Yesterday was my MMC 8th anniversary.

I have some exciting news to share and then I best "hit the gym" before my workday begins.

My oldest grandson proposed to his long time girlfriend in front of Santa who was riding on a firetruck during the parade in our Nation's Capitol while wearing his firefighter uniform (he graduated from the Police Academy and Firefighter College so he can do either job when the opportunity calls for it - his brother is a firefighter and taking the paramedic course for a similar reason).

Santa announced to the crowd that she said, "YES!" I'm delighted that he chose such a special and merry event to "pop the question"; looks like I helped raise a Christmas Lover!!!

Congratulations to your oldest grandson and his fiancee!

** CHRISTMAS SEASON 2016 DAY 16 **


Good Morning, Nearly December Friends.

Yes, it's hard to belive but we are just about ready to wrap up the next-to-the-last month of 2016. This year has really flown by just like so many others, at what seems like an ever-acelerating pace.

And that pace is established by our daily count.
Today's installment:
Days to Christmas Day: 27 (Well, now. UNDER four weeks left!)


On the chilly side here yesterday, but certainly tolerable.
A brief warming trend will establish itself during the course of the week, but toward the middle we could get some rain.
On our back door thermometer right now, we observe 36 degrees under a clear, sunny sky.


The Panthers yesterday? I don't even want to think about it, let alone talk about it!


As such, I proceed directly to my usual "Have a Marvelous Monday, Folks"!

Good morning MMC! "Merry" Monday! Though it's the 1st Monday that the rest of the world recognizes that it IS the Christmas season...I'm not feeling too merry! It's dark & rainy outside. FOUR days off went way too fast!!! I'm tired & sinus headachy this morning. But HEY! Just coming here has made me feel more merry already!! LOL! I'll stop complaining!!

Mom is having a swallow test done sometime today, per my sisters request. She's over the top! Anyway...I hope that goes well for her. My sister is worried she has aspiration pneumonia. I just want her to get better! xx

I am so bummed & stressed that my tree isn't up. It has definitely been put on the back burner. I guess I shouldn't say I'm "stressed" about it, but yet I want to be able to ENJOY it!! I wish it were done! For now, I'll enjoy this much of it...

Just got word that she did great on her swallow test but ate very little breakfast & what she did eat, came back up. Poor lady!!

I hope your mom is well very soon so you can get to your tree.

This morning I got a few lights up outside, and attached some outdoor ornaments to our hedge. First time I've done that. I heard a couple walking in the street behind me.

He: (Not very enthusiastic) Oh, it's time for lights again.
She: Those aren't lights. They're ... decorations. Just decorations. They're pretty! (Pause) I could do that!
He: ...
She: You wouldn't have to do anything. I could do that myself!

So I think I'm setting a trend in my neighborhood! It was tough work attaching each ball separately, but it does look nice. I may try to train a floodlight on it so it's visible after dark.

My indoor tree ... still not decorated, and the little one is still in storage. I don't think I have the energy to get to them today. I may write some cards for the exchange instead.

Well Holiday you must have spoken to Rollins because I came back from the mall to find some ornaments on the floor...

Oh Rollins!! I'm sure I'll find some ornaments on my floor too, whenever I finally get my tree up!!

There is something odd about our trees this year...they look great..but they dont look GREAT!! I just cant seem to put my finger on it and its driving me crazy. I have found over the years that sometimes you can have a tree that you can look at for hours and never see anything you want to change. Idk..I just cant figure them out.

I have had years like that. I hope you get it figured out! xx

Good Sunday afternoon! I've been going non-stop since 8am this morning to finish preparations for tonight's work Christmas party. I thought I was feeling better when I woke up but I still am getting coughing fits and I am now out of energy. Time to go to the hairdresser and then dress-up and go to the hall to set things up. I'll be glad when this is done. We did not have time to decorate, disappointed about that. Hope everyone is enjoying a nice Sunday.

Hello everyone! Well, I have a dilemma. The Christmas tree sellers that I've been buying my trees from for close to 20 years have lost the use of the place they normally set up, and now I have no idea where to get a tree! And they were such nice people, too. I've been looking around the neighborhood hoping that they found some other place to set up, but no such luck. Hopefully I find a tree lot before December 24th! I do have an artificial one in storage, but besides being darn hard to set up, I like the smell of a real tree. So everyone please cross your fingers and toes for me!

oh, I got the outdoor lights up today with the help of my son. They are not perfect, but they are colourful and just the way he likes them !

Work Christmas party done. We had a record turn out (88 employees out of the 90 who had signed up) and it was a lot of fun and a real success. I'm just happy it's over though, it's so much preparations each year. I'm monitoring my cold, I get bad coughing fits after the smallest exertion. May be bronchitis, I don't know. I'm giving myself until Wednesday and if there's no improvement, I'll go to the clinic. Now some much needed rest. I work at 1pm tomorrow, hopefully I can relax. Good night everyone!

Our family Thanksgiving was a good time, watching Christmas movies and eating turkey.
I have tomorrow off now, Inventory is back on again after being told all month there was not going to be one in November. Oh well, what can you do.
