My mom laughed when I told her. She said the real tree will be worse and it probably will.. but it only needs to hang in there for a month or so VS lasting years. My oldest daughter (12) started volunteering this past summer at the animal shelter so I was somehow talked into 3 kittens! Of course the one I picked is the one causing all of the trouble!! The other two could care less. She's something else.
Awe - go figure! :p She sounds like a character! You'll have to keep us posted how she does with the real tree! xx

Good morning!

I hope everyone has been more productive than me this holiday season! Thanksgiving is fast approaching and all I have so far is the turkey. I've got to get to the store this weekend and buy the rest of the meal. And I'm so behind on my Christmas shopping! I normally start in July when the Christmas spirit starts to hit but this year I JUST started last week. Four kids on Christmas morning so it usually takes starting early! When we bought this house, the first thing I did was change the knob on my closet door to one with a key JUST for a place to hide presents. :D It's looking sad in there to be this close to Christmas! I'm hoping to get most of it done next weekend. My oldest has just asked for clothes so that's easy enough. I have no clue where to start with the others. I ask for lists and I get the dreaded "I don't know". I've been looking into the Meccano robot Max for my son. When I showed my daughter, she said don't buy that for him, I want that! Lol. She's my little helper since she found out about Santa two years ago. It's nice to be able to talk about presents with her but sad too that they're getting older. :( Guess I'll be shopping with the crowds this year!

Update on the kitten since we took the tree down.. she found another, but I'm sure it's not quite as fun for her. :p

Nope, can't stay mad at that face!! :) She's an adorable little mischievous kitty!! :D
I hope all your holiday planning/prep comes together w/o any hitches!
Have a great day!

I'm glad that turned out in your favor, and that they made good on the defective tree. Enjoy your new Christmas tree! (And post pix please!)

Thanks, MerryCarey! I will take and post some photos shortly. Kim and I think that the old tree was an older version of the tree, too. This one has a bunch more options and a remote to turn it on/off as well as change the settings. It looks beautiful!

Morning MMC! Happy Friday Eve! Next week Friday Eve will be one of the best days of the entire year. We have the turkey ready also but need to get some more items for Thanksgiving this coming weekend. Just another day today and it's raining this morning. They are forecasting a dry and cold Thanksgiving. Guess it's going to feel like the holiday season when it arrives. Have a great day!
So crazy that Thanksgiving is ONE week from today. It's going to be a crazy week too!!
Have a great day Edge!

Good morning MMC ~
Merry Thursday!
We’re expecting showers today with highs near 56 degrees. Not too much going on here. I have an appointment this afternoon to have my hair cut & colored. Other than that I will be working on my daily chores. I’m also trying to think of a birthday gift for my oldest daughter, her birthday is on Thanksgiving Day this year. Hopefully I’ll think of something special. Dinner will be chicken Parmesan and pasta. That’s about it for me.
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!!!

You'll be a beauty queen for the Holiday! :) Good luck finding a gift for your daughter! Enjoy your day!

Happy Friday Eve!!
Thanksgiving is only a week away...how is this happening so quickly?
I saw my first decorated house last night...they had red, green and white lights. So exciting to see it. Next Friday I will have to take my usual tour on the way home as I suspect more houses will be decorated!
Just work for me today...I hope you all have a great day!!
It is exciting to see Christmas lights in or on homes!!! So pretty!!
I also really can't believe Thanksgiving is a week from today. Next week at this time we'll be watching the Macy's parade! Ahhhh!
Have a great day SFM!

Happy One Week to Thanksgiving, all!

We did some shopping errands last night ... I was determined to not go Christmas-nuts, but I bought all new garland for the tree, some outdoor garland, a Christmas blouse, and various other seasonal items. It'll be fun putting all those to good use soon!
Ooooh, fun shopping!!! Happy one week to Thanksgiving too you!

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

Elizabeth's One-Act Play State competition was awesome, and the kids put on their best performance yet! Alas, there were only three places awarded out of eight schools, and ours was not among them. :( Still, I was impressed at the dignity with which the kids accepted their loss. They are a great group of kids! Elizabeth is still at home preparing for a big History test. I have to leave in a bit to take her to school.

