I think in all honesty, the very first batch of MMC Special Days (Rudolph Day, Tom Turkey Day, JOL Day) might be the most important of the entire year. They really sort of "set the tone" for me mentally.

If I had to put together a "top 3" for months to have special days, I would say:

Jan - 1st batch of MMC Special Days
March - Month of Hope, on the doorstep to Spooky Spring / Halfoween
May - "The Road" has opened up - 2nd half of the year and Autumn, Leon Day, just around the corner.

I'd be interested in hearing yours.
I would pretty much pick the same as you. There is just something so fresh about them in January and the actual holidays are so far off at that point.

I will say JOL days are my favorite special day of the three. I love them all but there is something I like a little bit more.
The JOL days leading up to Spooky Spring then leading to Halfoween really get me thru the first part of the year.

Happy 1st day after Christmas, Pumpkin People!

The 1st day after Christmas is over I think is the hardest. I'm going to try and stay busy today and over the weekend to try and "jump start" me through the first few days of "The Slog".

With Christmas 2025 now in the unfortunate rear view mirror, i can get back to really chasing these countdowns now. We can look at the countdowns this morning, do a quick comparison to what the counts looked like on 11/1/2025 - our first day of this 2026 Halloween Thread

Look at the changes! And they happened while all of us were knee-deep in Christmas Season! What's the most jarring one this morning in your opinion? I think the count for JOL Day #1 is pretty surprising. It was over 3 months away when we started this thread. And now it's happening in a little over a month. And seeing 364 days to Halloween seemed like forever, and now we are in single digits before we hit the 300 day milestone in less than two weeks!

So I'm sad to see Christmas go like I am every year, but look back through my posts from yesterday and you should understand why I'm more motivated than ever to chase these counts this year. I'm ready!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well. I type this to you from a snowy area tonight where it is going to snow...and snow...and snow some more tonight. Maybe 6 inches of snow or more. It's possible. Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Halloween Friends!

The very final weekend of December is now upon us. It's still bizarre writing that. I think it went too fast, like it always does. We're never happy to see Christmas go, but now, and especially when we break ground on the new year, we can really chase these countdowns again.

I'm happy with the numbers I see this morning - closing in now on a month until the first JOL Day of 2026, and NEXT SUNDAY we will see the 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN milestone!

And it's not really an "official" milestone per say, but we will witness 90 days to Spooky Spring on New Year's Day. That's awesome. That's obviously one of the major events / times I am thinking of as we get into the new year. I will discuss more in The Offseason Thread. It's almost time for my off-season planning session to begin!

Have a great Saturday, friends!

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well. It's a winter wonderland out there. We got 6 inches of snow last night. Everything is covered. Lots of shoveling this morning and I did some food shopping. Got stuff to do around the house and get Damian out in the snow for a bit. Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Pumpkin People! The very final Sunday of 2025 is here. Unbelievable.

Checking in on the milestones here - we are closing in on just 90 DAYS to SPOOKY SPRING, and we are now exactly one week away from reaching 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN. Fun Fact here - Next Sunday will be the very last time in this thread that we have a countdown in the 300's. That's not a typo. The first full day of new countdowns in this thread was November 1st, 2025. We had THREE counts that were all well north of 300 days. And when we start next week, there will be NONE!

Just a reminder that Christmas season helped us shave so much time off these counts and we didn't even realize it.

I hope everyone has a great day, and for anyone that wants to, please join me this evening over in the Offseason Thread as I lay out my plans for Rudolph Days 2026!!!

It will be a big boost to leave the 300s behind in all the Halloween counts. I forgot to pick up a box of pumpkin pancake/waffle mix to have for Jack O Lantern days, but I have plenty of time, maybe I'll make pumpkin bread to celebrate instead.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Today is the first day back to work for me after being off since before Christmas. To say it is probably going to feel brutal is an understatement. But on the plus side, there's only two full days of work this week, Wednesday is a half day, Thursday we are closed, and Friday is a half day.

Two major things are going to happen this week on the milestone front. 1st, we are going to see 90 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING on New Year's Day, and then on Sunday, we will be here for the very final 300 Day milestone in this thread, that being 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN.

And on an exciting note, I am over half-way through my "slog", and I'm still feeling good and motivated so far. I know it's still obviously very very early, and there is still quite a ways to go before anything major even pops up on the horizon, but I'm feeling the best I ever have felt during The Slog, so I'll take it.

Have a great day!

I think “the slog” hit early for me this year, since the weeks leading up to Christmas fell apart in multiple ways, so now the actual slog doesn’t feel much like a slog anymore. On the contrary, I’m feeling hopeful for the new year and excited to start with the countdowns and milestones again.

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well. It's a cloudy day here. We had some on and off rain showers. A real cold night is coming and then a pretty cold remainder of the year. It's been a very winter-like December. Happy Halloween!

I totally do feel this. Even as the final chips of collapse fell on Christmas Eve, there was a feeling that I had never had before, of feeling totally empowered and almost feeling like I was being called to lead for Christmas 2026.

I know it sounds silly, I am 41 years old and soon to be 42, and barely over three years into being a parent. There are some that would say, and I would agree, that at 40+ it is beyond time for me to make my own Christmas magic for my family. I do agree with that statement but I am also proud of myself for recognizing the "need".

I am extremely motivated at the moment. I do truly believe it will carry me through the rest of the "slog" and the dark part of winter. I'm building to something special this year, I can feel it down in my bones!

Good Morning Halloween Friends!

Monday is in the rear view mirror again and we are crawling our way into the New Year's inch by inch! It's New Year's Eve Eve today!

Looking at the counts above, we can see that we are now just two weeks out exactly from seeing the 200 DAYS TO FALL PRESEASON milestone. I've counted down to that date year after year but maybe just because of how everything went down with Christmas 2025, 200+ days seems a lot closer than "normal".

And don't forget that on Sunday, we will see a 300 day milestone for the very final time in this thread. The counts don't lie!

Have a great day friends!

Hooray for the bonus months! This is one of many reasons why I love the Halloween thread. By the time the Bers end and we start a new year, we are already out of the 300s on the way back to Halloween. It helps January not seem so bleak.

Happy New Year's Eve Pumpkin People!

The final day of "The Slog" is here. I missed getting into The Offseason Thread last night to lay out my visions for Jack O Lantern Days of 2026, so that definitely has to happen tonight especially since I'm off work early today, I have no excuses.

Tomorrow is New Year's Day and I just can't wait to be able to finally talk about everything in the present tense instead of the future tense. That's mentally a big game changer.

And tomorrow we will see only 90 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING. Not really an "official" milestone, but exciting none the less.

I hope everyone has a great day! I'll be on the boards later this evening to hopefully count down to the New Year, if I can stay awake!!
