Good morning! Just home from work a short while ago! It's off to the doctor's I go with EA. She has been running a fever now for three nights with this horrible cold. I hope we get some medicine or something! I feel so bad for her!

I hope she feels better.

Hello all!

I don't post much, but I wanted to let you all know that DH will be having his gallbladder taken out on Thursday. I know we all pray for/think of each other here, so I wanted to let you all know.

Thank you!

I will keep him in my thoughts

Good news! I thought the teachers on here and others as well might like this story!

My 21 year old son is graduating college this week and already got a job before walking the stage. He is happy!

I am so proud of him because all through school he was labeled "ADD" and really had a difficult time. He never once made honor roll but I was always proud of him when he made an effort but other times were trying because we had to stay on top of him to get his work done.

He did have a lot of good teachers that I had good communication with but one teacher struck a nerve when he was in the 4th grade. We had a parent/teacher conference that involved all his teachers with myself and his father. All of them mentioned it was a struggle to get him to concentrate but they all saw a creative side to him. One teacher stood up and said, "I'm sorry, I disagree, you all say he is creative but I don't see it at all and his writing is terrible" then she followed up with, "I have another meeting to attend to", then left abruptly. All the other teachers were shocked but no one said a word and we carried on. From that day forward my son was self conscious of his writing skills even when he started college. Well, sorry 4th grade teacher (that I don't even remember her name, ha ha) all his teachers in college were VERY IMPRESSED with his writing skills and commented how he is the most creative student they ever seen. He also had to give speeches in college that the teachers called creative. I don't mind if the 4th grade teacher didn't "get it" but her approach was uncalled for and not productive or helpful for my son. As far as being creative he heard that from teachers every year except that one teacher. Wouldn't it be nice to look her up and show her what he is doing now? (in a nice way, of course)!

My son made all A's and one B the entire time he was in college. The B was in algebra but he gave it every effort to even get that grade by staying after school nearly everyday.

I am proud, VERY PROUD! He really came a long way!

Thanks to all you teachers on here who work with your students to make them great adults!

Sorry that I only read the last page on the Countdown and I don't have much time to go back and catch up right now. I have been busy this week and have some family coming in town for graduation. I will see how it goes and try to visit on here often!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Congratulations to him! You have plenty to be proud of!

Congratulations to your Son, and to you and your husband also! It's great to hear that your son not only graduated but has a job. Tell him I said "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Employment!". You don't get your summers off, and you still do work, but THEY pay YOU.

Good morning, Christmas friends. It is rainy here in northern California right now with showers to continue for today, maybe tomorrow, too. We really need it for this summer. I hope summer is as mild as this winter has been, but I am sure THAT won't happen. I copied my Nook Tablet User Guide, so I will be busy for a while learning all the new stuff that I don't have on my first Nook. One thing I found out is that if I have my Nook vertical, the page automatically will be vertical; if I turn my nook horizontally, then my page automatically turns horizontal. It is amazing when I first watched a YouTube and then turned it horizontally. Freaked me out, in a good way!!! I can hardly wait to see what all it can do. Have a great day, everyone. I will let you know about the appointments when I get home late this afternoon. TTYL.

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

We had another city council meeting last night. I have to say, it's still a little weird sitting at the head of the table after all those years in a council member seat! There was no serious business to discuss, just regular city business. I hope that is the norm, at least until I get used to being responsible for everything that happens...LOL!

Sunday afternoon before the big game, we went to the grocery store to get some chips & dip. As I was driving out of the parking lot, another car backed out a parking place and hit the side of Nancy's car! I was so mad, I was stomping around the car looking at the damage and grumbing out loud. Grrrr! Then the other driver got out, and she was a little 16 year old girl who had just gotten her license, and she crying uncontrollably and apologizing. Then I felt bad for raising so much sand after it happened. So, Nancy and I wound up consoling her till her mother arrived, then she started crying harder! Oh, well. I told her that these things happen, and that I had caused a few fender benders in my time, too. She finally settled down, and I taped some plastic in the window hole (IN NANCY'S NEW CAR!!! GRRR!!!), and we went home. Today I have to drive it to Statesboro to the auto body guy to get an estimate.

At least no one got hurt. EXCEPT OUR NEW CAR!!! GRRRR!

I hope y'all have a great day!

Thank God you guys weren't hurt, Brad! You guys handled that young girl with such compassion :) God bless you both! Sorry @ the damage on her car, though. Drive safe today on your trip to the auto body shop. Hope it's fixed quick!

Congrats to your son, CAH!! I can see why you're so proud
Shame on the negative 4th grade teacher! What business does she have teaching! Thank God he had so much love & support around him. Best of luck to him w/ his new job!!

My thoughts, too, Snowflake!!!

A Christmas Story.jpg

what a deal! 20 CD's, 8 books and 8 loads of laundry for only $2, I'm impressed!

Actually, the laundry was free - since I do my brother's, he pays for mine to be done, too cheesy

Wishing you all great rest of the week.

I wish you a great rest of the week, too!

Today, I went into Barnes and Noble and bought the Tablet, which is charging even as we speak. I thought it would be good for me to use to watch movies and/or read when I have chemo. As soon as it charges, I will see what all it can do. I hope everyone has a great rest of the evening.

