Christmas Countdown - 2011

Well I've finished decorating my Christmas tree and I'm not impressed with it at all. I just bought it last year after Christmas and I'm already wanting to tear it down and throw it in the trash after 2 days. The thing is just flimsy. The branches couldn't hold half of my ornaments and it is so unstable that I'm afraid it's going to fall over at any moment. It wasn't a cheap tree so I'm really not happy right now.

I am sorry you feel that way, nothing worse than doing something you love and it doesn't meet your expectations. Maybe it will grow on you.

Maybe we all can get together and wave our hands in front of it and make it better for you. cheesy

Hi All!

Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple of days.

So far my time down here has been great. Monday was my sister's birthday and we had a nice celebration that evening. My uncle and two cousins (who I hadn't seen since--literally--last Christmas) came and it was like "OMG!! You're officially taller than me!" Harry is 14 and into his games on his ipod but Madeline (who is 13) really surprised me. She was miss chatterbox! We talked about books and schools and BOYS! :yahoo:


Today was my check up at Tampa General. I had to get there mega early and got all kinds of tests done. How'd I (and my heart and lungs, of course) do? FANTASTIC!

my o2 stats are STILL at 100% (pre-transplant it would be in the upper 70s/low 80s at best......upper 50s at worst).

My lung function is STILL at a steady 82%

My blood level results looked sooo good thaaat....my doctor decided to LOWER the dosage on TWO of my anti-rejection drugs (Prograf and Rapamune). I'm still in shock over that one!!

I just need to come back next year! WOO HOO! :gift:


Tomorrow I have to go to the pharmacy to get my new meds and help Mom with the Thanksgiving shopping.

Thanksgiving is in a couple of days. What are you thankful for?

First and foremost, I am thankful for God giving me the gift of waking everyday. I thank him for my health - (I may have some chronic issues a lot of 25 year-olds dont have, but I can still be happy I am still healthy), my family, and my friends. I am thankful for my home, all the things I am able to have and the way my husband and myself are able to provide for our kids. I am thankful for my job and lastly thankful for finding this site, coming here everyday, and for all my Christmas family!

I hear you on the appetite thing, Dawg. I am tired of being tired and sick. This sinus headache seems to linger. I am glad that I am not cooking this year, the first in MANY years. I just do not have the energy. Maybe tomorrow!

Still in Denver still sick actually worse than yesterday...the plane this morning was booked I was on standby did not make it so now I am waiting for a later one. I talked with brandi and luckily she made it to Wellesley,Mass without a hitch! I am glad one of us had good luck..I think it may even snow in Mass while she is there..It is snowing at my folks house too If I can just get there!! I hope everyone is having a good day! Just 2 days till turkey day,I hope I have an appetite by then.

Please pray for my grandfather Otto....he had to have a minor surgery on his foot...actually both feet...now the doctor was puzzled because during the surgery there was hardly any blood coming.....seems that gramp s veines are so stuff that the feet hardly get any blood...there are ways to fix it...but with gramps health and everything things dont look too good....first he is too old and second it could be the venes are so stuffed that there is hardly any way to get through them....so in the end....and this is what I would like You guys to pray for him.....he might end up losing both of his feet....and that would kill his heart. Please pray for my grandfather so there is a way to fix this...even tho he is 82 and I knew every day something could happen...this is just the circle of life...the thought of him having to leave us is breaking me totally...so please pray for him

Now I just have to find a way to keep it from falling over. 2 of the legs are twisting and causing it to lean. So I may take the legs from my old tree and bolt them on to the new legs to give them some extra support.

Great games, the one finger salute or umm, "equipment malfunction" was the first thing that popped in my mind when Ference scored last night. Crosby looked amazing last night, he looked like he didn't miss a beat, I wonder if he could pull a Mario and win the scoring race after so much time off. I am a fan of "The Kid" he is a good role model for my boys, and we named one of our cats after him. Maybe a rumble in Buffalo tomorrow night for the Sabres vs Looch and the Bruins, too bad I am working tomorrow night.

I had to work last night, so I missed the game, but everyone I have talked to, said it was AMAZING. Sid was right on, as usual. HE's BACK!

Just stopping in really quick........DJ (my stepson) got his results back from his PET/CT scan........He is FINE. The exam was completely normal. One more thing to be so grateful for !! I am SO HAPPY..........And so thankful

I made it!! I made it!! I made it home! I am visiting with my mom tonight,and then tomorrow I may go to the hospital,at least that was the plan before I got the Flu!( i had the flu shot back in september!!!!) I don't think I should drink wine,but I can't help it,it's been a trying 2 days and I'm thristy!! All my bro's and sisters are already here so I am thankful I have made it finally. I hope you all have a good night!

Hate to tell you about those fun flu shots, but there are different strains of the flu - the flu shot doesn't protect everyone of them. So yes...you can still get the flu! Hello everyone!!!

I am two days into my crazy Black Friday work week and I'm happy to say I have not yet lost my mind! I'm actually starting to get a little excited because I think my boss might move me to a different job on BF. Right now I'm assigned to be a credit greeter, which is probably one of the least liked jobs at Kohl's. She mentioned today that she might have me be a line monitor, which I would like SO much better! It's been a busy two days, but nothing I haven't been able to handle. I think my boss might be a little upset with me, though. I kinda (unintentionally) went over her head to ask a question, and the guy I asked told her about it. So now it looks bad on her when I didn't mean it to. Oops! Guess I learned my lesson on that one.

I have been meaning to fill out my cards for the exchange but I can't find them! I think they're with the rest of the Christmas stuff downstairs, so I guess I will get them when DF unpacks the stuff this weekend!!! I'm excited to put up our tree and the other decorations!

