So wild to think that here in not so many more days, we will be just ONE MONTH from Thanksgiving. A few organic conversations have popped up regarding Turkey Day, and I always get so excited.

Here at home, we haven't talked about our "menu" yet but I know it's coming. We're obviously going to have Turkey, that's a given. But maybe some things come back this year that we haven't eaten a lot of. Sometimes I get more excited about the sides than the turkey itself!

I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

I love the sides too!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 41
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 16

Happy Middle Day Of October! Today folks we move along and see that we have 41 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 16 days left until November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next double header of milestones set to arrive in less than 1 week. It will be our 11th Tom Turkey Day and the Home Stretch till November. It’s Friday folks so time for our Fun Fact Friday below!

Of the 102 people on the Mayflower only about half of them were what have traditionally come to be known as Pilgrims. The others, which are called “Strangers,” were just people hitching a ride to the New World.

Never knew that at all. We just always generalize and think we know everything and then you hear something like this and you’re like wow okay I didn’t know that. Not sure why they were called “Strangers” though. I wonder if the pilgrim would walk up to one of them and said “Hey stranger” but not in the same way we think of saying it to each other when we haven’t seen each other in a while. Gobble Gobble turkey friends. I hope you enjoy your day today. It’s Friday and we have a big autumn weekend in front of us. Have a great Middle Day Of October!

I believe they were called Strangers because they were not members of the Puritan sect. The Puritans had been through a lot together for their faith before they boarded the Mayflower---they had left England for Holland so they could practice their own faith, and wanted to go to the New World to establish their own colony of believers where they would be allowed to follow their own ways. The Strangers were considered sinners who didn't follow the same belief system. The Puritans didn't like having them along as members of their new community, but they were needed to help with the expense of the voyage.

Dating myself but that is why people loved Paul Harvey. "And now, for the rest of the story!"
I loved listening to Paul Harvey. Very informative.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 40
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 15

Happy 2nd Half Of October! Today folks we move along and see that we have 40 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 15 days left until November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestones set to arrive on Thursday. We’ve mentioned it all week but that is when Tom Turkey Day #11 and the Home Stretch till November will both arrive. It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. And we are here mostly quiet through a good part of the weekend. Mostly staying local till mid-afternoon Sunday. Laundry, food shopping, yard work, relaxing, reading and other stuff all involved. But then the final stage of the weekend turns anything but quiet. We’re taking our annual trip to the “Headless Horseman” upstate. It’s our 4th year in a row making this big annual trip. This is probably my favorite Fall Activity, overall. Pure Terror Park always comes in close at 2nd, but this one is a little more adventure (farther drive) and has more of a well-rounded activity (hayride, trails, houses and corn maze). Just a great time and a fun time for everyone. People travel from far away to go there. I hope you all enjoy your Saturday and the 1st half of your weekend. The best to all of you. Have a great 2nd Half Of October!

I was thinking about this being the final Tom Turkey Day before Thanksgiving earlier this week, and how fast it snuck up on me. I'm hoping Thanksgiving doesn't do the same thing.

His Rest of the Story segments are available online. I love listening to them.
