Good evening folks. I hope everyone is having a nice evening. There's going to be a full moon out tonight in case you see anyone acting oddly or doing strange things tonight. Then, in less than 2 days away from now, we will be in the month June and then, before you know it, the middle of the calendar year and then CIJ. Now that, is exciting to me.

Its a quiet evening here tonight, sort of a resting period. I was upset earlier after I got home from work and I was going to make a post about it here tonight about what I was upset about, but I decided against it. I got home and my wife was upset and started to cry, as she was telling me her day. It's all because of her job and the bad students in her classroom that just ruin the teaching and structure for the day to the rest of the students that really want to learn. She's frustrated, because she cares and tries so hard, but there are some students (a handful) that just makes her life miserable (as a teacher) in the classroom because they are so disruptive, abusive, prejudice and disrespectful to her and the other teachers also. Those kids wont do their work, nor do they care because there will be no ramification from anyone, for them not doing it. It's a terrible shame.

Man, when I was in 6th grade, and if I ever acted or did anything like what those kids do, first I would get it by the office, probably a 3 day suspension, then when I got home, it's there that I would of really gotten it. First by my mother and then second by my father when he got home from work. Lets just say, I would of had a sore bottom for awhile.....

My heart goes out to your wife, I know it’s not easy to be a teacher in this day and age. She deserves a big thank you for all that she does every day.

Good morning ~
Merry Pines Day!
It’s a dreary, foggy morning here. It’s supposed to stay mostly cloudy and we’ll have temperatures in the upper 60’s. I’m just having my coffee and relaxing for a few minutes. I straightened up the house and started laundry so far. I’m going to take Rocky for a walk as soon as I finish my coffee. I also plan on making a Target run and stopping at Barnes & Noble today. Dinner will be spaghetti & meatballs and mozzarella bread. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone has a nice day. See you tonight!
xx

Good morning MMC! Merry Pines Day!! Nice that this is the 2nd work day of the week & it's already pines day! :)
Nothing major going on today. Supposed to get rain. It's dreary & breezy now ~ the breeze feels good! Looks like there's a lot of green/orange/yellow swirling around out there on the radar. Hopefully everyone in the path stays safe!
Have a great day MMC!

Good Morning, Peak-of-the-Weekers.
(And the view to the weekend is great from up here!)

Speaking of views, let's take a peek at the latest numbers, then a surreptitious glance at the closeness of our next Milestone.

The figures:
Days to the Season: 167
Days to Christmas Day: 209

And there you have it -- SINGLE DIGITS to the 200-Day Christmas Day marker and the commencement of a double-100's count.
(The start of a gradually quickening pace towards our season of choice!)

The rain just won't quit and the weather service promises more. (It's a good thing we don't live in a flood zone!)
This morning? Well, surprise! It looks like rain again.
(Sorry. Feeling a little sarcastic after so many wet days in a row.)
Our current temperature here in the capital city is 75 degrees.

Well, it's 'Pines Day once again, and our frienly activities director is not concerned in the least about rain. Things are alway sunny at our inn of choice, whether or not it's raining outside.
So put on your best sunny disposition, whet your appetite for the tastiest fired twinkies on the planet, your thirst for the softest, smoothest iced tea and pay your respects to Carl, who will no doubt greet each and every customer at the door with a sunny smile.
(And you haven't lived until you've see a camel with a sunny smile!)

Until that time, you have a Wonderful Wednesday, Folks!

:mad:We got word this morning that Mom is going to be discontinued from the Hospice program June 14th! :( That is good news/bad news! They are a big help!!! I guess we'll figure something out!!! They have supplied the hospital bed, railings, lift chair, chair alarm, wheel chair, walker, portable toilet ~ they also supply her boost (protein drink) & all her meds so we don't have to take her out to the doctor. Their aid also comes in 2x per week to give her a shower & they send music therapy about once a month. This will be interesting!
Sorry to hear this, Holiday. I hope you can come up with a resolution that works for everyone.

Sorry to hear you had a rough night. My daughter is a 6th grader and my best friend is a 6th grade math teacher and she tells me some stories and I smh at what some these kids do. I am chaperoning my daughter's field trip tomorrow and I am hoping it goes well..
Hope you both have a better day today!

