Good morning all....have a great weekend except it ended all to fast! Made some cookies with the kids over the weekend, watched a Muppets Christmas & Polar Express, made a big batch of chili yesterday and bought 2 more presents. I am really resisting the urge to start wrapping.

Oh well ....have a great day.

I've put all of the christmas shopping we bought at the weekend away today. We'll be doing some more this weekend too.

I feel like I've felt the day cleaning, but its almost 5.30 now so the day is almost over. I have a lovely clean house.

Quick question about the Christmas season. Why does it end Jan 1? What about the 12 days of Christmas?
Back in the day, people would put their tree up on Dec. 24 and leave it up for the 12 days. Growing up, we would always have our Christmas decorations up until at least Jan. 6 (and usually a little beyond). I usually keep mine up until we stop singing Christmas songs at church. The epiphany (visit of the three wise men) is traditionally celebrated on Jan. 6. Long ago, the even was candlemas.

Seems appropriate to go all 12 days, doesn't it?

Of course, I do realize that it's not the same after Jan. 1. The Christmas season is still alive (in my home anyways) until Jan. 6, but it is never the same. Christmas vanishes from the stores and the radio by then, but I still enjoy seeing the lights up on the lamp posts and in the windows of the homes in my neighborhood until the 12 days are over.

Well, that has been a crusade for many of us, to encourage the celebration of all 12 days of Christmas. Keep the Christmas music on the radio, keep the Christmas programs on television, keep the Christmas trees up. I'd gladly give up 11 days of that from mid or late November if they would transfer it to December 26–January 5, when the weather is more Christmassy anyway. November has Thanksgiving to keep it company.

Well I'm officially embarassed...one month without a post...worst showing yet...But the season rolls on! I'llbe here for the big live countdown though...Kicking off the season! New shows coming on MerryChristmasRadio and a fabulouos shill in the air! I've thought of you all often and have missed posting but frankly time got away from me this year...Can't believe that it is the middle of October already! Seems like Christmas was about three months ago...And here it is almost a year ago...Hope all of you are well and it's great to see my good old friends Binger and Crown aboard and at the ready!

Hi All! Hope this finds all doing good! Bout to head out and go to a meeting, but I'll be back later to drink coffee and hang out...see ya then!

Good evening everyone and a Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians!

We had a great Thanksgiving lunch at Kim's sister's place this afternoon. It was delicious. Everything you could want and more! Kim's mom drove us back to Ottawa at around 3:30 since she did not want to drive back to Cornwall in the dark. We're back safe and sound.

The weather is getting quite cold! They are calling for wet snow this evening and there is absolutely no daytime high in the double digits (we're talkin' Celsius) for the next week! Incredible! While tomorrow will be one month until the Christmas Season, yesterday marked the one month mark until Kim and I will attend the TSO show here in Ottawa. We're both very excited!

Well, I hope that everyone has enjoyed their day. Whether you celebrated Thanksgiving or Columbus Day, it's definitely a great day of the year!

Got a good joke for everyone...

There was this class that every kid was standing up and telling everyone what their fathers did for a living. You got the typical answers...such as doctor, lawyer, coach, accountant, etc....

But there was this one little boy who stood up and said my dad is a drug dealer and he is involved in a gang and is actually in jail for attempted murder. The teacher stopped the activity right away and sent the class to play outside.

As everyone was leaving, she called the little man over and said "Honey, is all that true?" The little boy said "No Mam, my Dad really plays for the Cubs but I didn't want anyone to know!"

HAVE A GREAT DAY TOMORROW!!!

As a true Cardinals fan (no matter how their October plays/doesn't play out), I can ALWAYS appreciate a good "Cubs Suck" joke! Thanks for making my day :)

I'm checking in late tonight, and loving the fact that I see the countdown at 74 days. I am trying very hard to keep my October Christmas music sabbatical going. I usually try to lay off the Christmas music in October each year so that I can enjoy it that much more starting Nov. 1. It is tough, but so far I have resisted the urge. I know that it will be worth the wait!!

Hope that all of our Canadian friends had a lovely Thanksgiving! And to those of you that mentioned your first snow being on the way - keep it there with you! We don't need snow here in St. Louis! Post some pictures - that is the only way I really want to enjoy snow anyways LOL.

Good Morning!

Good morning!!!

Happy Birthday to Mumof2's hubby!!!

Just had to share that I made a "first" last night - my 1st ever sweet potato pie. I have never made or had one before! Unfortunately I am giving it to a friend for his b-day so I probably won't even get to try it, but it looks delicious & festive!!! I licked the spoon after I had the filling in the crust & it tasted YUM!!! I will have to make another for us!! Makes the house smell really good too!!

I'm off to read what I have missed since last week!! (1518 posts - you guys are crazy! LOL)
