I hope you feel better Christmasstar!!!!!!

Today was a good day. Our radio station started the Christmas music this morning and we got some of our lights up outside. We still have to do the side of the house and the big evergreen out in front.

Hello! I hope everyone is having a good weekend!! Christmasstar, I hope you feel better soon! The local radio station has started playing Christmas music 24/7 - YAY!!!!

I am watching A christmas carol, the black and white version with Alastair Sim's as Scrooge. I think this is the best version of all the ones ever made!.....
Oh, absolutely, Christmasstar!

It's snowing -- finally! Not exactly a blizzard here, but a soft gentle falling snow that is completely windless. It's beautiful.....
Hey! How about a picture for the Christmas Blossoms thread, Jeff?

The weather has cleared up somewhat now, it's still a little windy but the rain has stopped.

Tomorrow may give a brief respite but it's back to square one for Monday through Wednesday with more rain on the way.

I wonder if I will ever get the outside lights up :(

I may be able to get a little done tomorrow but it still may be too gusty to climb a ladder.

i hope that everybody really enjoys the season this year, i hope that the season and the actual day is the best one yet for us all. i am so excited that we are here! for me there is plenty of christmas shopping to be done, plenty of christmas movies to be watched, plenty of christmas music to be played and plenty of love and laughter to be shared! let's make christmas 2009 the best one yet. cheesy

I'm right there with you, Johnor!!!

Binger....glad to see you made it out alright! Good luck to the rest being affected by the storm....

Wife and I just got done eating and putting up the tree....oh my oh my...more memories...I'm blessed....such a good time....

We have to be the luckiest people in the world here at MMC....

Good call on that, Johnor. So many signs of the Season are popping up now. An out of service bus today had their "Season's Greetings" message written where the bus number and route usually goes. It made me smile. I purchased new lights yesterday from Wal-Mart and they were playing Christmas music throughout the store, not only the Christmas section like last weekend. I was not able to get to the mall, but at least the Season is being welcomed throughout Ottawa!

Hope everyone is doing well today!! I can't believe i missed the countdown the other night:-? Well at least its officially the holiday season!

Good morning my Christmas loving friends…..here we are just days away from the start of the season......A season that is so full of magic and awe that it strikes adults and children a like. A season that we wait all year for, that once it does arrive it seems to end so quickly.
This year my one Christmas wish is for the season to take its time….to linger about while we enjoy and fully embrace the season and everything we love about it. I want more time to cuddle with our children while we are watching our favorite Christmas shows on TV. To bake all those beloved cookies that we make at Christmas…to pretend I did not see the little ones sneak a cookie or two off the cooling racks. More time to enjoy, too appreciate the sparkle that shines in our children’s eyes when they see the house all decorated and fully lit up, on Christmas Eve when they track Santa NORAD and then put out Santa’s milk and cookies, on Christmas morning when they see all those presents that seemed to magically appear under the tree that were not there the night before.
So Father Christmas….this season please take your time so we may fully enjoy what the season is truly about and to be thankful for all the blessings we have in our lives! Merry Christmas Everyone!

It is amazing.. the power of emotion.. the power of connection.. the power of technology.. the power of friendship...the spirit of Christmas...here.. in a small way.. we , the believers in all of these things, unite in a common desire to hold on to a spirit that envelops people for a few weeks each year- we however, celebrate all year.. especially in friendships which amazingly enough.. stretches across the world.. nowhere else can you find such caring and friendly people.. yet through the power of technology.. and connection.. we remain.. all year long as... most importantly, friends....

and so it has come to this.....

Four days.... until the season...

CONTINUITY

In our ever more rapidly changing world, we strive to find an anchor - something that stays the same.
Like a rock to hold onto as the current washes us downstream to an uncertain future.

Let's face it. The world is really changing too fast.
There have been more physical, technological and cultural changes in the past 100 years than in all of man's history up to that time.

Is it any wonder that those few things that do not change are so precious to us?
Christmas.
Yes, it has evolved somewhat over our lifetimes, but far less than most institutions.
It is something dependable. Always there. And always the same time every year.

We are lucky and insightful here at My Merry Christmas.
I feel our group truly sees the value of Christmas and seeks to hold it dear all year long.
No, we are not crazy. We are smart and see the importance of Christmas and the Christmas Season.