My mom has been stressing me out lately with various things involving the wedding. Even though I told her I like the dress I posted the other day, she still wants me to try on about 7 others at David's Bridal, plus about 15 others at Alfred Angelo. I figure I'll appease her...plus I think it will only strengthen how much I love the other one. We'll see, though. Plus, apparently she is having issues with DF's mom, although I'm sure DF's mom is unaware of it. I think it has to do with the fact that his mom is letting us make our choices with our wedding, whereas my mom wants to know every detail, how much it costs, and is quite critical of different things we want for our wedding. I just don't want it to escalate because our moms have been friends for 16 years...there's no reason to fight, as far as we are concerned!!

On a bit of a down note, I really need some prayers and positive thoughts for a good friend of mine. This is a girl that I taught in high school band a few years ago, and we became good friends. She just told me today that she's tried to commit suicide a few times, and was recently discharged from her college (which she just started this past August) for some "psychotic episodes". I am really worried about her, even though she's telling me she's now seeing a psychiatrist. I worry about her, she's like a little sister to me and I'm horrified that she never told me before now (even though I know from personal experience that it's hard to tell others). I just want her to be okay...

Anyway, to not leave on a low note, I want you all to know how thankful I am for all of you!!! It's great to be able to come to a place where we can discuss our love for the greatest holiday ever, and where we are free to talk about whatever is going on in our lives and know that people will listen. Here's to the greatest online community I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of!! <333

I am making some delicious gingerbread houses tonight with my friends!! so excited!

My daughter is really starting to understand Christmas this year, so I think maybe we will make a gingerbread house together this year!

I just talked to my dad, My sisters have seen him and they said his whole left side is dead,thank God he has great insurance that will pay for a full time nurse... He will hate that,but it is what it is, he can't walk at all,and he ran 4 miles a day a 63 years old,but now he is basically wheelchair bound. It's so hard to see my dad that way,he was always so strong and eveything,I know this has to be hard on him,thanks everyone who has prayed for him...the one thing he did say was he should be thankful for what he has..some ppl that had the same kind of stroke he had are in a coma the rest of thier life...

That is great news to hear your father is improving, Neal! Don't give up yet though on his walking and such. I've truly seen "miracles" as to where people couldn't and then do. With physical therapy and if he is willing to work at it, he may get strength back. Keep praying! He will be in my prayers for sure!

I just wanted to post this, it is from one of the local news stations, they interviewed my aunt about losing her home from the tornado, the video doesn't seem to be working for me but the picture above the article is of her house seconds before the tornado destroyed it, that is the tornado behind her house. Her neighbor risked his life to get the picture, he doesn't remember if he was in the house or out of the house when he took it.

Hi everyone! Just checking in before I head to bed. Good morning or good evening, depending on what time zone you're in. I'm finally caught up on all the posts! Yahhh! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! How exciting! When I get up from the short of hours of sleep I am going to have, I have lots of cleaning to do, baking, and I am going to start decorating for Christmas as well. I figured I would get a jump start since I am going Black Friday shopping.

Nothing really new here to report. I work tonight coming, then I am off until Sunday night. I haven't had that many days off in a row since I was off on maternity leave. It will be sooo nice!

Yesterday we (=family) recieved a official letter from our landlady (house owner). She informed us that she will be vacating our flat to march 2012 the latest. Our house will be teared down sometime around July or August 2012! We lived there since 18 years and it's a big shock to us.

It won't be easy to rent a new flat, because we live in a region with high rents and I am not sure my parents will be able to pay such high rents. If they move away, my mother will be forced to quit her job and search a new one, which doesn't make it any easier.

Now my sister and I have look if we find an affordable flat for ourself, because then my parents can choose a smaller flat which will be cheaper. Could you please pray for us? That would be soooo nice!

That is terrable news. am sure you are gutted. thats the worst about renting your always at the landlords mercy. and 18 years is a long time
But somtimes as one door closes another opens. so hopefully it will work out good for you all.

Good morning everyone hope all is good with all of you
Was really busy yesterday . the christmas tree,s are going like mad now. some out the door .others a deposit. it is that bad in the back of my shop i can not get into the back room and its a fight to get to the washroom
Went the guys wake last night that got knocked down. over there most people have a wake when someone dies. everyone come to pay respects and offer support to the family. the 2 sisters said i was good to him. that was nice . somtimes he wood have come to mone to get a lend of a spade or a extention lead. he must have been saying to then
The weather today is damp and light rain and cold.
Have to try and get some more trees sorted. and i really have to get my own stuff out. i usually try and get my outdoor lit up for the 1st friday in december but i just cant seen to find the time.
Thanksgiving tomorrorw . you lucky things. Bet the ovens will be on all day with baking and cooking lol

what an awful situation, i hope you can make something wonderful out of this problem, since getting an apartment for yourself can be quite lovely as well, even though, it sounds horrible if you are forced. I hope all of you can find a great solution!

i agree we used to have disney's christmas carol in Dutch when i was a child, and we would always laugh, since in Dutch Ebenezer is called Uncle Dagobert. Only when we were older we realized that Uncle Dagobert is what's strange and in most parts of the world he is called Ebenezer hahaha

i'm sorry to hear you're disappointed, could you maybe cheer yourself up and get a very small little christmas three on the side, so that you can put the ornaments you've got left in there, and you feel a little better? Is there nothing you can do about the unstableness? maybe put something underneath it? Try and find a decorating solution, it might help you feel more cheerful, you can't go an entire season feeling unhappy!
