Get moving and make something with those apples to bring to Seawaters for dinner tonight. All of us at MMC are suppose to be there! =)

Can you bring me some coffee? I'm feeling to lazy to walk into the kitchen and make it myself.

Made, I am not sure if it's just my computer but when I hit "read more" the link didn't work. I will try again later.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it working now. Hmm... Interesting! lol

Hey Meceka! hey Shelliegirl! hey Claireloveschristmas! hey everyone!!! hmm, i think i've had a bit too much coffee8-)

I forgot to add that here in northern California, we are in the below normal range for winter weather. What a surprise!!! Glad you had a good time at the concert!
Thank you for the prayers and thoughts. It can be tough but she is still getting around. Even with the cancer, mom can out walk my dad who has emphysema.

Sorry you are forecast to miss most of the winter weather. Weather forecasts are often wrong so you have hope.

Lord willing, we will be visiting our parents in Gastonia for Christmas. My brother, son, and I will be walking through your hometown of McAdenville, (Christmas Town USA). Kind of a family tradition but can't get my wife to walk the 4.5 mile round trip.

Gobble Gobble my Canadian friends:march: i hope all of you have a wonderfully memorable Thanksgiving up there!

good morning My MC cuties!!!! hope this morning finds each of you feeling better than before a good nights rest.

my b-i-l's mother passed away last evening. they had went back home on friday morning. his brother called him yesterday & said to come back, their mothers breathing was very bad. he got here & saw her & about 10 minutes later she passed. i am so thankful he was able to see & speak to her before she left for her heavenly home. her name was Maggie Lou Stacks. she had 2 sons, 2 daughters, & made a career as a beautician. had numerous grands, some she helped raise. over 5 years ago she was diagnosed w/ Alzheimer's & had gotten really bad. she was 1 month shy of turning 90. Miss Maggie had a very full life. i don't think she would want anyone to be sad now.so i'm just gonna be happy for her & pray i live that long & happy.

i got up BEFORE the roosters this morning! hubby woke me in a panic. scared the bajeebers outta me, the dishwasher had flooded the kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got all over him for that. as long as it's not someONE it's ok. besides seeing him so upset, i had to stay calm, ya' know? he said, "you'll have to get the mop to dry it up". now let me tell y'all, my mop is a rag head mop about 12" long & my kitchen ain't small. do you have any idea how long i would've been there doing that w/ that little mop????? i'll tell ya', TOO LONG! i went & gathered towels & started soaking it up & squeezing them out & soaking more up. bless his heart he started helping me. it was up in just a little bit so here i am now, wide awake on my 2nd cup'o joe.

our choc.lab, Maggie(coincidentally same name) hurt her leg last week some how. Seth noticed her limping & we checked her over & found a single puncture wound on her front right leg. this is hubby's pup & he wasn't here. w/ seth's help i cleaned the wound, put salv on it & covered it w/ the top of 1 of hubby's socks. she is the sweetest thing & i can't stand to see any of them hurt. we didn't play ball w/ her because no matter how bad she's hurt she would still try to run & jump. her limp is almost gone now & the wound has healed over on the outside.
she's our gentle giant. she probably weighs about 100lbs. & in the a.m. when we feed them all she stands right over the food, her head up, looking around, & lets' Daisy, Diva, & Mickey eat. when she knows they're finished she'll look around 1 more time & then she will begin to eat. God love her, she is so sweet. our cat, Holly doesn't like any of us (lol) but Maggie. Holly will get on her stoop & if any of them come over she hisses & swats @ them w/ fangs showing, but not w/ Maggie. Maggie will put her face up to Holly & Holly will lean over & lick her & they rub faces. precious!

have a blessed day friends!!!!!:merry:SIZE]

Hey now how are y'all doing... Today is a little cold and raw here; we have today off for Columbus Day, so I decided to honor our Northern cousins and have a "mini" Thanksgiving Day... As it is Monday night there is Football Texans at the Jets, I have Turkey Breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, almond string beans, and Apple turnover... Mini Turkey Dinner... With all this "talk" of Thanksgiving I was aching for a dinner like it...

I am going to attempt to read what I missed over the weekend but that is easier said then done we sure have a lot of posts how cool is that though!!!!

