Here are a few pics of O'Malley and his birthday pad!

Here's a view of the birthday and Christmas cards the kids pasted onto his fort.

They also attached patches of fabric because I told them before that he likes to rub his whiskers on the edges of cardboard or textured fabric.

They also added a few beads attached to string and the best idea of all came from a boy who had recently turned five and had two cats of his own. He made O'Malley a bottle rattle while the teacher cut a small hole for the bottle to go through the box and once the boy stuck a few beads inside, she secured it with a cap from the inside of the box. They also added a yarn pom-pom ball to it. The finishing touch were the two holes they cut so he could climb in one and look out the other like a window. He managed to crawl through the round window hole this morning, but I missed snapping that one as I was recharging my battery.

Here he is checking out the rattle bottle.

Here he is using his fort as a perch to look out at the snow. He's made friends with his new snake. It's less than half the size of his carnival snake, but he likes it.

And here he is settling down before we went to bed, after I had covered his fort with his old Teletubbies towel (he used to have that one in his pet carrier, but now he has a Looney Tunes one in there).

We woke up at 4:30 this morning to the sound of O'Malley playing with the bottle rattle and ripping some tape off the box. Some people pay a hundred dollars or more for a kitty fort, O'Malley will have this one for another week or two before we can't handle the mess in the living room anymore and it didn't cost us anything.

As a follow up thank you, I'll print a few photos of him playing with his fort and drop it off to my friend to show her JK group.

:hello: Visit and lunch with mom was nice. She's so excited to head to a warmer climate for a couple of months. They'll be paying close attention to the weather as they head South.

My merry Texan chums, keep an eye out for them around the end of March as they'll likely swing by there before heading home. How will you know them?

:)) They look like Canadian Christmas Nuts on Vacation. HaHa

Thanks for sharing! These all brought a smile to my face!

I am so glad to hear you guys had a nice time yesterday! That will be so nice, I'm sure, for them to get away for a few months!

lovely sunny morning here. I am leaving for church shortly and then off to London again.

Have a great day everyone!

Have a great day and have a safe travels!

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! We are headed for 50 degrees today which is double what it was yesterday. We are also under a slight risk of severe storms tonight. I'm gettting ready to head out to church and then it will be home to root for the Ravens and the 49ers. It's hard to believe that just 2 years ago I was at Lucas Oil Stadium watching the Colts win the AFC Championship and look where they are now. Well I'm off to get ready. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!

Have a great day! I don't even know who I want to win. I know not the Ravens. For sure not the Ravens!

You just never know what can happen from year to year with teams! :-?

I have several websites email recipes daily or weekly and I haven't been able to go through them for awhile, so I am finally going through them.

If I find anything super good, I will post it in the recipe section! There is a lot stuff that I save and print out. I love to cook and bake! :-D

For sure. They did it last year, but they went to a gated community, but this time they're going to stay in a condo. My dad is going to take some of the oil canvases I gave him for Christmas and paint now and then as it isn't as much of a tourist vacation for them as it is a chance to get away from the cold and snow for a bit.

That sounds lovely! DH says later in life he just wants to sell our home, buy a huge bus and just travel the country. I don't think I am down for that. I wouldn't maybe mind doing it a month or so out of the year, but not for my home. He's crazy. I want a house to call my home. Especially a place my kids can come back to and hopefully they can bring their kids back to.

Good morning MMC pals. How are you all this am? I am well. I got to sleep a little longer than I thought. DH's alarm went off around 5:30, which I thought would be the time I would be getting up, which I guess I techinally I did, as that did wake me up. I wasn't really able to fall asleep until he left for work at 6:15. DS didn't wake me up though until 7:30! He kinda was fussing here and there in his crib, but didn't want up until then. It was nice.

I am just sitting here now with my coffee, EA is watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I don't have much to do today. I do have to check to see if I need to wash any clothes, but other than that, it will be a relaxing day with the kids! I think I am going to throw a ItalianVegetable Soup in the crockpot around lunch time.

Well, I hope all of you have a great day! Off to read the rest of the boards! Hopefully later I will even be able to catch a nap, since I work tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Thanks! It was my DH that woke me up this am, but I was able to fall back asleep at least for a little while. It's okay though. I will hopefully catch a little bit of nap later this afternoon, then will lay down tonight before going to work.

:hello: I think it would be cool to take a merry makers tour and travel around "in the season" to visit Christmas chums around the world. I'd love to take mountain biking and hiking tours and travel, but not forever just for a very long vacation. Imagine the pictures I could take!

That would be lots of fun to travel during Christmas! I never lot of that. Although, I don't know if I would 100% like it or not, since I love being at home with my family at Christmastime. If I would do it, I would have to be home the week of Christmas. I have friends that have went to Disney over Christmas and I told DH I would love to do that someday, but just want to go during the season. He thinks I am crazy. I don't see the problem, as long as we are home in time for the holiday!

Yesterday, when I was visiting my folks, my dad gave me the Christmas music box I had given my God-Mother for Christmas five years ago. She almost didn't get it because I liked it so much. I had bought a second one, but that one went to my granddaughter who also loved it. My God-Mother died two year's ago this coming Mother's Day and her daughters gave me several Christmas items I had given to her over the years, but one of them kept that one because they didn't know who it came from. They were visiting my folks last weekend (up for a funeral) so she dropped it off to surprise me. I didn't bug her about it because I knew she liked it too. It plays Santa Claus is Coming to Town and has an multi-coloured LED snowfall with a Christmas train in front of it and a lovely winter scene. I love it.

I already received the Jingle Bells music box book with Santa's toy shop inside (given to her back in '93). The workshop is animated. I tried them both out last night and again just now. I'm feeling festive!

:tree: My heart is always yearning for home over the holidays too, but I'm starting to wonder if I'd like to celebrate with family in a cabin in the woods somewhere - just once. My husband and I might do it ourselves one of these years and take O'Malley with us.

I am bet it is a great feeling to have those back! I am sure you feel that much closer to her as well. I bet it was such a surprise yesterday when you went to visit and you got these items. How awesome! :)