Thanks for being here this year, everyone, to hang on together to the rock that is Christmas.

........And so we arrive at Day 3 before Christmas Season 2009.

Last day until the season:

I was just thinking about what we remember, about what makes us like or even love certain things. For example, I have no idea why I absolutely LOVE anything to do with Christmas. I mean, I could honestly listen to Christmas music 24-7 and never tire of it. Why is that?? And I know I am not alone. In fact, there are so MANY people, women AND men, who are so in tune with Christmas that they frequent this very website that counts down the days until Christmas! Can you imagine? Tonight I was speaking with several friends. I told them that I really want to complete my (Christmas) scrapbooking stuff before I die. I know, I know—we know not the day nor the hour—but I want to leave behind my legacy of my love of ALL things Christmas.

When I speak with my third graders year after year, I realize what a happy childhood I had, how lucky I was. I felt so loved as a child. My parents managed a boat landing so we lived at the river year round in the South. We had four distinct seasons—cool and cleansing spring; hot and humid summer that equated with swimming everyday (!!!); fall, beautiful fall and piles of leaves that invited diving (as opposed to summer diving!); and winter—snow days and nights that were glorious. Just as if it were yesterday, I remember the crickets and the lightning bugs, the scent of honeysuckle, the ripple of the waves as boats passed the pier, the piles and crunch of dry leaves, the first fat flakes of winter and the bitter winds, and the first blossoms of dogwoods and honeysuckle! And the Christmas celebrations were homey and loud with so many cousins and aunts and uncles.

Going back past the years that have hurried by, my memories crowd around me and make me remember about something I read, that the things that move us are the things that reflect what we already believe: That one equals many. That an individual is a part of the greater whole. That together we can do great things. That each of us, in some way, wishes to be part of something greater, something grander, than simply ourselves. I believe that is what we have here at My Merry Christmas. My, how things actually become the circle of life!

And thus, we have come full circle since last year, and so it is now…the beginning of the new Christmas season.

Were Here!!!

I can't believe I missed the whole thing this year. Thankfully, my computer problems while visiting MMC forums seem to be fine now. What a relief!

Loved reading all of your posts. Just spent an hour going back to catch up.

Belated welcome of the Season to y'all! :tree:

:hello: I found myself relating to so much of what everyone said in their countdown to the season posts. Thanks so much for leading us all into the season with your festive spirited posts. :tree:

I’m always looking to experience Christmas as a child again. I know I can never really go back, except through memories, to those glorious times with family, neighbours, relatives, pets, etc. Times when I thought the walls would burst open from all the merriment. That could be part of my disappointment when Christmas rolls around. I wake up on Christmas morning expecting to be back in my bedroom with the hand-painted 100-Acre Wood wall in my bedroom and I'm seven again. Yet, I find at times I feel that special joy when I see children in a line-up waiting to share their secret wish with Santa, beautifully adorned Christmas trees, the smell of Scotch Tape as I wrap up special surprises or putting little notes into Christmas cards or Church Bells ringing on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day calling across the city "come, let us adore Him".

I love Christmas. Visiting here and sharing the best of Christmas during the year in some ways makes me feel like I'm seven again. The Christmas spirit shines through posts and brings me back to that magical time in my life.

Festive Regards,
Auntie Mistletoe.

Hey, Crown give that camel a nuzzle for me. Just watch out for his drool.

Merry Christmas from London, everyone!

Woke up to a wonderful cold Sunday and was surprised by my girlfriend who had snuck up and made fresh coffee and blueberry pancakes. Perfect start to the day!

Need to work a little but doing this on my laptop now on my sofa in front of the telly where one channel here is showing nothing but Christmas films every weekend in November and come December - nothing but Christmas films 24/7! Yay!

Good Sunday morning, my Christmas friends!

My cell phone was ringing at 7 AM. Wrong number. :-? Oh, get up and put on a pot of coffee.

I had to work all day yesterday, travelling around for my side business, but I had two Christmas music CDs in the truck, so it was great!

We had our fundraiser last light to help pay for our town's Christmas banners. It went wonderfully! We had about 125 people stop to eat pancakes & sausage, we had a raffle, silent auction and karaoke...it was a blast!

Now I gotta get my crew up for church. I'll talk with you guys later!cheesy