Good Monday Morning, Friends of the Season.

Back from the beach and back in the saddle!

To start with:
A big thanks to Brent for not only carrying on the countdown without a miss, but also seeing us safely past our final Season Milestone, the 90 percent Home Stretch mark.
Now, the final coasting has begun as we move in on Christmas Season 2012!
Days to the Season: 36
Days to Christmas Day: 78

Great weather at the beach and we got everything done to winterize the cottage for another year
Sad to close down, but we really don't much care for the beach in the winter.
Brrrrr!
(You haven't really felt cold until you are hit by a coastal wind with the temp below freezing!)

I read 52 degrees here at this hour and it's not predicted to get much warmer all day as a brief cold spell moves in.

May a Marvelous Monday be yours for the taking, Folks!
Keep the light of the Season shining always at your feet to guide you.

Welcome back, Crown! Glad I could fill-in. My apologies for not being so timely with the posts. I couldn't find an internet connection and had to post from Kim's data plan on her HTC phone. Myself and androids do not get along very well, apparently.

I always wondered about this one:

Q: Why don’t you always bring kids what they ask for?
A: Because I believe in the power of dreams. Some kids ask for things they cannot possibly use or they ask for things that might be dangerous. Sometimes I won’t bring a child what he asks for because the Mom asks me not to and, like a good kid; Santa always does what Mom asks. But the most important thing is that a child needs to continue to dream and work hard. If I just gave every child everything they wanted it would change the value of everything they have. Wanting and dreaming and wishing…those all are Christmas ideals. And I think they are good ones.

I check the countdown often, but have never actually registered and posted until today! I'm excited to join in the discussion. This weekend in Oklahoma the high temp is only about 50 or so, so its going to feel like winter! Had to listen to some Christmas songs on my way to work this morning.
While I sneak some Christmas music in earlier, the Season for me always starts with Halloween. I love taking my kids trick-or-treating and watching them have a good time. I love it too because the next morning, on Nov. 1, I switch the decorations, music, and other things over to Christmas! Anyone else start the season then?

Hello Ryan!!! Sorry so late in my welcome... I have my Christmas CD's in my car going full steam ahead... I put up my Christmas decor the day after Thanksgiving although this year (thanks to CAH's wonderful advice) I might not get to it until Friday after Thanksgiving... I do put up a Thanksgiving Village in my Bay Window and my house is all done up for Thanksgiving right after Halloween...

Yes, please do!

OK I will post it by tomorrow SW I will try and post the link to it in here from the recipe thread

Good morning, Christmas friends. Hubby and I drove to Redding yesterday for doctors' appointments. On the way, I suggested our having a Thanksgiving dinner on Monday. He agreed!!! (Later last evening, I heard him telling a friend of ours that we were celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving.) At one of the doctor's offices, there was an OLD issue of Sunset magazine (November 2011). We decided to try the recipes from it for Monday because we have a set menu for the US Thanksgiving. Anyway, here's our menu (most recipes from the mag!): Brined Turkey (not from the mag, but we know this is good and can't stray from our regular recipe; we bought an eight pounder); Sage Gravy (our regular recipe); Wild Mushroom and Butternut Squash Bread Pudding; Fingerling Potatoes with Bacon Cream; Roasted Cauliflower and Shallots; Cranberry Sauce (store-bought); Homemade Rolls; Chocolate Chunk Pumpkin Cupcakes; and Pouilly-Fuisse White Burgundy (thanks to the recommendation by LaurieBear).

Oh footnote.... It is also taste with Buttery Lobster if you partake in fests that feature Creatures from the Sea!!!

Lauriebear,
I did a search on the wine and found out I could buy it in Chico at two places, one being Cost Plus World Market. When we got to Redding, we stopped at BevMo just to see if they had it; and they had never heard of a "white burgundy." I could not remember the name (Pouilly-Frisse) but I told the clerk that it was, indeed, a real wine. Anyway, we were driving along the little mall area; and I spotted a Cost Plus World Market! I think I scared my husband when I said, "Wait, we can get it there!" I went in, but the clerk didn't know about a white burgundy, especially since I couldn't remember the name. I kept trying different versions of the name, saying it sounds like Pooyay something. Finally, his eyes lit up and said, "I think I know what you are talking about." He led me over to it. There were several brands ranging in price from $7 to $24. I wishy-washied on the one to get and decided to get the one that had Pouilly-Frisse on the label (I am sure you can guess the price on that one!!!). I am looking forward to trying it on Monday. Thanks for the recommendation. Just think, this (our celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving and trying a new wine) all started with our wonderful conversations and recommendations on this forum. Thanks, friends!

