Hi You guys.

weather is too warm over here...but ugly (rainy, mud everywhere)...we have started decorating yesterday....will continue later on...am just a bit tired today and dizzy

Good Sunday morning, my Christmas friends!

My cell phone was ringing at 7 AM. Wrong number. :-? Oh, get up and put on a pot of coffee.

I had to work all day yesterday, travelling around for my side business, but I had two Christmas music CDs in the truck, so it was great!

We had our fundraiser last light to help pay for our town's Christmas banners. It went wonderfully! We had about 125 people stop to eat pancakes & sausage, we had a raffle, silent auction and karaoke...it was a blast!

Now I gotta get my crew up for church. I'll talk with you guys later!cheesy

Did someone say Coffee??

YABBA!

Good Sunday Morning !

Not usually home at this time on a Sunday. With all the hype about H1N1 I thought it best me and my cold stayed home today. Even gave the keys for the Sunday school bus to another driver :-?

Oh well, I am going to have fun hanging out here and listening to Christmas music! cheesy

the storm was worse than Isabelle 6 years ago...and the cleanup will be massive....

Yabba....

Hope you get to feeling better Christmasstar!

Well, the tree is up and going to get some gifts under it today! But before I move on to that, I'm going to make the wife some breakfast. Looking forward to a great day of football and doing some work, but also some time doing some online shopping and begin working on my Christmas cards! Also gotta start making a grocery list for next weekend so that we can have all of our stuff for Thanksgiving!

Should be a fun day...I'll pop in and out as the day goes! See y'all later!

Happy Eighth Anniversary to the Christmas dot com’ers!...

or Happy Eleventh Anniversary for the ones present from 1998 to 2000 when the forums were only Seasonal! (Still haven’t managed to locate these.)

Copied and pasted from last year:
Well, we hit another milestone so soon after entering the Season! This one is largely overlooked.

On November 15, 2001 a forum came along where a few of us would meet for the first time! Christmas.com was certainly the first Christmas forum for me! Now, I have found evidence suggesting that the C.com forums were around as far back as December 1998. However, the archive links are all dead. These forums or discussion newsgroups looked to be seasonal only. One could subscribe to updates http://tinyurl.com/5fq8q3 From the web site in 1998:

Christmas Interactive
Christmas.com has created a place for you to share your thoughts about Christmas with others from around the world. In participating, please be respectful while keeping in mind the family nature of this site. We reserve the right to cancel any posting in our groups for any reason. Everything is logged. There will be children who will read this as well as adults, so please be mindful of your comments. Enjoy!!

In 2000 there were places to post Christmas messages as articles without the benefit of a reply. http://tinyurl.com/68y6wu

Beginning in 2001 the forums again were brought back in the format of which we would become familiar. Since November 15, 2001 is the earliest date shown with zero posts, I would say that that was the starting point from which some of us began to join. - http://tinyurl.com/5cqbxt

There was a countdown started for the 2002 Season by a member named wishman35. Our own sgrover started a countdown for 2003 - http://tinyurl.com/5zsur7 and our own savingstar (more active at ChristmasTalk) started the 2004 countdown - http://tinyurl.com/64j7on

In 2005 savingstar started another countdown as did Crown 84 shortly thereafter - http://tinyurl.com/6xr7gr Of the two Crown’s survived to the end of the year. This is the format we follow today!

Our last look at Christmas.com before the rug was yanked out from under us is from August 14, 2006 with Crown again taking the helm of the 2006 Countdown Thread – http://tinyurl.com/5brdsv

So, Happy Anniversary you Christmas.comers! Here’s the jumping off point to comb the archives for yourselves! - http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.christmas.com Don’t forget to share what you find!

Of those of us still around, snowberry holds the distinction of being the longest continuous poster! – http://tinyurl.com/3akkha She was there almost from the start!

I know I have left some out! I apologize! I didn’t think there was that many of us still here, but there is. To add your Christmas.com profile, find a thread/post with your name on it and click on your name. Add yours to the list!

Some of you I have known four and a half years now! Others I have met there, in between, and here. Thanks for being a great group to hang out with in our corner of the internet World! Ya’ll are the best!
At this post time, the Wayback Machine is down for maintenance, but the links should be available by this afternoon.

Spent all day yesterday laying around not feeling good. Left class early because I was feeling so badly. I'm feeling much better today and I'm still just laying around! Gotta get some sleep though so I can go to work tonight on time. Hope everyone has a great week.

CHRISTMAS SEASON DAY # 3
Welcome, Friends, and Good Morning!

