Christmas Countdown - 2017

We have our town festival this weekend - we live across the street from it, so we have the "party neighborhood" this week. LOL We always have friends & neighbors over on the Wed night before - we use to make 20 gallon of chili so Wed was our onion chopping, burger browning, etc night & friends would come help. We don't do the soup anymore, but continued with the party! Our back yard neighbors always have the patio party Thursday before the fest & then Friday all craziness begins! Our town will go from a population of under 2,300 to 80,000 + (over the course of the weekend)
My hubby bought a tent this year, the neighbor guys helped him get it all set up Monday night to cover our patio - should work out really nice! Our friends will be pulling their camper in tomorrow night.

Morning everyone ... Off today as the kids have orthodontist appts and I have a few other errands to run. Picked up another Christmas gift last night and have started thinking about gift ideas for family members. I really need to start picking stocking stuffers so I think I will start picking up a couple each pay. Hope to get back on here later. Have a great day

I had a rough start ... just couldn't troubleshoot why my laptop wasn't picking up audio from the mic. 20 frustrated minutes later, I found out the mute button was on.

Only thing is that going back after that amount of time is VERY difficult. It's hard enough to go back after a 3 day weekend. In some areas they do more of an even thing where you go year-round and get 3 weeks off at a time then go to school for 8-10 weeks straight.

Funny schools only go a set length of time due to not wanting to lose Federal Subsidies. We always got out of school in early May and went back in early August. Kids did get out of school to help with tobacco,peanuts harvest..but I never considered that a extra vacation..lol. I doubt I ever knew a kid in school that had perfect attendence.

Well that wasn't great lunch. I got all the dusting done at home, then went upstairs to get some boxes that needed to be broken down for recycle. I had a big box filled with more boxes. Missed the last step & fell kaboom on my knees!!! I will probably have pretty knees for the festival!! Then I found ants in Gracie's food, so got that cleaned up. Then I forgot to fill my water jug before I came back. So I stopped at the carry out for a sandwich, Pepsi & a water. GEEZ!!! I did get all the boxes broken down though... LOL

I always got 1 week off to sucker tobacco, another week to setup for peanuts. Same went for harvest times. We never grew cotton because the profit ratio was small. We had close to 100 pecan trees and peaches. I only wish we had cows..lol

Happy Thursday MMC! Friday Eve is here and we head into another beautiful day here. Without that humidity it feels so nice in the warm sun. I love this weather. We should see temps near 80 with sunshine today. I'm off on Monday so I have another long weekend to look forward to before my brother comes from San Diego. Anyone have any fun weekend plans yet? And it's hard to imagine that the 4th of July is getting so close. Hope everyone has a good day today!

Good morning ~
It's going to be a beautiful day, sunny with a high of 77 degrees. Our pool liner is finally going to be replaced today. We originally thought it would be in by Memorial Day but they ran in to groundwater problems. Hopefully all goes well. I'm going to sneak out of here if I can to run a couple of errands. Other than that it will just be a typical day, I'll be working on my daily chores.

Good morning MMC! Merry Friday Eve!! Looks like it's going to be a warmer/more humid day today before a cool down again tomorrow! I think we will be needing sweat shirts for the evenings at the festival!! We're supposed to have rain moving in overnight & all day tomorrow! Booo! Hopefully it gets it out of it's system & the fest has great weather. It's only supposed to be in the 70's all weekend.
Our pre-fest party last night was a lot of fun/relaxing. It was a nice night - the tent worked out well.