Later, I'm taking Nancy's car for an oil change, getting ready for our mountains vacation starting Saturday! Yippee!!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
Oh fun...a trip to the mountains!!! I know you're looking forward to that!
Good luck to Elizabeth on her test. Sorry they didn't place at state, but sounds like they did an awesome job!
Have a great day Brad!

Good morning, everyone!

I barely had time for anything yesterday. Actually, for the past two days, my MacBook has remained in my backpack once I arrived home from teaching. Tuesday was due to having to return and then setup the new tree. Yesterday, I returned from the gym and had to leave within 10 minutes to meet an old friend from elementary and high school that was in town for just over a day. I hadn't seen her since 2010! It was great to catch up!

The only downfall was hanging out with my friend and her boyfriend was that I didn't get to hangout beside the tree at all. We didn't get home until about 10pm. Kim and I were exhausted, so we only had time to go over some Thank You cards and then go to bed. Oh well!

Glad to see the weekend is so close. Hopefully I'll at least have one day to sleep in. I'm also excited for my first Christmas Party of the year. After this weekend, actually, there isn't at all a free weekend between now until the New Year. 'Tis the Season, isn't it?!

Well, I should get back to work. I have a pretty awesome Grade 9 Geography class right now and we're just watching a video on Ice Storms.

Have a great Thursday, everyone! Keep enjoying the Christmas Season. I'm still waiting for our usual local radio station to turn to everything Christmas music. Then, Christmas will truly be everywhere!
Have a great day! Hope you find some time for sitting by that new tree! :):)
Our weekends are packed full starting this weekend already. Actually, Thanksgiving weekend (after Friday) should be a pretty quiet one, but after that, look out!!!

Morning all!! Raining and cold here and the continuation of the "Garland Fiasco" continues. I decided we need new Garland for one tree and locally all i could find was the skinny thin stuff..WalMart,Lowes, Home Depot only had the junky Dollar Store stuff. Ordered from Amazon..the seller lied and showed a different picture of it. Return shipping 50% of garland cost + 20% restock fee..lol Bronners was contacted and there it was...lush,plump garland..woohoo.

I struggled for years with a pre-lit tree as new parts of it failed each year, so I felt for you! I'm glad you got one that works with all the features. It SOUNDS beautiful.

I string my own lights now. I don't have a remote, but I plug them into a power strip so I can just hit a switch to turn it on or off. I hadn't thought about it before, but if I plugged them into a timer, I wouldn't even have to bother with the switch ... and they would be on to greet us when we get home from work. Hmmm ...

Glad you were able to get the garland you really wanted! Sometimes the dollar-store stuff just won't do.

Thank you Holiday ~
Sending up prayers for Lucy, I hope her tummy is better by now. Sending hugs!
Thank you HMG! Fingers crossed she's fine in her cage this morning! xx

Sorry to hear that Elizabeth did not place but such an awesome experience.
Have a great vacation!

Good morning MMC!! Merry Friday Eve!! What a dreary morning it is! Wish I were home by me tree. Ho hum! ;)

So after being fine for about 40 hours or so, little miss Lu had us up every couple hours overnight again with the poopers! She acts totally fine & crazy. This morning I couldn't get her to go, she just wanted to PLAY!! Hopefully she's fine in her cage this morning until I get home for lunch. So strange!

Well last night while running errands I saw 2 more homes with big bright glowing multi colored lighted tree's in their windows!! YAY!! LOVE LOVE LOVE to see that!!

Everyone, have a great day!

It is pouring here today...such a good day to lay on the couch and watch Christmas shows!
Poor Lucy..Andre had a stomach thing a few months ago...it seemed to be a virus. He was acting completely normal but had to go out a lot.
So exciting to see more houses!

I took Leo to the vet for his check-up an hour or so ago he is doing fine but he was a complete nervous wreck! I had to hold him in my lap the whole time...lol He loves going in the car but somehow he knew we were going to the vet...he gave me a look and started to shake...lol So glad that is over!

Awe! I'm glad Andre is better. I'm wondering if it's a virus or if it could be from the flea & tick med? Whatever it is, I hope it goes away soon.
Yes, so exciting! LOVE IT!
