Ripples can be great for scrap/stash afghans. I once made a baby afghan using leftovers---when I ran out of a color, I'd finish the row in white, do the next full row in white, then join another color to start the next row. When I was finished, someone asked me for the pattern!

Here's a scrap one I made that way. It wasn't very handsome, but it had a certain crazy quilt effect:

I like it! It has a personality all its own. That would make a perfect snuggle blanket to pull out, say in a family room when you have your bunny slippers and pj's on put a classic movie on and get all snuggled up on the couch...

You are such a good cousin, CAH.

My throat is starting to hurt again! On top of going to bed last night with a sore throat I got a wake up call around 12:30 am from my 20 year old cousin who was upset about his puppy being sick and wanted some advice. I am not a vet but I guess he knows I love animals and work with them at the feed store. I felt really bad because the phone was breaking up last night and I suggested that he googles the symptoms online and I will call him in the morning. I wish I could have helped him last night but we live so far away and I wasn't sure what to do. I guess he just wanted to talk to someone so that was okay with me! I got a hold of him this morning and the puppy seems to be doing better. He apologized for waking me up but I understood he was upset. Anyway, not much sleep last night but things happen!

Right now I am busy with my granddaughter so after she leaves I am going to get some rest and get better!

Good idea, Xmas Tidings.

We are leaving Wednesday morning for Madera to spend 10 days with my SIL and BIL. Hubby will be helping his nephew work on an Eagle Scout project. We will be having leg of lamb and all the trimmings for lunch/dinner. I have to take all my utensils and "tools" to make my homemade rolls.

They better have WIFI!!!! You can't leave us for 10 days!!!

What is he doing for his Eagle Scout Project?

He is building an in-ground fire pit for retiring US flags in the appropriate manner. My new iPad and phone are "on-the-road" usable. They are not easy to type on, but I will give it a shot!

Thank you! It went to a charity several years ago. I wonder who's cuddling with it now.

Cool. I stripped the floors in the basement of my Church and redid them. Then I repainted the whole basement.

You can do it!!! It just takes some time to get use to it.

The thing about Eagle Scout projects is they are always (at least all I have seen) so beneficial for others. Of course, that is the point!

I have never seen Toy Story 3 and I would love to sometime xo

Xmas, I am beginning to worry about you. Could you have gotten pneumonia or something like that ?? Please take care of you and keep us posted xoxo
I have gone twice to be checked for pneumonia, and my doctor has said my lungs are clear. I just can't shake whatever is going on here.

Good evening! Our rain/snow mix turned out to be mostly rain today. No accumulation. Its supposed to be in the 50's by this weekend so it looks like this may have been our last chance for snow until next winter. I was kind of hoping for at least a couple of inches. Anyway, I am hiding in my room with the animals while my hubby does some work in the kitchen. Since the girls have off from school this week he will be able to work a little bit later every night. I hope evryone had a great day is enjoying the evening so far!

Good afternoon!

Here it's Easter break and we are in the hospital.
My 9 year old got a kidney rupture yesterday (after a fall)
So he have to lay in bed here for days for the kidney to heal.
Hope the ultrasound in a couple of days is fine!
(so we can go home...)

I got a lot of PM's with "Snowbattle". What's that?
I felt very popular logging in here and got 9 new messages... LOL

- And my stepson got 'his family' for next school year in USA
He is going to North Carolina! We are so exited!!!

So what is going on here?
Anything new?
I missed you guys SO MUCH! ♥

I hope he heals quickly.

Sorry to be a pest because I bet you all have already discussed this last week but I missed out....

What is everyone's plans for Easter?

We are hosting here, (I think we get every holiday here now) menu is TBD. Nothing like last moment. cheesy

mmmmmmmm, chocolate, good idea!!

these are the first 20 of 60 codes I have to learn, thought maybe if I started typing them out I would remember them better. This is for my new job at No Frills. I know I will get them all eventually, just have a bit of a struggle with them.

Okay, now I understand. cheesy

I can't figure out why they insist that you memorize them ... at the supermarkets we go to, the cashier refers to a list for the produce codes.
we have the list too in the computer, very easy to access, they just want to make sure we are not spending alot of time looking things up.

You are only allowed to disappear if you are coming to do these dishes that you have been ignoring!!!!! I've been forced to flip my plates over and use the bottoms since you haven't been here to wash the tops. Not to mention the fact that I've been eating with my hands since all of the silverware is dirty too.

Writing things out and saying them out loud at the same time helps, too. For example, I had my students practice math facts by writing and saying each fact. They would do 2 x 3 = 6, 2 x 3 = 6, etc. until they had written them five times; then they would go to 2 x 4 = 8 and do that five times. It really does help. When I am trying to memorize a part for Elks contests, I do it a paragraph or a few sentences at a time. Once I memorize the paragraph, I start on another one and practice the first one in addition to the new one. How many codes do you have to learn? You can also make up a rhyme to go with the code. For example for 4 X 4 = 16: Want to drive a four by four truck, Unless you are 16 you are out of luck! You could also think about setting the codes to music such as Old MacDonald Had a Farm or even It's a Small World, LOL!
thank you for the tip, will get right on it!
