Christmas Countdown - 2017

I had the pattern picked out before the yarn ... I've made it twice before. Lots of texture, including hearts done in cluster stitches. Looks impressive when it's finished! I don't know their decor color, so I just bought aran yarn. The textured patterns always look good in aran!

It's like that sometimes! Basic colors are modified, or specialty colors are dropped. I got partway through a black/white/gray afghan before I discovered they'd discontinued the lovely charcoal gray I'd been using.

However, I use the inexpensive acrylic yarn, so if I get halted like that, I just rip out the unfinished project and make something smaller from the yarn, like hats or squares. There's always a way to use up the scraps!

"Happy" Monday MMC friends!

My Gracie could use any extra prayers available. She went back to the vet this morning. Jim dropped her off on his way to work. She didn't have a great weekend. She hasn't eaten since she left the vet on Friday & she started throwing up & she's had some diarrhea again. My poor sweetie! She's breaking our hearts!

What crazy weather over the weekend. It was so chilly in our trailer at night. Our neighbor turned on her fireplace! It's August!!! Crazy! During the day was beautiful though! Perfect weather!

Hope you all had a nice weekend! Back to the grind...

Hello everyone. Sorry I've been away for while. Time keeps flying by. Our son is starting his senior year of college. He will graduate in May and is engaged to be married in June. Hard to believe this was his last summer at home. This coming Thanksgiving and Christmas will be the last ones with him living at home. My career is winding down and I plan to retire in June. The wife is 5 year younger than me so she still has a few years to go. Lots of changes.

I'm in Atlanta, travelling for work this week. I have three lunch meetings with nothing in between, so I'm spending a lot of time at the hotel LOL.

Were sending cards packages, for the kids in East Africa .

I wish that we could expand past this one group of kids ..

But there's just so much we could do !

Morning MMC! Today we expect a high of 67 with afternoon and evening showers. A damp late August day here. I remember in July we had a few days we got stuck in the 60s and today will be a repeat of that here in August. Summer is winding down which is a little sad to me...even though I love the Bers the most. 3 days till the Bers. Anyway, should be another busy day at work and everyone is talking about Labor Day Weekend already there. Hope Gracie is doing better holiday and hope everyone else is doing ok also as our favorite time of year approaches.

Well guys, it's with very heavy heart I report in this morning that we had to say goodbye to our sweet Gracie yesterday! Everything was shutting down - she was a sick girl! No more suffering for my baby! What an awful, horrible day! As hard as it was, we knew we were doing the right thing! My poor sweet girl. She was dealt a raw deal! She's forever in our hearts!
