We picked up our first Halloween decoration this morning. It was appropriately a glow in the dark sign that says "It's Spooky Season" which is the term we love to use in here. I can't wait to decorate.
I ordered an RC tarantula that was on clearance and it came last night. Now I know why it was on clearance, but I will enjoy it anyway. It is all gray so I am thinking craft painting project is coming my way.

Good Morning, Halloween Friends! The last full week of August is now here! Nothing but fall vibes all around me, I am already thinking about how exciting it will feel this weekend knowing that The Bers is just waiting for us around the corner. I'm excited to have a three day weekend next weekend!

I have just a couple of more decorations to set out and I will be "complete" here! One of the last things I always do here is put the orange light bulb out on the front porch. I also have a giant metal pumpkin that is going outside either tonight or one night this week. It's been fun throughout the month of August to add a little more and a little more each week! Last year I started waiting until the 3rd week of the month to begin, but this year I just couldn't wait. I think I like my new tradition of starting slowly on August 1!

Have a great day, friends!

I love seeing all of the Code Orange and all of the Fall and Halloween and pumpkin things, but truthfully it has been harder for me to get into the spirit this year. Part of that is because of the stuff happening with my mother and how it's going to affect the holidays this year.

The other half is because it's just so dang hot. There's no end in sight to these over-100 degree temps, and there's still no rain in the forecast. Everything happening in the Gulf right now is too far south of us to bring any rain this way. I'm not wishing for any tropical storms or hurricanes, but I do wish for a few of those clouds to make their way over here.

Evening Halloween Fans! I hope your Monday has been going good. We are going to be ordering our tickets to Halloween events this week folks. We have our plan set out. I'm so excited. Hopefully we get the list we want. Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! And Happy Tuesday to all of you. Everything is easier once Monday is over. Tuesday you are still at the beginning of the week but somehow the time moves a little easier. You guys know the routine here. Wednesday is the day you start picking up steam, and it's "easy" after that as we head into the weekend. This week is special as it is the last full week of August. Next week we are all back home in The Bers.

My Tuesday Halloween thought for this week is thinking about how wonderful it is to go inside a place like Lowes or Home Depot now and enjoy all of the Halloween items on display, especially the big giant scarecrows and lawn statues. We are just a few weeks from being in truly special times there, when there is a mixture of all of the "Big 3" on display. If you were inside my head, If you added the smell of wood-smoke, along with those images of The Big 3, that is what my brain is like 24/7. And it's always autumn there. There's a special part of "town" in my brain that is always decorated for Christmas 24/7. And it's a wonderful place to be.

Have a great day, friends! I can feel the energy already from next week. We're just a few days away now from the beginning of the first ever special post series over in The Bers thread. What a truly magnificent time this will be!

Thank you. I wish I had good news, but unfortunately there hasn't been much change. She went to the doctor earlier this month, but the minute he started giving her the test for mental degradation, she got up and walked out. So things haven't been great lately.

I will post a much longer explanation, probably in the Offseason Thread, later on so as not to turn this thread into a downer.

My Tuesday Halloween thought for today is all about Harry Potter. Last night I was excitedly looking at the Universal Orlando website in anticipation of our Christmas trip next year, and I kept going back to all of their Harry Potter attractions. While we will be attending at Christmas time, I think I need another trip in the future to participate in their Halloween activities. One of the coolest things I saw was that Hogwarts has a special light show and overlay where Voldemort "takes over" for the evening, and so the castle takes on a dark, menacing look.

I didn't always associate Harry Potter with Halloween, but ever since coming to MMC and taking part in this thread and participating in the "Dark Arts Sundays" marathons, The Wizarding World has become intrinsically linked to the Halloween season and the Bers. The movies have entered my Halloween rotation during October, and September 1st, as we know, is "Hogwarts Day," as well as the first day of the Bers. It's just a shame that the Wizarding World didn't exist when I was a kid. I think I would have had loads of fun dressing up as some of the characters.

Since I've got HP on the brain today, I think I'll listen to some of the soundtracks during work.

Your head sounds like a wonderful place to be (of course a seasoned therapists might say you need help, but no one here will tell).

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Wednesday! You guys know that Wednesday is like my second favorite day of the week behind Friday of course. I love the transformation that Wednesday afternoons / evenings give you. It's a magical feeling, one even more magical today when we realize that we are just now NINE DAYS, mere single digits until being back home in The Bers.

And tomorrow will make it ONE week exactly until JOL Day #7. It will be the last JOL Day of the Non-Bers year, and the next to last JOL Day before Halloween / Halloween season is here.

We have now also entered into a 30's count on our way to October. The "Final" milestone day in this thread for the 2023 Halloween Countdown Season will be on Monday, September 11th, and that day will be 50 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN. We started this thread basically with 7 countdowns all in the triple digits. We have lost some along the way. We are down to five now and no counts with triple digits. We will be losing two more counts in the next two weeks. This is the reality here being deep in the Fall Pre-Season. "Our time" is just up ahead now.

Have a great day, friends!

Evening Halloween Fans! Hope all is well here in the middle of this week. It's pretty beautiful out here. 76 and sunny. Low humidity. Still working on ordering our Halloween tickets. Everyone just about confirmed. Happy Halloween!
