Christmas Countdown - 2017

Good evening everyone.
Well, feeling a little better today. I went to work and made it through the day.

However, received sad news when I got to school. Our principal, who is new this year, announced she is resigning due to health issues. She did not go into detail, but she has been out several days and half days for various tests. She fought cancer several years ago and, though I do not have confirmation, I think it has returned. She will be missed at the school and I truly hope everything works out for her. Please keep her in your thoughts.

In happier news, tomorrow morning we are going out for breakfast at a local place and then headed to the local farm/market to pick up some pumpkins. We may even see a few snowflakes early in the morning. Then tomorrow evening, the wife and I get to go out for date night! Dinner, movie, shopping.

Right now I am watching Bob Ross paint winter and fall scenes and listening to the heavy rain outside. My wife is busy making Henry's Halloween costume.

Happy Saturday Morning & Halloween Weekend to the MMC Community. Yesterday was interesting and exhausting. Got home from work at 7:30AM, caught about an hour & a half worth of sleep, ate, showered and headed down to the Zoo to help get the final touches put on before the first day of the Zoo Boo. We had close to 300 carved pumpkins to spread out over the path and get the LED candle style lights put in each. Then helping vendors with tents, readjusting some of the inflatables and getting candy out to the tents as well. Got home around 4PM, changed into my referee costume, picked up my wife and daughter (they helped as well) and headed back to the event.
I helped do relief for some of the other volunteers until just about the end of the day. It was cold (as predicted) and we did get a dusting of snow (along with a few snow snakes on the road). So around 8:15PM, just before the actual closing, the volunteer coordinator came up to me and said "Chris, you need to collect your wife and daughter and go home while you can still drive." I guess the day was starting to show...
So we left, stopped by "The Bell" and I barely got through my dinner before Mr Sandman made his arrival.
Today and tomorrow the times will be 2PM - 7:30PM. But with a good night's sleep, it should go a lot better. And I do not go back to work until the evening of the 1st.
Well, that long "note" brings me up-to-date. Have fun all and a enjoyable weekend...

And just like that, it's Halloween again! Happy Halloween, everyone! We'll be handing out candy tonight and watching a couple Halloween shows on video. It's pretty much perfect Halloween weather here, although I suspect many of you would like it to be colder! (That's coming in November---which starts tomorrow!)

Happy Halloween Merry. Going to be on the colder side here with a high expected to be only in the low 40's. Hopefully it does not discourage the kids too much (or the parents). Have a fun and festive 31st...

Happy Saturday everyone! We (myself and the girls) have been decorating for Halloween this morning, they have just gone upstairs to make some more paper chains for their bedroom so I thought I would take the opportunity to grab a quick coffee and browse the forums.

I took mum shopping yesterday and ended up buying a couple of new Christmas decorations, it's the first for this year, can't wait to get them up! Hubby rolled his eyes when I showed them to him....i would have thought after 17 years together he would be used to me by now haha!

Happy Halloween everyone!

New member here. Been reading the countdown for a few weeks now but didn't want to start posting or get too involved as I didn't want to get into the Christmas spirit too early However as today is Halloween I'm going to allow myself to start getting excited!

I'm in my second year at university here in England and found I lost a lot of my Christmas spirit last year due to the combination of spending half of December away from home and the stress from university. I'm looking forward to celebrating with you all this year and think it will help a lot while I'm away from home.

Hope you all have an amazing Halloween.

Welcome JL and Happy Halloween to you from across the pond. I've been where you are, but not so much college as being a member of the military. The people here are phenomenal and will give those Christmas spirits a warm-up to be sure. Jump on in whenever you have a chance we would all love to hear from you. And just to get it started...

Happy Halloween, MMC!!! It’s off to a chilly start here. I had to scrape the windows before leaving for the doctors office. I hope the kids bought costumes they could bundle up in! This picture I texted the groomer & said "this looks like Lucy is saying ~Hurry up & take the *$#% picture!!! I want to play with Emmy!!" She said that is exactly what was happening & Emmy wasn't happy about it either! LOL!!!

Good morning, everyone!

It's a beautifully sunny morning in Canada's Capital. It's the calm before the storm, however. We're going to get hit later this evening by a fairly massive rainfall. They're predicting about 50-60mm/6cm/2.3inches. I am really hoping that there's some cover for my 5km race tomorrow. Even so, it's going to be a wet one!