Happy Pines Day! Looks like we will have a partly sunny day around 80. I was reading a weather blog that I follow and they are saying that we are going to have a cooler June...we'll see. I am chaperoning my daughter's field trip tomorrow looks like it will be cooler in the low 70's. Hope you all have a great day!

Sending prayers <3

I’m very sorry that the aid you have been receiving is being discontinued. Is it because of budget cuts? I’m sending your family positive thoughts for you to find a solution.

Praying that a solution will easily be found! {{{HUGS}}}

Sorry to hear this, Holiday. I hope you can come up with a resolution that works for everyone.
Thanks everyone! I don't believe it has to do with budget cuts. Apparently to stay in the Hospice program your condition has to be worsening. It's Moms heard condition that qualified her for Hospice, even though she's gotten weaker & she can't walk anymore & she sometimes falls, & she gets confused, that's not enough to consider her heart condition worsening. My sister asked me last night if we need to have a graduation party for mom. HA! She said she didn't know if she should laugh or cry! ;)

Happy Pines Day MMC! It was a very warm and humid day yesterday. Made me think to myself how it's going to be a long summer yet somehow I know it will go too fast. Anyway, it's amazing that the kids will be out of school in a few weeks. Feel like they just went back around Labor Day. Have a great Mid-Week!
Have a good day Edge!

I have the greatest respect for teachers and the fortitude they show in dealing with what goes on in classrooms today---the full gamut from unruly "students" to school shootings. I wouldn't be able to take it, and I have a lot of admiration for those who do because they're dedicated to providing a quality education for the sake of those kids who want to learn. More power to your Mrs.!

I'm sorry a few disruptive kids are bringing your wife to tears. You're right; there are few consequences for bad behavior in school these days, and it emboldens some students to take advantage of it. Bless her heart, I hope it improves for her.

Good Wednesday morning, Christmas friends!

It's still raining every day, so I can't do much work in the yard (Sorry, Nancy, it's just too wet ;)). I've actually spent a little time computer-gaming lately. I used to be obsessed, but life got to be busier than my gaming habit could stand, so I pretty much gave it up. The rain, however, has given me some free time, and I've been blowing up all kinds of bad guys LOL.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Teaching is a different profession than it was 20 years ago, there is no doubt. Consequences are different depending on the district. My district used quite a bit of discipline, but we overall we have really good kids. I teach in a small rural district where there is still a fair amount of discipline at home. That is where it has to start. If there are no consequences at home, no amount of discipline at school will matter. The few students who we do have problems with have nothing at home. The only part of their day with ANY structure is at school. Some of these kids' home lives are soooooo horrible. Much of the bad behavior is simply a cry for someone to pay attention to them. There are elementary kids who go home to find mom passed out on the couch from drugs or alcohol. Then it is up to that child to make dinner, take care of smaller siblings, etc... It is no wonder they struggle to behave at school.
We had a girl (high school age) who went home to find her mother dead from an overdose! It is so sad what some of these kids deal with everyday. :(

Schools have their hands tied too. Parents complain and file lawsuits against schools if the punishment is too "harsh." Yet schools are being forced more and more to deal with student behavior outside of school hours and on social media. Yet, when schools try to act, they are shut down by parents and a legal system that does not know how to deal with the issues either.

I wish there were easy answers for schools, but there are not. First, parents need to take some responsibility at home and make their kids accountable.

All of that said, the majority of kids today are good kids, but like all kids (including all of us when we were that age) they make poor decisions and need some direction.

Sorry for the long post, I was trying to to provide some clarity on the issue of schools and discipline as it is a hot topic everywhere these days. :)

Hello all,

Not too much on the agenda today. It is sunny and breezy outside at the moment, though storms are suppose to roll in later this afternoon.

I did enjoy sitting outside by the garden drinking coffee. I was able to watch three squirrels chase each other around the yard and up the tree. It was quite entertaining.

About the only thing I "need" to do today is work on my thesis introduction and organize my chapters. The intro and basic organization is due Sunday night, so I have some time.

Well, everyone have a great Wednesday!
