Tuesday hello, everyone ... the office server is still down, but at least we have Internet access, even if we can't get to our local network files. I expect to be staying late this evening for a presentation we have tomorrow morning. (So I won't get a bike ride this evening ... )

Thank you for all your posts.

That's too close to the truth!
used to be a person could not get to the files because someone forgot the key to the filing cabinet! LOL

kitchen floor is washed, just waiting for the wax to dry. That floor is so old, I really wish they would replace it. Even after washing it does not look all that clean, just now the dirt shines!

Hi from NE England everyone - Hope you are all doing well...

Even though it is still August I have started to notice that the nights are drawing in - getting dark by 9pm now...

I personally cant wait for the clocks to go back in a few weeks...thats when we will really begin to look forward to the season - I find it difficult when it is warm (well as warm as it get here!) and it is still light at 10pm to really feel the spirit!

Just in the office listening to festive Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra tracks on YouTube - it was quite amusing the other day when someone in the office walked past my desk and asked "Is that REALLY christmas music you're listening too through your headphones in August?"....I just gave them a knowing smile!

I really wish I could spend more time on here with you all - I do try and pop by whenever I can...rest assured I am wishing nice wishes for you all!

My co-workers at first gave me the strangest looks when they heard me listening to Christmas music througout the year as well as the questions...

I now have a reputation around the office of the Christmas nut (lol)... oh well, I'm happy and loving it! And I find that it makes my days go by better, faster, I'm happier and I feel it as well inside....

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I worked a little late last night with my side business. When I got home and had a shower I turned on the TV. Spaceballs was on. That movie KILLS me! LOL!

Nancy's getting more and more creative with chicken, and it's very good. Bless her for working so hard to keep me healthy!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

My husband loves Spaceballs! Have a great day, too, Brad!

I have to tell you that my first week held a surprise for me. My principal felt it was her right to call my doctor to "get additional information" about my ability to return to work EVEN THOUGH I had his letter stating such! I told her that she could not do that without my permission, but she would not listen. I told the union rep that I will soon seek the advice of an attorney!

Wow, that's really crossing the line! I'm so sorry you have to deal w/ that. I'd consult an attorney, too. Good luck to you, Cherylle. I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers. xo

:sparkle:

I agree, that is way beyond what is reasonable. Hope your doctors office refuses to give the info.

It is really hard dealing with an elderly parent. When I was a teenager, my grandfather died and we moved in with my grandmother to take care of her. She had lots of health issues. She did get on our nerves sometimes, but it was a definite learning experience. Sure, we gave up a lot because someone had to be with Granny 24-7 and Mother received NO HELP from two of her siblings who lived nearby. Whenever we wanted to go to the beach, they were always too busy to stay with Granny. .

That story brings back memorys.~} when i was 8 and 9 years old ,my gran was not well and she was slowely dieing. and for 3 months almost every night she wood waken up and have to get pain killing stuff and oxgyen.andsometimes the dr wood have to come ,that wood have been me up the rest of the night . and i went on to school and i was falling asleep in glass. one day in scence class the teacher made me stand at the back of the room. and after the rest of the class was away. he started asking me what was wrong with me. i wood not tell him as i did not want to be telling anyone that my gran was sick. he losted his temper and started shaking me to tell him and answer him. he shoke me that that much i fainted and another teacher heard him shouting and came in .. but i never regretted it wood do it all again ...

Good Morning, MMC~

How are you all?

I'm ok, still dealing w/ some issues at work.. I can't wait for Friday to get here.

It's still ridiculously hot & humid, here. 105 today, possibly down to mid 90's by the weekend! Back in the 100's next week again, though... I'll welcome & appreciate the weekend break =)

Some of our backyard "neighbors" have a new dog. We've never met them, they actually live in another development. Anyways, Harlowe noticed him first on Sunday, because of his bark. I felt so bad for him, they had him outside in 100+ degree heat, no water, and nothing to lay on. They never landscaped their yard, so he just has dirt, rock, and the cement slab outside their backdoor to rest on. I was so close to calling Animal Control, but then they finally put out a bowl of ice water after he had been outside for over 40 min. I secretly hoped he was just visiting, but then he was out again last night, all night long =( When I left for work this morning, he was chewing on weeds & sticks. Makes me furious! Adrian did point out how he had water, and a towel this time. That is good, but still.. Who knows if the weeds are poisonous. Why do people get animals that they don't care for?? Maybe he's just a guard dog to them. I just want to hug the poor guy. I battled Animal Control a year and a half ago with some other neighbors, so sad that they won't actually help the animals. What are they there for?! Sheesh. They tell you they don't get paid enough, and refuse to take action agaist neglected/abused animals, just "educate" the owners, which lasts about a day, then they go back to their mistreatment. Animal control is terrible out here, truly. Sorry for my rant! Just very passionate about animals.

I hope all of you & your furkids are good!! xo

I'm going to do a girl's night out w/ some friends this weekend. We will be heading down to Fremont St. for some dinner, drinks, music, and possibly the zip line. Should be lots of fun! I so need that.

It's exciting to read about the new Christmas movies coming out this season on Hallmark & Lifetime, etc.! Cannot wait! The one I read about today is called Christmas Baby, it sounds interesting. And some of the 2011 ones that were on Hallmark last season are being released on DVD this Fall. I really want to buy Trading Christmas, The Christmas Pageant, and A Princess For Christmas.

Well, better get back to work. Break time is coming to an end.

