good night my friends

Crown,

Will you be breaking out the Percy Faith or Glenn Miller Albums first???

Binger...I have been offered the job of back-up dancer on the new Taylor Swift tour...shall I take it?

Hmmm....
Glenn Miller, I should think.
Makes a nice transition from my usual big band music.

On another note, Kim and I are going to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra this evening. It's going to be a fine show. We're both quite excited. Hopefully they don't play a whole lot from their new album since it's not as Christmassy as everything else. Still, it will be a great spectacle. It will be both our first times, too, so we'll definitely remember this experience! Subsequently, it will also be the "first" time I listen to Christmas music this year. I have sneaked only about three or four songs in there the past two months, but this will be my first lengthly experience. The classic and modern music will begin on Friday!

You two are going to have so much fun! They will be playing some non-Christmassy music during the second half, but it's still an amazing show!!

Is there a set time when we are supposed to post our "day" to the season? Mine is tomorrow, but I have it ready now.

Yeah Britt...can't wait!!!

This time tomorrow night will be one fun time...looking very forward to it!

Last day until the season:

I was just thinking about what we remember, about what makes us like or even love certain things. For example, I have no idea why I absolutely LOVE anything to do with Christmas. I mean, I could honestly listen to Christmas music 24-7 and never tire of it. Why is that?? And I know I am not alone. In fact, there are so MANY people, women AND men, who are so in tune with Christmas that they frequent this very website that counts down the days until Christmas! Can you imagine? Tonight I was speaking with several friends. I told them that I really want to complete my (Christmas) scrapbooking stuff before I die. I know, I know—we know not the day nor the hour—but I want to leave behind my legacy of my love of ALL things Christmas.

When I speak with my third graders year after year, I realize what a happy childhood I had, how lucky I was. I felt so loved as a child. My parents managed a boat landing so we lived at the river year round in the South. We had four distinct seasons—cool and cleansing spring; hot and humid summer that equated with swimming everyday (!!!); fall, beautiful fall and piles of leaves that invited diving (as opposed to summer diving!); and winter—snow days and nights that were glorious. Just as if it were yesterday, I remember the crickets and the lightning bugs, the scent of honeysuckle, the ripple of the waves as boats passed the pier, the piles and crunch of dry leaves, the first fat flakes of winter and the bitter winds, and the first blossoms of dogwoods and honeysuckle! And the Christmas celebrations were homey and loud with so many cousins and aunts and uncles.

Going back past the years that have hurried by, my memories crowd around me and make me remember about something I read, that the things that move us are the things that reflect what we already believe: That one equals many. That an individual is a part of the greater whole. That together we can do great things. That each of us, in some way, wishes to be part of something greater, something grander, than simply ourselves. I believe that is what we have here at My Merry Christmas. My, how things actually become the circle of life!

And thus, we have come full circle since last year, and so it is now…the beginning of the new Christmas season.

42 days now...I'm sooo Excited as my family are clubbing together to get me an Apple Mac Mini as a new computer. I love Apple computers!

But Christmas isn't just about the gifts, It's that one time of the year the family gets together and has fun and eats good food.

:treeguy:

We have the indoor decs up already and are moving onto the outdoor ones when the weather breaks, we have a few days of rain coming our way :(

Can you believe it? Tomorrow starts the xmas season... Today they are turning on the xmas lights in Plymouth... next wednesday ill be going to the turn of Truros lights (ill be sure to take pictures) and wednesday the 25th will be the first late night shopping when the reindeer go through the streets of Truro.. Amazing!!

I can't believe that in just two weeks will be Thanksgiving! I am getting so excited!

I can't believe it's so close! I feel like I have plenty of time to be ready for a belly full of turkey, but it's only 2 weeks away! Where did all that time go? Wasn't it just Halloween? cheesy

Yes !!

Two weeks to a Thursday full of football and 6 weeks to Xmas Eve !!

Wow!!

Morning everyone! I have a busy busy day ahead of me, but I'll try to pop my head in again at some time to say hi.

And in case I'm so busy that I zonk out before the real fun starts, have a great time counting down to the season tonight!!!

Good Morning!!!!!

Well, what can I add?
Seawaters has said it all with a fantastic final special-day post that really brings it all together - how we all feel about the Christmas Season which starts tomorrow.

Um.....Crown....did you say TOMORROW??
Why yes. I did:
Days to the Season: 1
Days to Christmas Day: 43.
Wow, friends! A whole year down to one final day.
All together now: HAS IT BEEN WORTH THE WAIT??

The rain continues to come down with the weather service saying 100% chance for today. Seventy percent chance for tomorrow (oh well!).
However, by Saturday (the first weekend of Christmas Season 2009!) it is suppose to clear up for an excellent weekend.

How will you mark the begining of the Season, Folks?
For me, I begin listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies and do so exclusively from then on through Christmas Day.
(I save it all year so the season will be special)
And now, I had better start unpacking those LP's, cassette tapes, CD's, video tapes and DVD's and make a watching and listening plan!

AND - after several years of work, I have won 2 converts! Both of my nieces now regard the Christmas Season as begining on Nov 13!!

OK, folks!
I hope as many of you as possible can be here this evening as we count down the final minutes to the Season.
Until then, have a Thrilling Thursday, Everyone!!

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

I just poured a cup of fresh-ground columbian coffee and it is SUPER! I spent yesterday evening setting up for our town's Christmas decorations fund raiser. It's this Saturday, and should be a blast!

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy
