DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 365

Good Evening Halloween Friends! Our 2025 Halloween Countdown thread is now up and running! You can see from the above that the main countdown is up and live! Over the next few days, I will add more and more countdowns daily as we begin the process of zeroing in to Autumn / Halloween Season 2025!

I started doing a Halloween Thread here in MMC in 2021, to compliment Edge's outstanding other group of threads that I feel really compliment the MMC experience. For the most part, we have experienced slow and steady growth over the past few years, although interestingly in 2025 we had a major drop off in posting. I still have to remind myself that we are a niche group on the biggest Christmas forum/site in the WORLD. I don't expect to ever see the kind of numbers that the main Christmas countdown gets.

Still though, we seem to have emphasized quality over quantity on this thread, and I really appreciate everyone who contributes. Here's a quick look at the post counts for the past few years:

2021- 1,915
2022- 2,045
2023- 2,182
2024- 1,950
2025 - 1,590

For anyone new to the thread joining us this year, or new to MMC in general, we take counting down VERY seriously. In fact, at times, it seems like counting down might be just as much fun as the actual holiday itself!

And the strategy, which is tried and true, year after year, 365 days a year, is to countdown little chunks at a time, instead of having a giant slog for a countdown. Our main countdowns focus on Autumn and Halloween season. With "Full" Countdowns at the beginning of the new countdown season, we are counting down to these significant times of the year:

Spooky Spring
Halfoween
Fall Preseason
The Bers
Halloween Season
October
Halloween

And if we look through the entire year as a whole, we have a Halloween/Autumn milestone to celebrate every month of the year. Don't believe me? Take a look at the below! Thanks to our very own @Rich for making this list

Also, for any brand new followers to the thread, let me take a moment to plug our special days / times throughout the countdown season:

JACK O LANTERN DAYS:

Beginning in January, at the end of the month, we celebrate "Jack O Lantern Day". I get out the electric Jack O Lantern, burn some fall/ pumpkin wax warmers / candles, and listen to my "Halloween Playlist" that day, before settling in for a mini horror movie marathon to wrap up the day. Some days when the weather cooperates, I even have a small fire in my outside fire pit. This is just my way of adding a little bit of Fall / Halloween to my life, during times in the year where I am really missing Fall. And it really helps. I think some of us here keep the same routine. We do this from January to September before finishing up in "Halloween Season" in September, having safely reached our destination. We originally only did JOL Days on each month that had a 31st, from January - August, but we "expanded" JOL Days due to popular demand.

SPOOKY SPRING:

Folks - Spooky Spring came about organically in 2021, and in 2022 we decided to plan for it and make it an annual tradition. A great addition to our all year long spooky activities. April is essentially the mirror image of October, and Spooky Spring is celebrated the entire month of April. Basically it is October in April. Scary movie marathons, pumpkin spice everything - Halloween decorations. The cool weather really sets the tone for the month and it leads us right into Halfoween, the grand celebration of reaching the half way point to Halloween.

FALL PRESEASON:

Fall Preseason begins on August 1st. It just seems to be the time that Summer merchandise, etc., seems to be going out of the stores and Fall items start showing up. It helps us mentally start to prepare for the arrival of true Autumn in September. My decorating begins the second week in August, and I'm usually decked out for Autumn by the end of that month!

FRIDAY THE 13th:

We will experience THREE Friday the 13ths in this new countdown thread. It is basically like a Jack O Lantern Day "cheat day", and I usually treat the day as an extra JOL Day and will exclusively watch the Friday the 13th movies! This year they occur in February, March, and November.

HALLOWEEN SEASON

The first day of Fall this coming year is Tuesday, September 22nd. The calendar beginning of Fall I think is a fine date to serve as our "official" start to Halloween Season. I say "official" because some people, myself included, might already be mentally doing Halloween season by late August / early September.

And that's it! Halloween in 2026 will be on a Saturday, so we will again have a true "Halloweekend". Saturday will also be the days that we post our "weeks" count. This place might be a little quiet the next few months as we soak into Christmas season, but we are making time here in the background, and before we all know it or want to admit it, we will be in a New Year and really begin the "hardcore" part of the chase / countdown.

Thank you again for everyone who joined us and who keeps coming back, and happy counting!

If anyone would like the link to The Ultimate Countdown List site where we track 166 different items, send me a message and I'll reply back with it. I don't want the link to get out in the regular forum threads where the search engines can get to it.