.....I’m always looking to experience Christmas as a child again. I know I can never really go back, except through memories, to those glorious times with family, neighbours, relatives, pets, etc. Times when I thought the walls would burst open from all the merriment. That could be part of my disappointment when Christmas rolls around. I wake up on Christmas morning expecting to be back in my bedroom with the hand-painted 100-Acre Wood wall in my bedroom and I'm seven again. Yet, I find at times I feel that special joy when I see children in a line-up waiting to share their secret wish with Santa, beautifully adorned Christmas trees, the smell of Scotch Tape as I wrap up special surprises or putting little notes into Christmas cards or Church Bells ringing on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day calling across the city "come, let us adore Him".

I love Christmas. Visiting here and sharing the best of Christmas during the year in some ways makes me feel like I'm seven again. The Christmas spirit shines through posts and brings me back to that magical time in my life.

Festive Regards,
Auntie Mistletoe......
Auntie! Good to hear from you.
And what a nice post! (Makes me wish we had set aside 6 special post days just so that could have been included.)
And so nice of you to recap the special posts for this year. Thanks!

And Radio! Also good to hear from you and take the trip down memory lane.
Seems like so long ago.
The only thing missing was mention of The Christmas Place where so many of us landed after the Christmas.Com forum abruptly was cancelled, and from which so many of us migrated here. It was a wonderful "safe island" on our journey here.

OK, on with the count:
Days to Christmas Day: 40
....and less than half a week now to the 90% Christmas Day mark, our final milestone of 2009!

Beautifully sunny here in Raleigh at this hour where we stand at a still cool 53 degrees on the way to a predicted high of 74. Nice!

Have a Super Sunday, Everyone!

(Anyone listening to Christmas music at this moment? I've got Mitch Miller's Christmas Sing-Along With Mitch on the player as I type this. Wonderful chorus!)

Wow, some of you folks have been here a while! If I'd been aware of it's existence, I would have joined up a long time ago, too.

Last week makes a year for me, anyway. I'm on the road, my friends!cheesy

It is a beautiful day here in central indiana. Not to hot and not to cold. I had a great time last night at my nieces 5th birthday party. Her parents got her a guitar and she was putting on a show for us. I told my brother in law that I expected him to teach her at least one christmas song before christmas. Today is going to be a day of relaxing and watching football and Nascar. I am lucky because the colts play the late night game tonight. So no flipping between channels today. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a great post Auntie!!!!!!

Hope you get to feeling better Christmasstar!

Well, the tree is up and going to get some gifts under it today! But before I move on to that, I'm going to make the wife some breakfast. Don't forget the race!!!!!!!!!! Six of junior's crew memebers were in a car accident this morning on the way to the track. None of them were injured but it just shows that the bad luck is still following them.

Well Coach the luck continues. Maybe next week I won't watch the race and see if he does better.

OMG Radio- to go back to that site..a nd yes, it does go back to circa 1998- I was in my previous house when I first went to it and I have beenin my current place for 10 years- Christmas.com was there from around August until February- it was owned by a retail outlet in Chesapeake VA- near me. the final year, it stayed up the entire year and did not shut down- then it suddenly disapepared one day.. we were all frantic.. Iremember my first post at thexmasplace. which is where we all met- I remember saying to Cedar and Jay and Crown.. " It's ok.. I'm here.. we're all here and all that matters is that we are all still together.. it doesn't matter where we are.. but we go on..." and the same post when we all landed here....where I do think we will never leave. I do miss some of the originals.. Sandy- though she pops in on occasion.. and Gracie.. my first friend at the forum...and I do miss Ceadr the most- b ut.. again,.. we go on.. we continue the sharing together.. with old friends and new.

Thanks Radio- awesome..... just terrfic,,,,

YABBA!

KALAMAZOO WHERE ARE YOU?

that's cool stuff...I like reading about that kinda thing! Neat!

Made...friend.....what will we do??

Hope all had a great weekend....bout to get to bed....LONG DAY tomorrow!

Good Evening Friends! Just wanted to drop in to say hey. I hope everyone had a nice weekend. It's chilly here this evening about 27 out. Feels much colder with the wind. I noticed a couple times this evening 4 police cars, 2 firetrucks and two ambulance headed out to the interstate. The snow was drifting from the fields and with the temps. dropping things tend to freeze and people seem to think they can still cruiz' at 75. I just pray everyone is ok. When s/o got off work this evening he mentioned he had heard they closed the interstate. I had gone out of town today and glad I made it back safe and sound and before dark. Have a good one!

:tree: Hi Everyone,
It's getting close to that time of year again and I'm in
the Christmas Spirit so thought I'd drop in and say hello to you all. It's a
chilly 49 degrees tonight in the outlying Seattle area. Have any of you seen snow yet? Well think I'll catch up with some of the posts here.

Hi Jeff! Hi ya Crown, Binge, Jay, Cedar and all the rest......and of COURSE Carl ! Auntie, I loved your post too about being 7 again. May we all keep
the little kid Christmas spirit alive and well within us!
