Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

What happened to my wonderful weather??!?!? Yesterday it was sunny and 74, now it's cloudy and 47. Grrrr. Crown, Gabulldawg and I usually endure the same weather patterns. Sorry to say, guys, but it's going to rain and be cold for a few days. cheesy

Brad,I love cool cloudy weather it's the rain I can do without because it will rain at 33F! then when it comes across Mississippi and Ala it is snow then as soon as it gets to my parts it turns to rain! but next week I am working at Warner Robbins Air force base about 2 hours north of where I live now,and it is calling for snow in Middle ga,and north ga,so at last I can see some Georgia snow next thursday. It will probably snow/sleet where you are too since you are at about the same latitude as/macon/warner robbins! but this is Ga after all so who the heck knows! I say bring it on!!!

Good morning everyone! Like brad said it is cool and cloudy,I talked to a buddy this morning up the road in Atlanta and it is snowing/sleeting there already but the rain has not arrived here yet. we are predicted to get about an inch 1/2 through sat. I know we need it as last year we hardly recieved any rain Feb-Sept..so maybe we can make up for the deficit. did everyone survive the winter storm in the midwest/northeast? Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!! It is cold here this morning but at least we aren't getting any snow or ice. Mom went to work but only stayed for 2 hours. She is starting to come down with the same stomach bug that I had last week. My plan for today is to get caught up on launrdy and maybe make some chocolate chip muffins. I hope every one has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!

Hope your mom feels better quickly.

.....(I had assumed that Wednesday was Carl/Shispering Pines day because it's "hump day" and a camel has humps. Was I right?).....
Very astute of you, Merry.
That indeed was why Wednesday was chosen to be open house day.

BTW, Carl is quite pleased with everyone's interest in him (he's quite narcissistic, you know) and hints he might go with TWO free fired twinkies next week!
He also says not to worry, he has no plans to leave.
I believe the exact quote was "without this place and all these wonderful supportive people, where would I go?"
(Hmmm... Makes a good point, doesn't he?)

Which in turn brings us to Fired Twinkies. That's right - FIRED Twinkes as (opposed to "fried").
Again, a typo was to blame. (Believe it was Binger this time.)
But our unique thread treat has endured, especially after becoming the official confection at the Shispering Pines.

Well, there you have it, folks. A thumbnail sketch of an explanation as to what has been going on here.

Bear in mind that Carl, the 'Pines and fired twinkies all came about in simpler, less crowded and less complicated times when we were few, everybody knew everybody and what was going on with all the in-jokes.
Do they have a place here at MMC as we get more crowded, sophisticated and free-wheeling?
I guess time will tell!

So are Fired Twinkies made the same way as roast marshmallows, on a stick until there is a nice brown-dark brown crust on it. cheesy

So far as I know Kansas as a rule did ok. Very cold this morning, fire in school few blocks north of me. But other than that all doing ok. Oops forgot friend fell on the ice and is in hospital with a concussion that was Monday.

Well, the exact recipie is a secret but it's something like that.
Similar to fried twinkies, only sweeter.
Hard to describe, really.
How about it folks? Those of you who have tried the fired twinkies. How would you describe them?

(BTW, at the St Patrick Day's 'Pines open house, the frosting is green.)

Good mornafternoon,

Been busy running around today, still no luck finding a roof rake, but the local hardware store does rent them. I am getting nervous there was at least a half a dozen roof cave ins around my area yesterday, I shoveled off some maybe 4 feet up but there is still a bunch up there with another storm coming on Saturday. I will be leaving for work in a little more than an hour, and working until 10.

Have a great day!

Never had a fried twinkie Never heard of a fired twinkie either till this morning. To be honest not sure what you could do to a trwinkie to make it better than it already is.

Now if you was talking about fried green tomatoes or okra then I really understand it.

Be careful out there.

Coldest night on record in Southern Arizona... No water today - what does one do about frozen pipes? Never happened before... I best go check with neighbors. I am a newbie at this cold weather thing.

Hope everyone is okay today!

What about using a concrete come along or some call a concrete drag?
Home Depot has for about $25 and could slip a piece of PVC pipe over the handle to reach further. Just wrap a few rounds of duct tape to hold.

Usually if it warms up through the day it will thaw out and you will have water again. If they burst then that is another story. I wrap my exposed pipes up outside, and have a heat light on my well pump that comes on also if the temp falls below 28F! and just to make sure I keep water dripping inside if it gets below 25F

Are the pipes in a outside wall.

As for whether they have a place here---they were born here, so they belong here. They're part of the Countdown tradition. Christmas nuts don't let traditions die.
Oh yes! I agree! No matter how curious I was (I should have asked a long time ago) I still enjoyed hearing about it! It does belong here and if it left it would not feel the same. cheesy

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy
Same stuff here. In was in the 70's all weekend and now we are suffering the coldest temperatures on record in 20 years. This all started Monday night with snow and ice and more snow predicted tonight. Then again on Tuesday!
Good morning, Christmas friends. We have some white stuff here in northern California. Of course it's called frost and not snow. The sun is out so I know the temps will rise later in the day. By the end of each day, I don't even need a coat. Oh well, that's what I get from moving to California when I didn't realize the weather here! I hope everyone has a great day.
Looks like you got a little white stuff! =) Maybe a whole blanket of snow for you before winter is over!
Morning Friends , hope everyone is well and safe. This weather is crazy for sure. We started off at near spring like temps yestaerday in the am and by evening we were back down to the teens and another weather advisry was out.

Stay safe. Good Luck CANINEMOM on the new job today!!!
As I was telling Brad, same type of weather here too!

I love all animals and glad Carl is with us. It's nice to finally know him better! cheesy

I am dealing with the same issue. Not sure what to tell you. We just have to wait until our thaws and see what happens. =(

Was just wondering how many on here have ordered some of the Christmas Pins and what they thought of them?
