Christmas Countdown - 2010

This year is flying by! Although I love that Christmas is quickly approaching, I'm just amazed at how quick the time has gone since the last one.

Today is going to be a LAZY day. I don't go back to work until Wednesday, so I will do some work tomorrow preparing for the next few days. But today, NOTHING!!!

I MISS YOU ALL!

We just returned from our train trip to Chicago. We were on the train last night coming home and it was really nice laying in our bed in the bedroom on the train watching fireworks as we passed by each town. Last night was the best sleep I have had on this vacation with the rocking of the train and the distant sound of the train horn. Then at 6:00 am I wake up to a lady in the hallway talking real loud to someone saying, "I didn't sleep at all last night." I jumped up out of a dead sleep and wanting to say, "thanks for waking me up!" Lol! I know she didn't mean to wake me up though. I ran into her later and she seemed like a nice lady. It was her first train trip and I am sure she didn't give it a thought that others may be sleeping. We had a fantastic time and got to go up the Willis (Sears) Tower. We met a nice couple in the dining car this morning at breakfast and somehow got in a conversation with the wife about Christmas. She said she LOVES Christmas. Great company! cheesy

It will take me awhile to catch up on all the threads. I have 593 new unread post!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July and welcome back to those who have returned on their trips.
 
Well I got energetic this afternoon and went and bought front brakes for my truck. Then I went out to my aunts house and put them on. I don't know what I was thinking. It was way to hot outside to be doing them today. They weren't even squeaking yet. Now I have a headache from the heat. I finally heard from my boss about an hour ago. She apoligized for missing the call this morning and told me she was going to have it wednesday morning instead. So at least I can sleep in tomorrow. I hope everyone is enjoying their monday!!!!
 
I took a much needed nap today and feel a lot better. I am doing nothing but relaxing for the rest of the day. Time to get ready for a busy week ahead!
 
Just to add to what my wife said about our trip to Chicago. Well it was my first train trip that I can remember (my mom says that we went on a school trip to New York on a train, but I don't remember that at all) The first night for me wasn't that great as far as sleep goes, I guess sleeping on a train takes getting used to. We did meet quite a few very nice people on the train. Chicago was pretty cool, unfortunately our train was a bit late getting there, so we couldn't do everything we wanted to do, but overall it was a very enjoyable trip. Now it's back to the grind, back to work tomorrow.:-?

WOW!! Was it hot today 99 degrees, it is going to be hotter tomorrow with a lot more humidity. We were at the parade and walking the booths for more than 3 hours in the heat, but went home to the AC that was the best part of the day right there. Driving into Boston to pick up my sister tomorrow morning will be on the road for close to 4 hours round trip. It will be nice to see her it has been nearly a year since we saw her last.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great start of the week.

Hard to imagine a white Christmas in the middle of a heat wave! :snowball:
34c (94f) again today with a humidex making it feel like 45c (113f). I have to work this morning in a place where there is no air conditioner, so going in early and hoping to get done by lunch time.

Coming here helps to keep me cool!

That is the kind of temperatures we have here and higher than that all summer but I cannot imagine having that there! Keep cool!
 
I feel so wiped out from our trip we had that I took a 2 hour nap yesterday then slept almost 10 hours last night. I could have slept longer but my dogs decided I need to get up. cheesy One of them just wanted me to get up and play and the other needed to go outside. I think I could have slept longer but I do need to wake up anyway and get ready for the grandkids to come over.

One of my dogs gets so sad when I am gone that he refuses to eat. He finally gave in on the 3rd day we were gone and ate. I feel sad when he does that but he is happy now that I am home!

Good morning, friends! Gonna be another blistering day here, but I am on my last day of vacation so I can dodge it. I have to get out there sometime and do some yardwork because my flowers are thristy so I will make sure I do that later.

Yes, the heat has returned here with a vengence.
The predicted high for today is 99.
We are also bone dry. You know - the kind of dryness where the grass seems to crunch under your feet.
Rain is predicted for late in the week and we need it.
Currently, we stand at 74 degrees under sunny skies with a light breeze.

OK, on with our count:
Days to the Season: 130
Days to Christmas Day: 172
Hey, Hey Hey! The 2/3 Season Milestone arrives one week from tomorrow.
We are so moving, guys!

Hi all! I've been MIA the past week.. we're still staying at my sister's and her computer had to be repaired. Ours is in storage so I was computerless! ACK!

We are roasting over here.. 100 degrees today!!!! And my son and I both have nasty colds - what luck! 7 weeks before my due date and in the worst heat wave in 10 years, lol!

Anyway, I've been thinking about you all often... Hallmark is putting out their ornaments this weekend and I am so excited!!!! And we moved settlement up so we move back into our own house for the first time in 4 months very soon, woo hoo!!!!
