I ventured to my local Target store last night on a mission to snag some Halloween decor clearance items, but my quest yielded no results. On the bright side, I did manage to secure two huge bags of Halloween candy, marked down to a mere $5.99 from their original $19.99 price. As for the store's seasonal section, it's entirely decked out for Christmas, filling me with the holiday spirit, making me even more excited for the upcoming season.

With daylight savings time behind us, the local weather forecast predicts a week of sub-70-degree temperatures, and Thanksgiving is so close that I can almost smell the aroma of stuffing in the air. Mentally, I find myself in a significantly better place than I was just a few days ago.
That is great.

Dollar General was all out of Halloween toys, decor, party favors, etc... but did have candy left. I resisted!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's election day, and I'm off work. I've never been off on election day ever in my working career. It's refreshing. I'll be off again on Friday, and I'm really looking forward to a long weekend that really starts "The Week Before" Thanksgiving.

It's exactly two weeks today until our next milestone, that being the 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN SEASON marker. But before we can celebrate that, we have to ring in 350 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN, which arrives next Thursday! We always love Wednesdays and Thursdays in this thread, so that will be extra special!

Have a wonderful election day, friends!

It is always difficult for me to go back to a spooky mindset during this time of the year. Even though I consider Halloween to be part of the “Christmas Triumvirate,” it seems that it works much better as the lead-in rather than a follow-through.

Still, my brain can’t stop pondering if there is a way to incorporate some of the Halloween goodness into even this jolly time of the year… If November 30th would work as some kind of special one-off “Christmas Jack o’ Lantern Day” where the scary ghost stories of Christmases long, long ago might get their chance in the spotlight. Or if there’s some other day or time during the Christmas season that might work better. I’ve found that it’s always best to let these things happen organically, which is why I’d never want to force it, but I certainly think there’s something there. I’m going to think on it a bit more.

I always think of Halloween when I watch a version of a Christmas Carol. It is the one thing at Christmas that feels a little spooky. That would be a perfect watch for a Christmas O Latern Day.

That sounds like a fun idea! There are several scary and spooky Christmas movies out there that would certainly be appropriate for a Christmas-themed Jack-o'-Lantern Day. A few that come to mind are "Violent Night," "Scrooged," "Krampus," and "Black Christmas."

Truth be told, I have always considered in the back of my mind JOL Days in November and December, but I always don't follow through with them because I truly enjoy the "break" and focusing 100% on Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. A weak argument could be made for a December 31st JOL Day, but again, that is at the end of "the slog", there are still some Christmas feelings present, and I really do think they feel totally different after January 1 and that countdown is really moving again.

But like I say all the time here, I just post the countdowns on here, this is everyone's thread. If someone wanted to do a JOL Day in November or December, let me know how it goes, I am honestly curious how one would feel with most people's homes still lit up in full Christmas decor, I just truly believe the arrival of Christmas Season changes everything mentally and emotionally.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Wednesday! I always usually love Wednesdays because you can feel the slow transition beginning as you start approaching the weekend. I specifically enjoy Wednesdays at about 3:00 when the work day is winding down, and I start thinking "Wow, tomorrow we are just one day away from Friday!". You see, the life of someone who does 24/7 countdowns, we are ALWAYS counting down to something. But today is really like my Thursday since I am off on Friday.

Those counts are still stuck in the mud up there, it really feels like nothing is moving, we are about a week out from the next milestone, which is 350 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN, but truth be told I am not paying too much attention to chasing them right now. I want to really enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. I promise everybody the counts will look dramatically different when we are wrapping up December, they always catch me off guard.

Have a great Wednesday, friends!

Yeah, being in the Christmas season is such a dramatic change over being in Halloween season, and tonally it’s difficult to make a JOL Day work during this time of year. Like I said, if it happened organically, I’d welcome it, but I definitely am not going to force it to happen or try to shoehorn one in just for the sake of having one. January 1st is a completely different story though, and I am ready for that first JOL Day on the 31st of the month!

I used to do the same thing with Harry Potter, which as a series is so special to me. I used to try and not watch them over the holidays, but if they were on TV "organically" it let it rip because some of the movies do take place on Christmas, so I feel like that could "slide". Totally 100% understand.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Thursday to all. We're a week out now from hitting 350 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN. That's a mini milestone, and not a major one, but again, time is moving albeit very slowly here in the early early stages of the new countdown. You will see that our "Weeks" count has finally returned, since Halloween is on a Thursday next year. Just 46 more Thursdays to go until we are back in October, and 51 Thursdays until the big day! Wow that seems daunting.

The plastic pumpkins from outside were put away. It's been just a few days, but I miss them. It's full Christmas here now, save for what I call the "Halloween Memorial" that I have left up every year now since 2020 - I have a giant metal pumpkin, a scarecrow, and a ceramic cat that has a purple light shine on them. They set in a corner of one of the mulch beds outside, so Halloween sticks around for a little longer. I started doing it when this site made me realize just how much Halloween is a part of the Christmas buildup!

Have a great day, we are just a few days out now from "The Week Before" which is a mighty thing to Thanksgiving fans!

I love this! That’s a pretty brilliant idea and a nice way to honor Halloween even as the Bers leave it behind. I might need my own Halloween Memorial. We’ll see what my wife says…lol. ;)

Good Morning Halloween Friends! TGIF To everyone. Day #1 of my 3 day weekend. A quick glance at our counts above show that we are now within two weeks of hitting some milestones. Six days away from the "mini milestone" of 350 Days to Halloween, and just 11 days shy of hitting a bigger one, 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN SEASON.

That's how the counts move in this very, very early stage of our new thread. Really not a lot of point in watching them like a hawk like I normally do. That's reserved for once we get to very end of December and January. This might be one of the only times you ever hear me mention "January" as a month that shows progress lol, even though it feels like it's 6 weeks long. But that's a long time away!

Right now i'm enjoying the continual build towards Thanksgiving and Christmas Season, the latter of which is only TWO days away! Have a great day, friends!

You know what is just really weird? With Thanksgiving and Christmas fast approaching, it is almost comforting to me to see a countdown with plenty of days and milestones left to go. I’m sure that I will change my tune in January when time slows down again, though. At least by then the first JOL Day will only be 30 days away.

Most the Halloween decorations that I was still seeing seem to have disappeared, with a cold snap coming up I guess it was to be expected, but I am seeing more Thanksgiving decorations than I expected.
