Thanks! I have to drive across the city to get home tonight. So it should be interesting. I'm not afraid to drive in this, its OTHERS I'm afraid of. Once the snow hits everyone drives like a MANIAC! Sheesh!

Update - snow is continuing into tomorrow and the next day. Probably wont go into work tomorrow because there is so much. 2 ft+ and counting.
I guess this means I will not be going to the truck driving school over on Exeter Road again tomorrow.
I am supposed to do my road test on the 14th and really need to practice some more. Will have to see if they can move that date up a few days to make up for this lost time.

Keep warm!

Whitney,
I LOVE parents who are involved with their kids. But when I was MORE THAN CORDIAL to the parent and she tells the principal that I was not respectfull--Man that makes me mad. I wish more parents were actually concerned about their kids. I love to have the kid at the conference to tell the parent the truth about what goes on in the classroom!!! I LOVE support from parents, and I totally acknowledge that! Normally, I do not have problems with kids' parents who behave, only those who are a pain in the patutie!!! Or is that pa-too-tie??

I am so paranoid of being one of "those parents"; you know the ones--you see them coming and your eyes roll back in your head! I don't want to tell anyone how to do their job, I just want to know what's going on with my child's education and how I can help. I've been on every field trip this year (3 so far), helped with the Fall Carnival, and came to the Halloween party. There has only been one PTO meeting and I was one of the only parents there. DH & I scheduled a Parent-Teacher Conference even though the teacher didn't think we needed one; we just wanted to get to talk to her and see if there was anything we could do to help her. We told her we weren't there to fuss & complain, just to find out how we could support her!

Christmas is a-comin' people! I just need to finish up FIL's gift and then I'm done, unless I can find a couple shirts and/or belts for DH. He's desparate for new clothes and won't buy them for himself!

DD still asks every day if it's Christmas Eve yet! She is ready to make those cookies that are in the fridge---precut---all we have to do is bake & decorate.

I cannot imagine the scenario like yours from a TRUE teacher! Heaven forbid! I LOVE communication from parents, and I tell them they can drop by ANYTIME!! Did this one parent?? NO! Education is a combined effort. Not one single person can do it all!!! Please, continue to be involved! THANK YOU!!

I was the same exact parent you are when my kids were younger. Helping and supporting the teacher is a good thing! I always made a phone call here and there just to chat with the teacher and see if there is anything I can do to help. Every teacher appreciated my help.

One year, however, I had a teacher that seemed annoyed that I would call. My son could be quite a handful and I really can't help out if she refused to communicate with me! I knew it was not my problem in this case because she got a flood of complaints and she finally straightened up half way through the year. I am in no way pesky, just want to help.

This teacher was downright mean too. My son has asthma and she refused to send him to the clinic one day when he was coughing so much that he threw up on his desk. She made him clean it up and sit back down instead of sending him to the clinic. Ugh! I don't want to get started on that, I have many stories! My experience with all the other teachers were far more pleasant and I still run into them from time to time when I am out in public. It's a joy to see them. I saw that one mean teacher one day at Walmart a few months ago and had no desire to speak with her.

Anyway, my son is 20 now and in college and my daughter is 24 and graduated college already.

To all who have responded about my parent interaction--thank you! How sad that today, with the child in another room, our class was MARVELOUS!! There were no rolling of the eyes, no avoidence of the teacher, no tattling. Some of my kiddos made comments about how great our class was today. I can only imagine the message that was given to the student who was removed! Thanks for listening!

I know everyone has been watching some Christmas movies and I watched a movie called Secret Santa yesterday starring Jennie Garth. Did not expect much but this was a very good movie. I definitely recommend it.

We went to see St. Nikolaus...both St. Nikolaus in the old bishop costume was there plus Weihnachtsmann in the traditional red costume was there....all the children got a little bag filled with Kandice

good to hear you had a great Saint Nicholas Day, I didn't realise it was celebrated in Germany as well...

Hope you are still safe! :) I know what you mean, we went out in the snow, and almost every one was driving slow behind each other, but every once in a while some stupid person came flying by over the third lane, even though there was no salt on the third lane... Furthermore, I think the Dutch government was pretty well prepared this winter, there was plenty of salting and sweeping cars.... maybe because we are having more and more snow lately (while when I was growing up, there was winters without snow... that never seem to happen anymore...)

Hope every one is well!

Thanks for the recommendation. I am always on the lookout for good Christmas movies. I especially love watching them in the summer when it is SOOOO hot here in northern California.