At the moment, we're just waking up and should be on our way in about an hour or so. It's going to be an exciting day. I really hope that we find our Christmas Tree of years to come. Obviously, it won't be going up for another 16 days, but it will be very nice to have in our possession... especially with their current sale prices!

Good morning!

Holy smokes! Has it really been almost two weeks since I have been here? Boy, talk about busy....two seperate trips out of town, a board meeting, and four football games have tied me up. Not to mention going to a pumpkin patch and a corn maze last weekend. Good times. We were going to go to a "Zoo Boo" tonight, but it is pretty darn cold. Instead, we are going to go to Bass Pro and meet Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

Not to interfere with oru beloved countdown here, but I got one I want to share....

Happy Saturday to one and all! Watching QVC with my new, lovely and darling wife! Yes, I got married to a very spectacular woman (IE... one that can put up with me, LOL!!!!). I am now an official resident of Connecticut as well. Yes Maryland man (engineer) marries Connecticut woman (school teacher); Wow.... It's been a really cool and wild road trip, glad I didn't go to Vegas! LOL!!!

Hot diggity dog, it's that time of year again, QVC has Christmas on, Hallmark channel is airing Christmas movies and all the stores are filled with Christmas decorations! Gotta Love it!

I was just telling my wife all about that year on QVC when poor ole Rudolph took a really rough ride, against his will.....She laughed so hard!

I really miss you guys and being here. Don't be surprised if you don't start seeing me here a bit more often. Have a great night and a blessed Sunday.

I know, it's totally a mid-life crises thing! I had an itch that I just had to scratch... Its got a 6.4 ltr, twin turbo; with a 35 gallon diesel tank, 350 horsepower, 600lbs of torque and it gets a whole 13 miles to the gallon. It has a fifth wheel connection but I don't own anything (yet) to use it with....LOL! Sure it hurts the wallet to ride around in it, but it's really fun to drive.

Happy Halloween, Christmas friends!

Elizabeth played in the Powder Puff Football games last night. It's intended as a fund-raiser for the prom, and the girls in each HS grade play against each other. The Junior girls came in third place. That means they lost to either the Sophomores, or the Freshmen...or both! LOL It was a lot of fun, but it was cold!

Speaking of cold, it's supposed to be in the low 80's this weekend. Wow, that's a big change from frost yesterday.

Work is crazy, so I better get back to it.

I hope the race went well & you found a perfect tree!!!

The race went OK, Holiday! My time was about 34 seconds slower than I had wanted, but I felt as if I ran hard. We purchased a very nice tree. More expensive than I wanted... We both agree that it was the best (fake) tree out of the three or four stores we went to. It is going to look wonderful in home in less than two weeks!

Good morning and Thank you so much to everyone who sent us well wishes and congratulations. The morning here is a wet one for sure, we are supposed to get a tremendous amount of rain here, about 3-5 inches within the next 24 hours. Can you imagine if that amount of rain, would of have been snow? That would of have been just awesome!!! What would that of been, like 30-50 inches of snow? Oh yea, sign me up!!!!

I'm all ready for the snow this year, I went out and bought myself a Ford F-350 super duty Lariat, Diesel, one ton dually 4x4; so, yes, I have a six wheel drive on stand by, all ready for the coming New England snows!!!! It's my (Country boy) mid life crises truck! LOL!!!

Hoping you all stay dry and warm today, enjoy your sunday! You know what, today feels like a good day to make cookies.

That's what I did yesterday. Cut out sugar cookies - ghosts, pumpkins & turkeys!

A Marvelous Monday morning to the MMC community. I was under the weather yesterday and so missed the final day of the Zoo Boo. I dress as a court jester/mime on Saturday and had a great time with both children and parents. Feeling much better today. After my weekly bout with the trash, I will get the yard raked up (again) and perhaps a quick trip to get the candy for Halloween.
Yes, I know it is tomorrow, but the less time it sits around the house, the more we actually have to hand out...
I'm thinking Parmesan chicken breasts, garlic mashed potatoes and seasoned corn w/biscuits might be a nice Monday evening meal.
Have a funday Monday all and get ready for those ghosts and goblins...
