Event Recap Chat with Duke Allen about Christmas Flipsides and Flops

Record labels and producers often guessed wrong when they predicted which side of a 45-rpm single would be the A side, as we seen with Patti Page. Here's another "B" that made good -- this one embodies doo-wop. (You can actually hear the backup group singing "dooooo... WOP!") "Dig That Crazy Santa Claus" by Oscar McLollie and HIs Honey Jumpers. This one rocks.

Sorry, I missed the last 5 minutes. Microsoft Edge crashed my computer. Went over to Chrome.

One of my favorite songs that I was introduced to by Kringle Radio!

I played that on one of my hours last year ... the whole hour was harmony groups.

1950?

No clue here, either.

I'm going with whatever Duke says...

Rock-’n’-roll didn’t mix with Christmas until 1957. That’s when Elvis Presley came out with a Christmas album on RCA. Dot countered with a Pat Boone Christmas EP (seven-inch "extended play" record with four songs) but otherwise none of the hot young singers went there, because their record labels were keeping Christmas safe from rock.
