Logans Series!

The following photos were all taken yesterday at Logan Trading Post where we travel every year to look for a Christmas tree and poinsettia.

1) The exterior.
There are always twin, flanking wreaths.

2) All sorts of eye-catching decorative items for sale!

3) This is just a small sampling of the trees for sale.
I like the way they are suspended from the ceiling so you can turn and see them in the round.

4) and 5)
If you can't find a poinsettia you like here, you're probably too picky!

6) Poor Santa looks like he's stepped into a quicksand of poinsettias (and isn't too pleased about it!)
I like the antique-looking clock.

7) A collection of lit trees grab your attention just inside the entrance.

8) And how nice to walk under this decorated arch!

Going to Logans is one of the true highlights of the Christmas Season for us!

Hotel series.
I always like to make the rounds of the local hotels each Christmas season. There's always some festive photo-ops!

1) Marriott.
The Marriott normally has an excellent set of decorations but they are undergoing a complete renovation this year and just had this tree up in their temporary basement lobby.
(Still a nice tree!)

2) The Embassy was also a disappointment this year with just this lone tree with accompanying packages to greet the season. The desk clerk said they are also on the verge of renovation.

3) This festive tree was found in a hallway near the Hampton's lobby.

4) Continuing at the Hampton.
An exterior column sports this holiday greenery.

5) While this garland greets guests over the front entrance.

6) A touch of Christmas adorns the base of this lamp on a lobby table.

7) The Renaissance Hotel at a different, outside mall shopping center decorates every other balcony in front.

8) Lamp decoration just outside the hotel.
Now that's classy! I love little touches like this at the holidays.

That clock is beautiful, Crown. I wonder how it would look with a wreath?

Both of these are quite classy. The touch on the lamp makes it appear as if it is wearing a tie.

As promised, here are some photos from Alight at Night in Morrisburg, Ontario. Alight at Night is held every year at Upper Canada Village. It is a spectacular display of more than a million Christmas lights set in an 1850s-style village.

It was a magical experience. I had a great time. Kim did as well. I only wish that the photos came out a little more clear. I hope they post OK! Please let me know if they don't...

A nicely lit home:

The old-fashion light tower. Apparently, you used to be able to climb the stairs and "overlook" the village atop the "house."

The tower and the barn:

The view from the barn:

Candy cane lighting outside the eatery:

Brand new Ferris wheel this year. Unfortunately, the ferris wheel was raggedy. The long lineup of about an hour or so did not meet the expectations. Disappointing.

Hmmm, I could right click on the x in the photo box before, and click "show picture" but that is no longer working. I noticed that the site seems to be having trouble loading pages lately. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Either way, what a gorgeous and magical place Upper Canada Village is!

I will try and fix this now! They are still showing up on my computer, which is strange.
