I love the Turkey Trot! The local park here has one every Thanksgiving morning. I think i've done it going back as far as I can remember, with the exception of 2020. And here in late September, I can say that the trot is really right around the corner! Have a great Friday!

In honor of Tom Turkey Day I tried out another appetizer in my air fryer and I think it is the best one yet. So with only one more Tom Turkey Day left, I think Appsgiving will be homemade pizza and pepperoni bread, Stouffer's Mac and Cheese Bites, TGIF Poppers and then salami, cheese, and crackers.

Those apps sound great...I love these poppers too..so good!

Will be waiting for my invitation in the mail. Seriously, one of our local grocery stores is having their case lots sell this week so as well as stocking up on basics, I got the baking items that were on sale.
Getting the baking pantry stock-up done is a great feeling! I am a bit scared to see if the prices have jumped again, but I do love knowing I am ready to bake!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 61
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 34

Happy Autumn Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 61 days remaining until Thanksgiving & 34 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Tuesday when the spooky month of October arrives. It’s going to be big folks. We move along in our Awesome Autumn feeling well I hope on this Saturday. We begin our Quiet Weekend Period Part 2, and we feel good right? I hope so. It’s not a turkey weekend here. We are making some orange chicken though which is delicious. I do enjoy it. And it’s always good when I have some. Delicious. Turkey friends I hope your week went as well as you could have hoped for and that you enjoy a restful yet fun weekend ahead. Lots of turkey fans enjoy their weekends. Oh, I put up our November Calendar at work yesterday. And I put that we are leaving at Noon on Thanksgiving Eve. That’s a tradition we’ve been doing for over a decade. We technically never leave at noon but normally by 1PM or so. And I do say that is my favorite Workday of the Year. It’s a special feeling and even during Covid we went in to have our annual breakfast together. Turkey friends the best to you on the start of your weekend and I wish you a good first half. Have a great Autumn Weekend!

I think we close at noon on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and don't come back until the Monday after Black Friday. It's been nice to have those kind of days off during a special time of year.

Have a great 1st weekend of Autumn!

Good for you!!! Letting people know well in advance is a wonderful gift. About 10 years ago I had a boss who liked to "surprise" people with early release. It was impossible to predict. One year, I was sure he would let us leave early on the last day of work before we started our Christmas Break but oh no, he chose the day before that and called a meeting at 1:30 and let us go shortly after. I was so frustrated because I had a grocery order that was set for 4:00-5:00. It felt bad to be upset about something that should have been a treat but I didn't have any other errands to run and the weather wasn't great. When we left, the person who replaced him sent out an email on the first Monday of December and precisely outlined our workweeks for the entire month. I was so grateful!

Yesterday afternoon, I drove around and looked at the trees in all their glory. The quakies looked like they were gold dipped. It seems that our leaves are peaking a little early this season. I hope to make a different drive next weekend. We will see.

The college always closed at 12pm on Wednesday and reopened the following Monday. I usually took personal time for Wednesday morning or, some years, even Monday, Tues. and Wednesday morning. We faculty were only charged for the class time we missed, so the actual time off didn't amount to much. It was a very generous benefit. Adjuncts were more than happy to substitute and looked forward to making the extra money.

I was so fortunate to have that job. It was my dream job and I really appreciated all the time off after working in public accounting and bank auditing/management.

The first year I was there when I heard faculty's last day in the Fall semester was December 14 and we didn't come back until January 6, I had to call HR to make sure it was paid time off and it was.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 60
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 33

Happy Next To Last Day Of September! Today folks we move along and see that we have 60 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 33 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be when we reach the Arrival of October on Tuesday. We move along in our Awesome Autumn feeling good here with still 2 full days of September to go. We are also in the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. And we all feel good about it after a long week in this thread. Definitely some fun all week long and then some relaxation here in this thread on the weekends. Turkey friends are you ready for another big turning point week in front of us? We transition to the month of spooky things. One of my personal favorite months of the year. In fact, maybe my personal favorite month of the year. But I have to say September is really good. I mean really, really, really good. Did I emphasize that enough? Turkey friends I wish you well and hope you are enjoying your Sunday with family, friends, pets, good food, fun and relaxation. Or some combination of those at least. Turkey friends have a great Sunday and we’ll talk in the new week and on the final day of September tomorrow. We’ll start a new week of topics. Have a great Next To Last Day Of September!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 59
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 32

Happy September Finale! Today folks we move along and see that we have 59 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 32 days to go until November. Our next milestone arrives tomorrow as we begin October (the FINAL month before the month of Thanksgiving). Unreal. We move along in our Awesome Autumn here on the final day of September and a Monday with our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week. And today folks it stands at 8 weeks. That’s right. Like an 8 ball in pool. Magic #8. Well friends that’s how we begin our week but don’t worry as we will have plenty of other topics coming like we do every single week my friends. And we’ll get there one at a time. But first let’s simply make the most of our Monday and focus on the task at hand which is our last day of September. It’s sad when a Bers month ends isn’t it? But it’s hard to get too sad if you are a Halloween Fanatic like many of us are. Turkey friends I hope you gobble your way through your Monday and that you enjoyed your weekend. I wish you the best today and hope your week gets off to a great start. Turkey friends the best to you to start this brand new week. Stay positive on this Monday and enjoy that we are still in September for another day. Have a great September Finale!

I say the same thing over in the Halloween thread, but seeing a month / event down in a 30's count is surreal. And when we wake up and it's October tomorrow, that count is going to hammer home just how close we are. All of the good stuff is truly right around the corner now!

I hope everyone has a great day!
