Christmas Countdown - 2016

Happy Sunday, all!

I'm taking my sweet time getting up and getting going today, as Mr. is out doing an errand. It's a sunny one, so I'll probably put up some lights outdoors this morning. I have some brand new GE strings. Hoping I don't find dead bulbs every day, as I did with the old strings. Later in the day I may get some decs on the tree and/or the piano. I went in and decorated my office desk yesterday. Time is racing along! Not looking forward to going back to the office tomorrow, but at least it will be a short week for me.

Yes, she will be just about to the border of Wyoming. Interesting place Rapid City, lots to see and do. My only regret in that area is the amount of casinos in Deadwood. It use to be several little shops or places to eat and then a casino. Now it is several casinos and occasionally a place to shop or eat. Oh well, to each his/her own I suppose. It just kind of bothers an "old man" when progress plows over tradition.
I truly hope she has a great time there...

Thank you for your concern. Bronchitis was the answer and I have some stuff called "Prednisone" to take from Friday till Tuesday (one a day) and an inhaler if I need it. I should have gone in earlier, but when the first day hit me with a fifteen hour sleep, I just assumed it was a cold and perhaps it did start that way. I felt much better last night and even though a cough came up every now and then, it was not as pronounced as it had been. In the past, I have "healed" very quickly, although I am sure age can even slow that down a bit (but not my spirits).

So, Friday night I mentioned that mom had a cough - yesterday morning we ended up in the emergency room and she got to stay! Yep, Pneumonia! Ugh!

Happy Saturday! How is everyone's Thanksgiving weekend going?

Feeling so far behind here ... tree is up and lit, but not decorated ... little tree is still in the basement for now ... no lights up outside yet. Must go in to my office this weekend and decorate there, because Monday will be a busy one and I won't be able to decorate during working hours. Cards yet to write for the exchange, cookies yet to bake, wrapping yet to do, a little family shopping yet to do, more audio work to do. I keep reminding myself: It's not even December yet! But once I subtract workdays from the available time, there seems to be darn little time left to get things done, much less relax and enjoy the season. But it all gets done, somehow, when it needs to. I'd better get started! (After a cup of tea ...)

I feel your pain! I started on my tree Friday night but then had to go stay with mom. Ended up at the emergency room all morning Saturday morning. My cousins from Pittsburgh are out so we had a little gathering at our house last night… So my tree is still waiting to be complete!

Good morning, everyone! Woke up to a frigid 32 degree morning here. Wasn't supposed to get that cold, but I will take it. I was going to go outside, but I think I will just sit in my chair and read all things Christmas.

We went out last night for my birthday...tomorrow, I turn 40. Yes, 40. It is so hard to believe. I don't even know where my 30's went! I've been coming here for a since 2009 and it seems like I just joined last week. Wow!



and I've been to a few of these nights! These have been some of the best times here....make sure y'all come join us.

Good Sunday morning, Christmas friends!

What a busy few days we've had! We all left work a couple hours early on Wednesday (thanks!). Then we had Thanksgiving at mom's on Thursday. After lunch, mom,Nancy and Elizabeth dragged me shopping. Ugh! Walmart was a CRAZY PLACE, but I got the 55" TV. LOL! Where am I going to put that thing?!? At 8pm, Elizabeth and I went home, leaving mama & Nancy shopping. Nancy came home at 2am. Friday, we did Thanksgiving at Nancy's mom & dad's. Yesterday, I picked up pecans all morning, helping Elizabeth earn some Christmas money, then we bought & put up our tree! Whew!!

Today, we have church, then lunch at mom's.

Fun!!! I bought one of them 55 inch screen TVs last year… It still hasn't made it home. It's being used in my in-laws TV room! Hmmmmm!
It took two pick up trucks to get all of our black Friday things home because of the 50 inch screen & the 40 inch screen TV that we had to try to fit in among all the other purchas! Neither were mine!

Good morning MMC! Well my tree is going up today, I was going to wait until next Saturday but I just can't hold out! Hubby is going into the attic to bring everything down before he leaves for golf!

My shopping is going great, I cannot believe how organised I am this year, just about finished for the girls only got the parents to buy for now.

Anyway best get sorted for a day of decorating! Have a fantastic Sunday everyone!

Oh yeah my credit card is having LOADS of fun...but I'm frugal the rest of the year so it pays off when the holidays come. And I wouldn't put it past him to wait till I'm out to check out the tree.

This morning I got a few lights up outside, and attached some outdoor ornaments to our hedge. First time I've done that. I heard a couple walking in the street behind me.

He: (Not very enthusiastic) Oh, it's time for lights again.
She: Those aren't lights. They're ... decorations. Just decorations. They're pretty! (Pause) I could do that!
He: ...
She: You wouldn't have to do anything. I could do that myself!

So I think I'm setting a trend in my neighborhood! It was tough work attaching each ball separately, but it does look nice. I may try to train a floodlight on it so it's visible after dark.

My indoor tree ... still not decorated, and the little one is still in storage. I don't think I have the energy to get to them today. I may write some cards for the exchange instead.

There is something odd about our trees this year...they look great..but they dont look GREAT!! I just cant seem to put my finger on it and its driving me crazy. I have found over the years that sometimes you can have a tree that you can look at for hours and never see anything you want to change. Idk..I just cant figure them out.

Merry little fly by - Busy hectic week and it's not slowing down in my neck of the woods.
I'll have a few photos to toss into the Christmas Blossoms thread when I can get around to loading them.
Most of my Christmas cards are finished and ready to go. Bought more Gift wrap - the foil kind & Scotch tape - new winter boots and I'm feeling the merriment in the world around me as people are already growing kinder, holding doors, smiling more, etc.
