I need some advice, friends! Little bit of story to set it up...

I was off today for the funeral. I received a call from an organization this afternoon asking me to come in tomorrow afternoon for a job interview! I'm excited, but I know I cannot just take vacation time tomorrow without giving a reason (in other words, I can't just say I have stuff to do and need off as the chances of getting it are slim, particularly since I was off today). My boss has mentioned that she knew once I graduated I would be moving on probably, and we are on good terms about it. She has mentioned that she thinks I'll be finding a different job soon.

I won't lie about why I'm taking off tomorrow, and I won't lie and just call in sick. I'm a bit nervous about telling my boss, but feel honesty is best. I feel I should just explain that this chance has come up and I would appreciate the time off. It's a gamble, because I don't want her to get mad, but I also don't want this opportunity slip by. What would y'all do?

Its always better to be honest as lies have a way of catching up with you
If they already know your be moving on there is not a lot she can say

Maybe this job may not be for you , but your currant boss will know your a truthful person

I played it for a little bit, but aliens scare me so I had to get off. cheesy

I was wondering if you'd have something to say about that...

When I think of aliens now, I think of you! LOL ;)

I agree, honesty is best
can you call the place where you are having the interview and see if it can be moved to another day that allows you to go without having to take time off? Or maybe even a telephone interview to start? Explain that you just had time off for family funeral and it would not be good to ask for more time off right now. If they are really interested in you they will appreciate your honesty and even see it as a positive trait.

Honesty is the best policy, definitely. But you also have to look out for yourself & your career. Do you have a good relationship with her? If you think she won't treat you any differently, I'd explain why you'd like the time. If you think it would make your professional life uncomfortable & difficult, I wouldn't go into specifics & just ask for a personal day.

Good luck to you, friend!

I did get a reminder in my email from Hallmark about the ornament premiere weekend this weekend, I showed it to my wife and tried to plant the seed that I want to go. Only problem is we live a long distance from any Hallmark stores ao it is almost a day trip. But Christmas fun beckons, so it is always worth it.

Well if you can't convince her to do that, Hallmark will be all Christmas movies next weekend.

I bought a Fall piece that I've wanted for awhile now :)

The horse drawn carriages at the base move around the piece. It's really sweet.

Snowflake took the words out of my mouth.

I think it's mostly exhaustion from the heat & humidity! I'm having trouble staying awake in the afternoons, too.

Only if you can take me with you!!!!!!

Oh boy, another scorcher of a day here today folks, TTL I work in the AC...

I got up at 4:15 this morning so that I could get to work early so that I could take a few hours off work this morning to take my grandfather to the heart doctor for a routine check-up. I goofed up and read the nurses handwriting wrong and I thought our appointment was at 11:15 am, but instead it was 11:45 am. We got there too early!

Uggggh, I had to wait 55 minutes before the nurse called us back and then, the doctor himself ended up being about another hour behind schedule. I wasn't too thrilled about that, almost 2 hours of waiting before we even saw the doc. needless to say, everything checked out ok and the doc say he looks good...

I went back to the office and still got my 8 hours in today. I think the rest of the night will be dinner, (check), shower (check), some MMC, a Christmas movie and a bowl of peanut butter and chocolate Ice Cream....
:-D
