Hi every one :) I will try to catch up one time soon! I have been so happy since I heard I graduated :) Work is great, really intresting, nice people, and I learn something new every day! It is really tiring though, I am wondering how people who have kids are capable of doing this: I work 40 hours a week and I have been feeling as if a group of reindeer have been doing the salsa on top of me! Maybe I have to get used to it... how do you guys keep up with yourself and your families during the workweek?
Miss yuo guys, will catch up as soon as I am capable of doing so ;)

I am glad you are very happy!

I was VERY fortunate that the whole time I raised my children that I got to work mostly from home. I did child care, helped my husband manage apartments (part time in the office) and helped a lady with delivering avon books. The child care was full time and as far as helping manage apartments, I got to do a lot of it at home, paper work, etc.

It is hard work being away 40 hours a week. I didn't go off for a full time job outside the house until my youngest was 12 years old. With teens it was still a struggle to keep up with it all but just somehow managed. It just takes time to get into a routine.

Good luck to you!

If you have had a lot of wind it may have blown the pilot light out on the hot water heater that is if you have a gas one.
He didn't get to see this post because he left for work but we do have a gas water heater and a lot of high wind in the past few days. It's inside and I didn't realize the wind could get to it. I might have to check it out but water heaters make me a bit nervous. I don't know what I am doing! I will read over what it says outside of it or if you have any tips, it would be much appreciated. cheesy

Yes wind can come down the flu and snuff the pilot light. If it's something that makes you nervous please leave alone, in here is too hard to walk you through. Wait till husband gets home. I have ran many no hot water calls and it be a pilot light issue only. Swimming pool heaters have this issue as well if they don't have a stackless top on them and then sometimes when things are just right out it goes. Wind is crazy and does some crazy things.

The sun is out!!!!! It is only 13 degrees outside though. On the news they showed the maintenance staff for the Indianapolis public schools trying to clean off the sidewalks so the kids could go back tomorrow. They were using regular metal shovels and they kept bending. They also said alot of the private contractors were out of salt and giving up on trying to break up the ice until they could get more. So it looks like the kids may get another day out of school tomorrow.

It got alot warmer today that it was suppose to when I drove back from work this afternoon my car said it was 54F it was only suppose to get 45F,rain has still not arrived yet. sounds like everyone else here is having frigid weather! Have a great afternoon everyone!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

As soon as you told me what could have happened with the wind and all I called up my dad and told him what you said. He came right over and helped me get it lit. It is a little drafty where my water heater is so my dad said you are probably right and it blew it right out.

With you and my dad's help it is now on!!!! Thanks!!!

I had to go to my parents for a hot shower this morning. Be nice to have one at home now!

Was just wondering how many on here have ordered some of the Christmas Pins and what they thought of them?

I have one of each and I love them! I wore the black one every day from the beginning of December until Christmas---looks like a little emblem. The wreath one is very pretty, too---that's why I had to have one of each. I'm planning to make a tradition of wearing one each day through the Christmas season so folks know it's safe to say "Merry Christmas" to me.

Carl is quite pleased with everyone's interest in him (he's quite narcissistic, you know) and hints he might go with TWO free fired twinkies next week!
He also says not to worry, he has no plans to leave.
I believe the exact quote was "without this place and all these wonderful supportive people, where would I go?"
(Hmmm... Makes a good point, doesn't he?)

Hugs and smiles to Carl for his sweet words about MMC!

Snow in Texas - we had a similar issue last week... something about when the temps change quickly, the water temp is affected. Did you try turning the water all the way up on your boiler? I had a guy come out and charge me $60 to turn up a dial!
After getting the pilot lit I turned the heat up a little. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the sound advice! I really appreciate it! I was unprepared and became a little panic stricken. I've taken your advice since it's expected to be in the single digit temps again tonight:
Usually if it warms up through the day it will thaw out and you will have water again. If they burst then that is another story. I wrap my exposed pipes up outside, and have a heat light on my well pump that comes on also if the temp falls below 28F! and just to make sure I keep water dripping inside if it gets below 25F
A restaurant nearby had water shooting above their roof, hoping that doesn't happen to us - will wait for the lines to thaw... I went out and wrapped a towel around the pipes and will leave a little drip in the faucet tonight. TY!
Are the pipes in a outside wall.
We recently moved in and I'm not familiar with the place yet - but I went outside to check - looks like the main water line with a shutoff valve is in backyard. TY!
I am dealing with the same issue. Not sure what to tell you. We just have to wait until our thaws and see what happens. =(
I hope your pipes are okay too! TY! May it thaw thooner than later 4 U 2.

Gonna spend some time looking back on previous posts; see what everyone is up to... Hope you all have a great Thursday! Thanks again!
