One Word -...Just don't eat more than 39 of them in an hour.
Awww, you jest. No one could consume 39 of anything in just one hour. One Word - Yummy!!!!!!
Just don't eat more than 39 of them in an hour.
Superdave: That's quite a snow shovel you got there - Holy Moly, I didn't know Kansas got that much snow!
I have lovely news: Christmasstar just gifted me a christmas tree decor in the experience shop! Love it! TYVM
City News: There's shelters setup for 14,000 people (& pets) in the city without heat or water today - geez!
I am glad to have hot water back but the hot water pipes in one bathroom are still frozen. I hope they are not busted. :-? I won't know until they are thawed out, I guess.
OK.
I'll try to review the history of some of the more -- well -- interesting characters and places mentioned here in our countdown thread.
First, of course, there is Carl.
Ah, Carl! Our 3-humped Coffee Camel.
Born about 5 years ago over at Christmas.com, he came about as part of the long-running interplay between Binger and myself in regards to coffee vs sleep.
(Carl's third hump stored the finest blend of coffee which der Bingster coveted.)
Originally, Carl lived with me and was a frequent over-the-shoulder commentator when I posted the daily count.
After a time, he began staying with willing thread contributors who agreed to be his host for short visits. After each visit, his antics were duly reported by the host for all to read and enjoy.
Over time, the humor wore a bit thin so Carl was mentioned less frequently. Eventually, he was dropped from the thread for several months until one of our members (Auntie perhaps?) inquired as to his whereabouts. At that point, it was revealed that Carl, owing to his unique ability to talk, had been offered an undercover position with the military on a secret spy mission in Saudi Arabia.
On his release and return, he accepted the position of activities director at the Shispering Pines where he remains to this day.
Carl's personality traits: He's fun-loving, talkative, experimental (primarily with coffee blends of a questionable nature) and -- yes -- a bit vain to the point of narcissism.
But under it all, he has a heart of gold and a guaranteed position at the 'Pines owing to his unique talents (and the fact the resort's business has tripled ever since his arrival).
That, of course, brings us to the 'Pines. The Shispering Pines, that is.
Name-christened by our own Jayish after a typo which was supposed to read "Whispering Pines", our thread-resident resort eventually took on a "Holiday Inn" (meaning the 1942 movie) like flavor, especially after Carl's arrival and his tremendous love for Christmas in general and that movie in particular.
Each Wednesday is open house day, where the first glass of sweet southern iced tea is complimentary along with the first Fired Twinkie.
Which in turn brings us to Fired Twinkies. That's right - FIRED Twinkes as (opposed to "fried").
Again, a typo was to blame. (Believe it was Binger this time.)
But our unique thread treat has endured, especially after becoming the official confection at the Shispering Pines.
Well, there you have it, folks. A thumbnail sketch of an explanation as to what has been going on here.
Bear in mind that Carl, the 'Pines and fired twinkies all came about in simpler, less crowded and less complicated times when we were few, everybody knew everybody and what was going on with all the in-jokes.
Do they have a place here at MMC as we get more crowded, sophisticated and free-wheeling?
I guess time will tell!
I will see to it that's all he plays! =)And, of course, the music is either Christmas or opera, right???
He was good!I want John Wayne to win!!!!!!
Yes, they are open.If you have a vanity in there with a sink do you have the doors open to it?
Oh, man. Christmasstar just gave me a wonderful gift. A stocking decor in the image of "the lamp." You all know whereof I speak. The "major award"!!! How can I EVER thank you???
Good evening, Christmas family !
I have missed you today. I was not able to be on because I started my new job. Today and tomorrow are / were day shift. Monday I start nights. I just hope I am going to be ready to "handle" things by myself on Monday evening. Today was not too bad. It is the same job I have done for 17 years, just for a new transcription company so learning a new platform basically is the hardest part. One step at a time. I'll get there I think.
Christmas A Holic, I am glad your hot water problem got fixed (I HOPE It did !!) - what a pain - no hot water !! Geesh !!
Take care, Christmas family xoxo
Sure, we have a spare bedroom that we have been using for storage. I hope you like my sons music. His room is right next to it and he turns it up sometimes. cheesy
He has a keyboard he plays sometimes. cheesyHe play drums to?
I will see to it that's all he plays! =)
He was good!
They didn't have as many good singers tonight. There were just a couple, seems most didn't make it through.
Yes, they are open.
When I dripped the faucets the other night I only had the cold water dripping. Got up in the morning and the hot water was frozen and still is. Ugh! The temps will not get above freezing until Saturday.
OK.

I think they do, as well as "Opera". Carl, The Pines, and Fired Twinkies are just a much a part of this place as I am. It's what makes this place what it has become. We all bring our own uniqueness to this thread, which makes it what it is. Personally, I enjoy hearing the "Old Timers" (old timers...haha) talk about these things with fondness....as I know one day years from now Made, Brad, Minta, Brent, ChritmasAHolic, Christmasstar, and the other 243,000 members of this place will. The attachments we all have because of these things...such as the opera...if we all worked together...that's what we would talk about around the water cooler....imagine if we were all in the same building...and Jayish did his paus de laux (did I spell that right, Binger) in his tights down the hallways....wouldn't that be great? Where else can you go and get that without someone getting locked up in the crazy house? How about if Binger highjacked the intercom system to broadcast the opera? How much fun would that be? Better yet, pulling pranks on each other and blaming Carl....or Crown passing out the daily countdown in this "building"...how cool would that be?
Take all that away...and I'm just talking about Dale Jr. running like junk for 3 years to Made....
I love this place....and I hope it doesn't change one bit....because believe it or not....it changed me for the better....
Was just wondering how many on here have ordered some of the Christmas Pins and what they thought of them?
Hi every oneI will try to catch up one time soon! I have been so happy since I heard I graduated
Work is great, really intresting, nice people, and I learn something new every day! It is really tiring though, I am wondering how people who have kids are capable of doing this: I work 40 hours a week and I have been feeling as if a group of reindeer have been doing the salsa on top of me! Maybe I have to get used to it... how do you guys keep up with yourself and your families during the workweek?
Miss yuo guys, will catch up as soon as I am capable of doing so![]()
