Well if you all can remember way back in the 2010 countdown, I mentioned I was trying to get on first shift at my job. Well by all indications, it looks like I am getting it.

That is great news!!!!

Good evening, my friends!!! I am amazed at the amount of posts in this thread and am behind in reading them all, as usual. Hope everyone has a good night!!!

Wait..how did this happen? Can someone help me find the weekend? I have lost it!

Don't worry it will be here again before you know it!!!!!!!!!cheesy

Three days after that ,my sister had to put our " family "dog to sleep. SHe was 16.

I'm sorry to hear about your family dog but I am gald to hear that yours is okay.

As I have suggested in other posts before a Christmas Notebook might do the trick for you.

I agree that a christmas notebook will help you keep that christmas spirit and I also like to look for easy ornaments to make all year long to help keep me in the mood.

I agree that it is getting hard to stay caught up on all of the posts!!!

You are so right, Christmas-a-Holic! You cannot just snap out of it! Too often people make light of it, but Christmas depression is sometimes a serious thing, especially in light of other "bad" things happening. When my son was diagnosed with leukemia on Dec. 23 and we went down to UC San Francisco on Christmas Eve of that year, I could not even FORCE myself to listen to Christmas music. I cried all the way down. In addition, I had a 1,600 word part I had to learn for a contest, and I had just finished my Master's Degree. I was physically and mentally and emotionally exhausted. It's not always easy, no matter how much we LOVE Christmas. Sometimes life gets in the way!

I am so sorry for all you been through. I know that all must have been really hard. I am glad your dog is fully recovered.

The only tips I have for staying in the spirit is to come on here everyday, continue to listen to Christmas music and watch Christmas shows if you're in the mood. I joined these forums 6 months before Christmas 2009 and it was the first year I didn't have the blues that bad but they were still there. This year got better. One thing that doesn't make it seem that far away is Christmas in July!

I almost forgot to mention that looking forward to growing a veggie garden has actually made me look forward to spring!

I know others on here have tips on keeping it alive. Like I said though, just because I feel great, I still feel really bad for others being down. Having the blues is a real emotion that you cannot just "snap out of".

I hope you feel better soon!

Excellent advice, Minta. A Christmas, Halloween, or even Thanksgiving notebook works wonders!

As I have suggested in other posts before a Christmas Notebook might do the trick for you. My Christmas notebook helps me prepare all year long with keeping a running list of gift ideas that I can easily check off when a gift has been purchased/made. I also write down tips that might help me like start wrapping way earlier then Nov. We as a family go over what we liked/disliked about this past Christmas and stuff we want to do again and ideas of what we want to try. As I try a new recipe that I think will be perfect for the holidays into my notebook it goes. I also keep a sectionon there for Thanksgiving, Halloween and Easter too. I also try to set aside a couple days a month to work on my notebook, go over recipes, etc.

Good Evening Everyone!!!!! It has been a sad day here. My friends mom passed away this morning unexpectedly. They are not sure what caused it so they have to wait until the autopsy tomorrow. Knowing that the funeral will be this weekend I went ahead and started taking down my christmas decorations this afternoon. I have all of my santas packed up and put away but the tree is still up. I am still going to wait until sometime this weekend to take it down. Tonight I plan on kicking back and watching some more college football. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your friends mom. Unfortunatley I got the same news from a friend of mine. Their mom passed away this morning but she has been sick for awhile. I have known them for over 20 years.

Meceka,
I think that's a good thing so we can reach our proposed goal of 20,000 after having surpassed 16,000 in 2010! Come along for the ride!!! And jump in when you can. This is not a race but a sleigh ride into Christmas!