Have a lovely day, friends~

Hello All, I haven't been here in a while but it sure feels nice to come back to say hello to everyone. I looked at my countdown calendar today and realized with only 125 days 'til Christmas, I need to stop and look in on my Christmas Pals. I can't believe how close we are to the start of the season. So I send warm wishes to all of you as I come to join in the fun and countdown to the most wonderful time of the year !!!!

Yep, sure are getting closer. I can almost imagine it getting cooler.... almost.

Happy lunch hour everyone. Just stopped by to check in briefly. Have a super day!

Will your family be able to recoup any losses? I sure hope so and hope the embezzler was prosecuted!

Prosecution would be up to the current executor, as the theft was from the estate. But the embezzling executor was bonded, so the estate lawyer will probably try to recoup the embezzled funds through the bond company. Dad was by no means wealthy, but I guess she just figured to grab what cash she could get her hands on and squat in the house as long as she could. I think she figured she could get away with it, as I was the only surviving family member and lived in Massachusetts, while she and the estate were in Florida. But when Dad's modest estate hadn't been closed a year and a half after his passing, I had to make it my business to find out why. That was a little over a year ago.

Considering the medical privacy statements we all have to sign, I'll bet the doctor's office told her firmly that they couldn't release any information to her. The rules are very strict now about who medical offices and hospitals can release information to. Sugar the RN can probably tell you more about that.

This story makes me very sad. I ask myself that same question in regards to my neighbors all of the time. I can only imagine that poor dog sitting out there roasting in the heat. It doesn't take long for them to feel the effects of being out there all day long. The yard the dog is in doesn't even sound like a safe environment. I like to think of it this way - if you're not going to send your child out there to play, you shouldn't send your pets either. It's not right. I do not like Animal Control, at all. Our neighbors have an indoor cat. They let it out occasionally when they do not feel like dealing with him - and frequently in the winter. He lost so much weight last winter and would come sit on my porch and hide and try to stay warm. I called Animal Control and the Humane Society and neither would do a thing. As I was saying earlier - my neighbors do not care for their animals at ALL and it makes me sick. My one neighbors have a dog that they can't handle at all. It's a lab and honestly it is the heaviest dog I have ever seen - so overweight. They never take her for walks, they don't play with her, they just leave her outside in a fenced in area. So cruel. To top it all off, they got another dog that they also neglect. My other neighbor has two dogs. He will feed him and take care of them when he is there, but for the most part, he's gone all day long and all night just to party. His dogs hop up on the sofa and face the window trying to see people and get out - it's really sad. They never get to go on a walk, so sometimes I'll take them. Finally, my other neighbor just got a puppy. The poor guy sat out in the sun all summer long while they just sat in the house or ran their errands. He might have a little bit of water out there, but that's it. He cries and barks all day long.

Now I realized I ranted but I completely understand you!!

Just looking at it makes me smile!

Well, it DOES have that retro-nostalgia thing going for it! cheesy

Getting ready to turn in. It's been a long day. I knew when I signed on that as an Independent contractor I would be responsible for taking out taxes on my own. I spoke to my tax guy and almost lost my teeth ! I have to take 25% of every paycheck out for the Government. I am kind of down now. I just did not realize it was going to be that much. I just hope I can still make it financially with this job....With that much being taken out and with making less money to begin with at this job I am going to have to do a whole lot more work just to break even....

Mr. does some freelance work on his own time, and I keep track of what he's paid, figure the tax percentage for federal and state, and send in a quarterly check so we don't get slammed at tax time in April. It hurts every quarter to have to send a chunk away to Uncle Sam and that state, but at least we're not scrambling to scrape up a huge lump sum once a year.

used to be a person could not get to the files because someone forgot the key to the filing cabinet! LOL

 Yes, and it wouldn't take two days to retrieve the files! Just something to bust the lock!

Heartbreaking!! Makes me want to save them all. Wish we could force these cruel people to endure what they make the innocent animals endure.. xo

Hi from NE England everyone - Hope you are all doing well...

Even though it is still August I have started to notice that the nights are drawing in - getting dark by 9pm now...

Good to see you again!
I can tell the seasons by the sunlight in my office. I sit next to a window that looks out into an atrium lit by a skylight. In the spring and fall, the sunlight falls right across my desk in the late morning hours. Now that it's late August, the sunlight is starting to creep back toward my desk. When I get blinded by sunlight a little after 11 a.m. some future morning, it'll be fall! Our office is supposed to be moving later in the year or early next year, and I'll miss my "seasonal sundial."

Could you surreptitiously document the conditions with videos or photos? That might make it less of a case of your word against theirs, and might help a neglect charge to stick. Would it be worth going to the police instead of Animal Control? AFAIK, animal neglect or abuse is a criminal offense, so maybe it's within the jurisdiction of the law-enforcers rather than the "dog catchers."

hey there....been another horrible hot day....lol...soon the weather is goin to get a lil more normal....the heat is cool...only when I dont have to dispatch mail on my bike....horrible....lol....but still....I) l ove summer as well....I need it to appreciate the cool and brisk fall and winter days

Great idea...unfortunately, already tried that w/ the dogs next door. Repeatedly.. I took pictures of them & their lack of shade, shelter, food, and water. They also tied two dogs together by their collars! Took photos of that, as well. They choked each other when one would run the opposite way. Nothing phased our animal control...they gave warnings, and on their reports, noted that conditions improved when they didn't. I then called the police, and they wouldn't do anything, said it needed to be handled by animal control. Shameful!

I appreciate your suggestions, though.