I can't wait to read if you liked it!!! I am having a "Mini" fest today we are having our bottle with it tongiht so at around 6:30 EST I will toast you my CA / MMC friends.

Please send the Lear!!!! cheesy

Tee hee - right it sounds better then my menu for sure!!!

I am a Yankees fan, too and have been for over 50 years! Sheesh! Reading that makes me feel old!!!

YAY!!! Me too SW!!!

As a lifelong Red Sox fan, I am required to hate the Yankees. cheesy I have nothing against the fans of them. I have 2004 to look at when the Sox were down 3-0 in the ALCS and I worked in Connecticut the Yankees fans were harsh to me. The Sox came back and won, I was quiet and humble about it, seeing their misery was enough for me.

I am pulling for the Washington Nationals to win the World Series this year though.

Hmmm, 2004, Hmmm, 2004... I was very sadden by that baseball year... No we in my house have never forgiven the Yankees for such a debacle... It was a hard lump to get over, don't know that I am...

Good evening MMC!

I hope everyone is doing fine. I woke up this morning with a thought that it's already a month and one day since I came to Scotland, and it's already my 4th week at the university. I thought 'How quickly time passes'. It really does. :] I had only one lecture today but my lecturer was frightening us all about our final assessments. It really made the things even worse as knowing the fact I had already been scared about exams and essays at the end of the semester. ^^ Anyway, the good news is I already have my tickets printed for my flight to Lithuania for Christmas.

My wife and I rarely get to watch any movies but over the weekend we sat down & watched Courageous. It was a great flick and I think all dads should see it.

i was very moved by this movie when i 1st saw it. i agree that all dads should watch it.

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

We had an all-day event at church yesterday, with Homecoming services (one of my favorite pastors from the 1980's preached!), a HUGE lunch, then family dedications for stained glass windows and furnishings. It was a fun day.

Then Jacob and I went out and did some more farming, planting rye for the deer.

After that, they wanted McDonald's. They went through McD's drive-thru last Friday night, and when they got home, they found that Nancy's burger wasn't in the bag. After we got home last night...Nancy's burger wasn't in the bag. Boy, she was mad. But, between Friday nite and last night, that was about $10 they had taken from me this weekend with no meals being provided. So, we drove back to McD's (about 10 miles) and had them make her burger...LOL. That was an expensive burger!

I hope y'all have a great day!

we went there last week & they got our order wrong too. i read on Yahoo's news page a while back they have the worst customer service record for the last 20 something years straight! if that $1 menu wasn't so fab i wouldn't ever go back. it takes so little to please me! lol

You must live in a very small town to drive so far for a McDonalds. I think we have one on every corner here! :D

I am glad you all had a nice time at church.

So sorry for your BIL's mothers passing. Prayers to them.

You know the fastest way to get rid of water on the floor without a shop vac (thankfully I have now). Use a broom and dustpan! You can sweep up water into the dustpan to dump in the sink. Once you get up as much as possible then of course go to other means, mop, rags, etc. I saw someone else do that before and never thought to do it. It really is a lot faster! (Sorry that info came to you late but I'm sure it can be useful in the future) =)

Aww... I hope your lab will do okay!

thank you cah for everything.

I SWEAR by towels!!! They are so much better than a mop, and all you have to do is dump them in the washer!

Your Maggie sounds SO SWEET!!! I was picturing her in my mind, along with Holly. You began my day with a smile!!!

So sorry about the almost 90-year-old Maggie, but I am glad your BIL got to be with her at the end. You are right about being positive. We mourn and are sad, but the precious memories really do sustain us.

thank you also seawaters!. our pup, Maggie, really is this sweet all the time!

Murphman and Brad, can you get the movie in stores?

yes, but be sure you have tissue nearby!! very good movie!

I always wondered about this one:
It's a good thing Santa answered that question! =)
