"). It will be the Final Fifty when it comes to the countdown till The Bers. And that will certainly be a big milestone indeed. Those Final Fifty milestones really make the reality of the situation hit you. Our reality thankfully is we still have plenty of time to get ready for The Bers. But when the Final Fifty hits you realize it's time to start really planning and thinking about it a little more seriously. It's Sunday folks so I hope you all enjoy it. I hope you have had a great weekend and will continue to do so today. Have a great July Sunday!
