Evening Halloween Fans! It's the weekend. It's not Halloweekend. But what we got like 50 more to go till then? Just checking. But it's a big November weekend. And a big one where you start feeling things picking up. Happy Halloween!

As the ghosts and goblins gracefully retreated over a week ago, yielding the stage to the enchanting presence of the Christmas spirit, today unfolded into a captivating saga of festive transformation. Armed with tinsel and twinkling lights, I embarked on a decorating odyssey, weaving magic into every corner, until my space sparkled with the brilliance of yuletide joy – a dazzling spectacle, with 90% of my Christmas decorations now proudly on display!

Amid the splendor, a wistful pang for Halloween lingers, a fond remembrance of the spooky spectacles now tucked away in memory. Yet, like a well-worn holiday sweater, the cozy comforts of Christmas have returned, wrapping me in their warm embrace and effortlessly mending the void left by Halloween's departure.

The air, now infused with the aromatic symphony of apple and cinnamon, whispers promises of festive delights yet to unfold. Each ornament tells a tale, each string of lights a testament to the magic that resides in this season of merriment. As the calendar inches closer to Christmas day, the anticipation builds, and my space becomes a sanctuary of holiday cheer, beckoning all who enter to be swept away by the enchantment of this wondrous time.

In the embrace of this truly enchanting season, I am determined to relish every fleeting moment. Wishing each and every one of you a Merry Christmas filled with joy and warmth!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Day#2 of my 3 day weekend!

I do believe that today will be the very final time I mow. I did leaf cleanup last weekend in the back yard, and I probably have one or two more times just mulching up and cleaning up leaves, but this is it on mowing and trimming. It's getting too cold at night now, and the grass isn't growing back as fast as it did even a few weeks ago. So this might be it. I would be surprised if I have to do it beyond this weekend, but I hate when grass gets shaggy and long over the winter, so you never know.

No real movement to report on the countdowns this morning, but time marches on.

Have a great Saturday!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Sunday! We are standing on the doorstep now to "The Week Before". It feels amazing. There's Thanksgiving feels everywhere. It's almost impossible to NOT think about turkey time, which is now rapidly approaching!

We're just four days out now from a mini milestone, which is 350 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN that will be here on Thursday of this week. That's pretty cool when you think that Halloween 2024 is also on a Thursday. So around 50 Thursdays to go!

Have a great day, friends. Hope the weather is nice where you are and isn't too cold or hot!

I forgot we have a Leap Year in 2024, and Halloween will jump to a Thursday! Today, I need to put the last of the Halloween stuff away, I packed most of it up last weekend but haven't stowed them away yet.

I still see a few Halloween lights around town. These people are really holding on.

It is always difficult for me to go back to a spooky mindset during this time of the year. Even though I consider Halloween to be part of the “Christmas Triumvirate,” it seems that it works much better as the lead-in rather than a follow-through.

Still, my brain can’t stop pondering if there is a way to incorporate some of the Halloween goodness into even this jolly time of the year… If November 30th would work as some kind of special one-off “Christmas Jack o’ Lantern Day” where the scary ghost stories of Christmases long, long ago might get their chance in the spotlight. Or if there’s some other day or time during the Christmas season that might work better. I’ve found that it’s always best to let these things happen organically, which is why I’d never want to force it, but I certainly think there’s something there. I’m going to think on it a bit more.
I like the idea of November 30th being the "scary ghost stories of Christmases long, long ago" celebration. Probably needs a more jazzy name though. Historically ghost stories were such a part of the Christmas narrative.

Happy Monday Halloween Friends! We've arrived now at the beginning of "The week before". Folks, Thanksgiving is next week. November is roaring by, is it not?

The JOL Day count is finally out of the 80's. It's important to note that in these early days of November, that count is the biggest that it will be for the entire journey back. Once January arrives, it will never be farther out than 30/31 days since we made the decision last year to add a JOL Day in both February and June. The one exception being April and Halfoween. Halfoween stands in for JOL Day that month because the stakes are much, much higher being that it is officially Halfway to Halloween. I was thinking about those counts actually this morning!

We still have a "mini Milestone" coming up now in just three days. We still slowly, slowly, chase milestones but I do feel that the "pace" picks up just ever so slightly post Thanksgiving.

Let's enjoy "The Week Before", folks! Have a great day!

Evening Halloween Fans! It's amazing how the rest of the world outside of this thread doesn't care about Halloween anymore right now. But I do. You do. And WE do. And I've got enough Halloween candy to keep that spirit going. Happy Halloween!
You’re right, Edge. What a sobering thought. Halloween is all but forgotten to everyone else by now. I love that our beloved holidays are a year-round conversation on this site. It’s what makes this place special. And it’s never too early to think about next Halloween (and the 2024 Jack o’ Lantern Days as well)!

Hard to believe that we are almost 2 weeks out from Halloween and even harder to believe that tomorrow it will be 30 degrees warmer here than it was on Halloween. In fact, tomorrow's low is just a few degrees lower than the high was on the 31st!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Another day has started as we continue our march towards the weekend before Thanksgiving. What a magical time it will be!

In just two days we will reach 350 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN, which is just a little "mini milestone", but I always feel like that one, along with the 150 Days to Spooky Spring that we hit earlier in the month, are sort of "freebies", that give us a little cheer while we still are processing mentally the long road that we have back ahead of us. But we are exactly a week out today from 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN SEASON, which I feel is a big milestone. I've always felt like counts take on a different "speed" upon exiting the 300's. The 200's after that move at an improved pace. Down in the 100's and they feel almost busy. And everybody on this site I think feels like once a 100 day "seal" is broken, time moves like its been greased.

Have a wonderful day!

I know, but that is not that long ago but it feels so distant now. It is kind of crazy that Thanksgiving is next week. That short time between Halloween and Thanksgiving is really noticeable this year.

On my way home from the dentist this afternoon, I passed a house that was still in full-blown Halloween decorations glory. Brought a smile to my face. I wonder if they will leave it up until they replace it with Christmas.
Last night we passed a house in town who wasn’t ready to take down their giant 10 ft skeleton, so they put a pilgrim costume on it! My wife and I cracked up. I’ll have to drive by there again and snap a picture to share. It’s a stroke of genius (or laziness, maybe both).
