Hey all! Hope you've had a great day :) I had a great day. The graduation ceremony ended up being beautiful and I didn't trip or fall when walking across the stage! I consider that success! I'm so glad to be done and prould to say I've graduated!

Had a great rest of the day out to lunch with the in-laws for celebrating my graduation. Then the kiddo and I napped for a bit before going to a 31 party at my sister's house. What a fun and laid back day! Its been much needed.

Now onto Mother's Day! I love and appreciate my mama so much each day! My DD made me a few things at pre-school this week already and gave them to me on Friday. We're going to have a big family picnic tomorrow and it should be another beautiful day!

I saw today that Deck the Halls is currently an option for the free movies on my "on demand." I've never seen that one before, so I'm hoping tomorrow will give me an opportunity to relax a bit more and enjoy it!

Have a nice night :)

BEFORE I WAS A MOM

Before I was a Mom - I made and ate hot meals. I had unstained clothing. I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom - I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom - I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on, wet on, spit on, chewed on, or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom - I had complete control over my thoughts, my body, my mind. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom - I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests, or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom - I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I could not stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a Mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up every ten minutes, in the middle of the night, to make sure that all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderfulness, or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Good Morning, Folks.
And happy Mother's Day to all the great mothers out there!

Rise, shine and smell (well, read actually) the count:
Days to the Season: 189
Days to Christmas Day: 231
"Hey, hey, hey!
One week from today!"
(The 50 percent mark to Christmas Season 2011, that is.)

It's dark, dreary and wet here in Raleigh at this hour where we stand at 61 degrees.
No rain falling at the moment but we had plenty overnight and it looks like it could start up again at any moment.

Everyone enjoy the Kentucky Derby yesterday?
I'm not really into horse racing but do look forward to the tradtion of the Triple Crown each year.

You have a Super Sunday, Friends.
Get all rested up to begin moving another week closer to Christmas tomorrow!

Re the dogs and souls question - if my dogs can't get in, I don't want to go!!

as in the following...............

Heaven or Hell?

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"

"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.

"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up."

The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveller asked.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.

As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the man. "Do you have any water?"

"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in."

"How about my friend here?" the traveller gestured to the dog.

"There should be a bowl by the pump."

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.

The traveller filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.

"What do you call this place?" the traveller asked.

"This is Heaven," he answered.

"Well, that's confusing," the traveller said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell."

"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"

"No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind."

PS
Happy Mother's Day!!!! (we had ours in March!) and I've updated my avatar in my parents' honour!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!! (we had ours in March!)

I love this Maureen !! In fact I loved it so much I posted it as one of my blogs !! IMHO I can't IMAGINE The Good Shepherd, Jesus, not welcoming dogs and cats and whatever...........After all,in my thinking He made them all...........and though this may be silly I think there is something to the fact that GOD spelled backward is DOG........xo

Hey moms - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! What are your plans for today?

We're going out to brunch with my grandmom, aunt, and uncle. As many of you know, it's been a difficult year with my parents (divorce, etc) and it's the first year I'm not spending it with my mom. I am ok with it, though! I get to spend it with the people I am closest to - especially my husband and our boys!!!

Hope your day is wonderful!

I feel like your mom. She is just a little older than I, but I LOVE Disneyland. When some of my students shared on Friday that they went to Disneyland during the Easter break, I asked them if they went on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan's Flight, and a few others. They could not believe those were my favorite rides!!! I wish my mom was still here so I could cherish her. At least I have my memories! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and to all your moms!!!
I love those rides too! It was fun to go back to Disneyland with my mom. When we went there they were celebrating their 45th anniversary. It brought back so many memories for her because she was there for the grand opening. She said she saw Groucho Marx there and Brenda Lee during the grand opening.

I LOVE this - thank you for posting, Mo!

Lets not forget those moms who may not have children but are moms of fur children! You are a mom too!

Even if you have kids, like I do, you are still a mom to your furry kids.

Happy Mother's Day, my Christmas friends. It is chilly, breezy and quite overcast here in northern California. Hubby is making strawberry waffles, even as we speak. Mmmm, mmmm! I hope all of you have a great day!
