Hubby and I had plans to go to the spaghetti dinner at the Elks Lodge. Since it's his birthday and since I look too weird, he is going down there and get it as a take-out. Then he is stopping by the store to pick up dessert. Hmmm. I wonder if I can talk him into watching a Christmas movie. Then it will be like it's MY birthday!!!

Happy Birthday your hubby!

Big congratulations!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Sugar !!!!

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a great evening. We decided to not go to church tonight. I woke up this afternoon and cold barely breathe - I think I am catching a cold. A lot of other people at work have the same thing, plus DS already has one. My head is pounding and I felt like it was going to explode, so I just couldn't even crawl out of bed at that moment.

I am starting to feel a little bit better now, but still feel like I have something starting. I got through most of the post today - just have a few more to go, but I've got to go get ready for work.

Well, I will talk to you all tomorrow. I hope you all have a great rest of your night! :wiggy:

wow, what a great family Christmas party we had today!

My sister and hubby had mom in tears when they showed up unannounced (they live in Vermont, a 9 hour drive from here)

Then I had everyone in tears when I handed out the decorations made from my dads old sweater, they all started talking about their memories of him and how much they loved the idea of now having a piece of that sweater. Mom especially, could not talk for awhile after I told her that she had the piece of the sweater that was over his heart (she got a pillow since she does not decorate for Christmas anymore) I am so glad I was able to bless my family in this special way.

Now I am exhausted! Going to bed, good night everyone!

Well I'm off to bed. Goodnight Everyone!!!!!

What a marvelous thing to do 'Star!
Your family will ALWAYS remember that.

You had me in tears and I didn't even get a part of the sweater. Just hearing about the pillow did me in!!!

Busy day ... up to the North Shore on an errand, back again, dinner with a friend of ours, then we watched "The Christmas that Almost Wasn't." Bedtime pretty soon.

Has anyone started feeling the post Christmas blues yet? I know that sounds wierd but I have already started to worry about how I am going to feel post holiday this year!

A little ... because Christmas is next weekend, and the next two weeks I have to work late, so I won't have enough time to watch a Christmas movie or relax much when I get home. It'll probably be work, dinner, bed, so I feel kinda cheated because I won't be able to indulge in much Christmas this week. I'm behind in watching all my favorite movies anyway. I hope I can see one or two tomorrow before the drudgery begins. The good news is that we have the 26th off because Christmas is on a Sunday, so in a way, we get an extra day of Christmas to enjoy.

I hope instead of a cold it's something simple, like the air being too dry. In the winter my nose gets stuffy when it's too dry, so I use a humidifier in the bedroom at night to moisten things up a bit. Saline mist during the day helps, too.

Star, you did a wonderful thing ... more than making mementoes, you've made memories.

I think next time, I will add more cinammon to the cookie recipe! Or is that cinnamon? Sounds the same, huh, RJD?

I love that movie. Old Mr. Prune, right?

And with this post, Christmasstar is poster #28,200. For her efforts, she wins a box of Kleenex to pass around to all of us for her wonderful gifts to her family members! Would you just look at that count?

I love that movie. Old Mr. Prune, right?

Prune it is! Mr. saw it in the movie theater when he was little, so we watch it every couple years. We even have the movie poster. The DVD has the Italian titles and credits, so it doesn't have the wonderful disclaimer at the end of the U.S. version that states that all the characters are fictitious---EXCEPT Santa Claus! (Oh, well, the old VHS has English credits and the disclaimer.) I swear three or four of the elves were Oompa-Loompas in "Willy Wonka" a few years later. Must check that sometime.

Stopping in for a very late evening "Hello!"

We are nearly at the 18th of December. How the days have flown by. Tomorrow evening at this time, I will be home in Sault Ste. Marie for the Christmas Season... Barring any flight delays, of course! I am really hoping for a safe and stressless flight!

This evening, Kim and I visited Parliament and enjoyed the Christmas lights and decor. I have attached a couple photos below. Others can be seen in the Christmas Blossoms thread, too!

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful time. I don't have much time to peruse the forum at the moment. Hopefully I can stop by before my flight tomorrow. But, it is a busy day!!

Good evening, Christmas family

Have had a WONDERFUL day today !! My husband surprised me by suggesting we go back to Donzell's Garden Center today and walk aound to see the Christmas stuff again !! I never make it there more than once each year so it was a special treat. Then on the way home we stopped for lunch. There was a gentle snow falling while we were out and I was playing Christmas music in the car !

I didn't have time to properly read all the posts today, please forgive me.

CAH -You are more than welcome about The Bishop's Wife!! I am glad you liked it. I think it is a beautiful Christmas movie and the message can't be beat !!

I hope all are well and have a wonderful rest of the weekend. I work tomorrow.

Take care, Christmas family xoxo ((Hugs))xo

Hey everybody!! So here we are in the final run-up to Christmas; wow! It's plodded along like a faithful old pony all year and it's now like the faithful old pony has been replaced with an Arabian thoroughbred and we're sprinting toward s the chequered flag (look at me, mixing my metaphors before 10am!!)

I'm trying desperately to get my Christmas spirit. I can feel it there, just peeking round the corner but I think it's reluctant to make it's presence felt until we have a living room!!!! Because we don't have a living room, I'm subsequently missing my bedroom and part of the hall (everything from the living room is scattered between the two). We now have the........thing.......built and I've got to say, it looks superb. He's now painting but the paint isn't going on as well as he'd like and when I went to bed last night, he was threatening, loudly, to strip everything, go and buy wallpaper today and start doing that. I'll admit to having a brief but poignant conversation, loudly, to the effect of "thank you so much for what you've done, it looks fantastic but if you think you're starting to wallpaper now, I'll rip your ears off"

Bruce is now home from university and we've big plans for today. I'll be impressed if we follow through with even one of them!!! There's a heap of baking to be done, I haven't seen the new Harry Potters yet (I've been under a rock!) so we're going to watch those too (probably on the laptop in his room as, you may recall, we don't have a living room right now!) we're going to deliver Christmas cards and may wrap some presents (might manage that in the kitchen!) Needless to say, he's still in bed and I went in to check on him (I know he's 20 but old habits die hard) and REALLY wish I'd had my camera with me. Jacob (the border terrier) and Bruce were spooning!!!! Jacob idolises my other half and obviously, Bruce - me, not so much!!! Jacob was lying with his head on the pillow, on top of the duvet, with his back snuggled into Bruce, who's under the duvet, and Bruce's arm was around him, both completely out for the count; you could've blown a trumpet in there and they wouldn't have budged. Mom moment but it was a cute one!!

Okay, off to make another coffee then I guess, do something. You ever get that feeling that you don't know where to start???!!!

I'm currently listening to RadioJonD's Greasy Skillet on WAAM - Ann Arbor (let's hear it for internet radio!!) and it's a great thing to kickstart your Sunday with. Do yourselves a favour and have a listen. This week and next it's all Christmas so get in there!!!!

Catch you later - be good!!!!!!!!

:D