You are going to love your Tablet! I hope your appointments go well - still praying for you!!!

This same brother is having total shoulder joint replacement surgery tomorrow. I sure hope that all goes very well for him!!! Many years of swinging a hammer has worn down his shoulder & it's time to fix it tomorrow! He is a private contractor so hopefully this surgery & rehab will have him back to work....they told him an 8 month recovery. YIKES!!!

Hi, Holiday! I will keep your brother in my prayers!

Hello beautiful Christmas family!
Winterland is turning into iceland here. (+3c)
Rain, rain, rain = ice... and it's dangerous to walk outside!

Hello, Solice - stay safe - I hope the ice doesn't stick around for very long!!!

We are actually getting a bit of snow this morning, a rare sight this winter. There was just a story in the local paper about how the maple syrup producers are worried because of the mild winter. They are hoping we get a good freeze yet before the tapping starts.

Our trees are running already - we are going to tap them tomorrow.

I don't post much, but I wanted to let you all know that DH will be having his gallbladder taken out on Thursday. I know we all pray for/think of each other here, so I wanted to let you all know.

I will keep DH in my prayers!

It's Charles Dickens' 200th birthday ... hooray for the author of "A Christmas Carol"!

Hooray!

Good afternoon!

Have a MERRY day!!!

May I say mmmmmmmm mmmmmmm! The Buffalo wings have spent the last day and a half soaking in the Buffalo sauce, so much flavor and sooo spicy, they were phenomenal, my lips are burning, but the taste was so good. I may have to look for more wings while we are away this weekend. They are one of my favorite foods. I did go to the Goodwill shop on my way home today, they had a lot of Christmas stuff but nothing I liked, they also had an "ugly Christmas sweater" for $4, but it was too small for me. Darn! I have always wanted one.

Enjoy your afternoon!

Big congratulations to your successful son! Even more so because he overcame so many difficulties to reach graduation.

I know what you mean. When I got my first Nook, I could buy books at the drop of a hat, even going down the freeway. Yesterday, I realize that we have WiFi at home. I had forgotten that!!! I am ONLY going to research today because I have several free ones on it right now. But I will make sure that any movies I buy from now on are Blue Ray.

My saving grace on the Kindle Fire is the Wish List. Instead of tapping Buy Now, I add the item to my Wish List, then review the list later to decide what I really want to spend money on. The Lending Library is nice, too, although only a limited number of books are available and I can only borrow one a month. But it's fun shopping for music on the Kindle, listening to the 30-second samples. Enjoy your Nook!

christmas-a-holic.....congrats on Your sons great great accomplishment!!!! it shows what a great young man he is...and how great you raised him and instilled hard work in him.....awesome....always nice to see young people setting off right into their grown up lives!!! good luck young man

Congratulations to your son! That is so exciting! I can only imagine how proud you must be. I will be 21 in a couple of months and I won't be graduating until I'm 22. Nobody I know graduates at that age, so he must have done really well. I am so glad he got a job, that is great! Again, congrats to him - what an accomplishment!

Happy lunchtime!

I did a few errands this morning, I had to run to Comcast and get a new remote control for the cable box, since the old one died. See you all in a bit.

I hate going to Comcast for a new remote LOL. Our DVR machine is acting like a psycho lately. We always lose the sound and have to rewind quickly to get it working. I will pray for you that you get good news at the doctor appointment and that your foot feels better!

Where is everyone tonight?!

My dad just gave us some good news, he is going to try to stop smoking. He has been smoking for almost forty years, so it's about time. He has a really bad cough from it.

Keep him in your thoughts for good luck. He tried before and successfully stopped for 2 months but then he started again. I really hope he quits for good this time.

I can't be home with a bum foot and NOT have a properly working remote. I just watched that show Heat Seekers again, and now I want to try the Satan's Tongue hot fried chicken, it's at a restaurant in Nashville, so I need to add that to a proverbial bucket list. The problem with watching food shows is that they make me hungry, I do have my leftover Buffalo wings from Sunday to nosh on for lunch. I have my next Dr appt. tomorrow, but my foot is hurting badly again, I thought it was improving.

Disney's Christmas Carol is on now, and I am hungry, soooooo......

See you all in a bit.[/QUOTE]

xmas i'm sorry to hear your foot isn't lots better by now. maybe the doc has some suggestions. thinking of you!!

I really hope he quits for good this time.

jennifer i hope your dad has success. i'm a smoker as well, & have a cough, been smoking myself for about 25 years. hope to quit real soon! please be understanding w/ your dad. i've read that kicking the cig habit is in some ways WORSE than a heroin addiction. gosh it's pure ---- for me!

Good evening! Just got done eating dinner. I didn't get to bed until around lunch time, so I will make this post brief. I have to lay back down for work tonight.

EA has a viral infection, which I expected. They didn't do anything for her, which sort of made me mad. They said it is because kids will be sick all winter...blah...anyway, he said this is a new cold by the way I was telling him her symptoms (even though she has had it a few weeks). I am not sure how he figured that out. He said they our concerned when they have a fever at the end of the cold, etc. How the heck am I supposed to the beginning from the end? I am starting to get frustrated! Geez!

Well, I hope you all are having a great day/evening. I am off tomorrow, so I will read the posts tomorrow! Night!