Good Morning *New* 2026 Halloween chasers and pumpkin people alike!

There's SEVEN full counts above once again, with an eighth count joining us beginning January 1st.

The next couple of days are firmly in the "Halloween Afterglow" period that we speak about so fondly. AMC is even having what they call a "Halloween Hangover" marathon all day long and showing some spooky movies.

The Halloween lights outside tonight get switched out for CHRISTMAS lights. Our Christmas Tree is up and ready to go.

I tell everyone every year this time, even though Halloween 2026 is a year away, and the start of Halloween Season 2026 is 10+ months away, the next two months of November and December are basically "free time". It's hard to "miss" anything, when you are in the thick of Christmas fun. And when we start hardcore chasing the countdowns again once Christmas 2025 is over, you will be surprised at how different those counts look. There are THREE counts that are well north of 300 days. One of those is going to enter the 200's before this new month is over. Another will hit 200's in very early December. Even if we feel like it's a big giant slog right now, time is moving, even if imperceptibly.

Have a great day! Enjoy your Halloween afterglow!

Hello Halloween Fans! I can't believe we are in a new thread for Halloween. It may be "over" but I'm still doing a couple of more Halloween type activities. And as usual I totally fell in love with the Halloween Season. Such a special time of year. Happy Halloween!

Halloween is down and put away outside. The icicle lights are up outside and will now shine the way through the rest of fall and the darkest part of winter. I'm hoping to get at least the next 70 days out of them, which would put me right in the 2nd weekend of January, which is usually when outside stuff is done / down, unless we get a snowstorm or something.

Halloween afterglow was very strong today!

Sad report out of our area today. Last night, a child in a neighboring town received a candy bar with a sewing needle stuck in it. I don’t believe the child or anyone else was hurt. Parents are pretty upset, understandably. This is why parties and trunk or treats are taking over Halloween.

Thank you for all you do with this thread.

All the Halloween is down, but the whole time I was taking it down, I was definitely mourning it just a little.

It hasn't "hit" me yet, but I'm sure it will once the pumpkins inside go away and the new week begins. It's an odd feeling, because nobody for the most part is unhappy during Christmas season, but I do kind of miss it in the bathrooms. I'm so fortunate for the special days here. I think if there was just a "hard stop" at the end of December, i would be absolutely miserable.

Happy Sunday Morning, Halloween Friends!

As you can see from our counts above, we have reached our first milestone day of the 2026 Halloween Countdown Season.

Here in the very early days of Christmas Season 2025, and coinciding with the last little bit of "Halloween Afterglow", the main focus in the back of my mind will be JOL Day #1, which falls in just 90 days, and of course Spooky Spring, which is 150 days from now.

Time is just kind of running in the background but it's moving just the same.

Today my chores are to take down the pumpkins and remaining Halloween decor inside, and get the Christmas lights up on the bushes outside.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are well on this Sunday. The Sunday Group is heading to the city for a Halloween escape room. I read yesterday that the second most celebrated holiday by adults is Halloween. Of course, Christmas is #1 but I think it shows that Halloween Season is for adults. Happy Halloween!

It's reassuring to know that when we arrive in 2026, Spooky Spring will be less than 100 days away. We need these minor holidays and events to get us through the non-Bers part of the year.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! The first full week of November is here now.

The counts are kind of on auto-pilot now for the next two months. Of course we will acknowledge the milestone days but I think the whole world has turned over to Christmas now lol. That's ok! This thread will still be here.

Our next milestone in this thread won't be until November 15th when we reach 350 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN!

Have a great day!

We had a great Halloween 2025 with hundreds of children, and support from our sheriff's office to keep vehicle movement reasonable (the main street here in Bellville is a state highway). I handed out several 300-piece bags worth of candy!

Everyone who had Halloween decorations have already taken them down. Nancy and I only put out Fall decorations this year, so we don't really have anything to change to setup for Thanksgiving.

I hope y'all have a great day! :)

I don't know if it's because of what you mentioned here, but there was a notable decrease in trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood this year. It worked out well for us, because our neighborhood gets crazy on Halloween, so this year we didn't have to fight any crowds of people on the way to grandma's house and back. Still, it was interesting to see a reduced turnout. I wonder if most people just did trunk or treats or other earlier Halloween activities this year.
