Good morning everyone! The sun finally came out today, and it's a beautiful, warmer 39 degrees. It almost felt like spring this morning!

Good morning, Christmas friends. It is a little chilly this morning in northern California. I know, though, that it will heat up to be T-shirt weather by this afternoon; so I am wearing a long-sleeve T-Shirt! I wore a sweatshirt yesterday and about roasted. I hope all of y'all have a great day. Especially those who get to stay home because of a snow day!

Cold and snow moving back in here today. Single digits temps with one to maybe eight inches of snow depending I guess on which side of the street you are standing on at this time. I guess later they will give us a better clue on four inches total or eight or who knows. How they figure it out as well sometimes blows me away.

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

Yesterday started good, but ended badly. We have a pretty close office here at work. Gail, the office manager, has two sons, 28 & 32. The youngest son had recently bought a new Camaro, souped up with 400hp, stick shift, etc). He was killed at 10 am yesterday morning after he missed at curve at 100+ MPH. I spent most of the afternoon and evening at his mom & dad's house. Poor Gail was so distraught. I can't imagine how they feel. It breaks my heart.

It's hard to concentrate here at work today. I'm sure her family would appreciate any prayers & good thought you can send their way today.

I hope you all have a great day!
I am so sorry for their loss. It just breaks my heart to hear a parent losing a child. My prayers go out to their family and to you as well. I know this must be very hard on you to see this happen to a friend of yours.

Ohhh I was a BIG Guns N Roses fan when iw as a teenager.. Still like them today sooo needless to day I was NOT impressed with with her singing it last night. Sorry no one can sing that song like Axl but did think Slash did great.

I am not a big Guns n Roses fan but did like a few of their songs. I saw them in concert over 20 years ago when they opened up for Alice Cooper. My friend was and still is an Alice Cooper fan. I just went along to the concert for something to do. cheesy

I say it is time to bring in some country acts for the halftime show.

I don't recall ever seeing a Country artist at half time or have they? I am not much into country but it would be only fair to have one sometime. Now if they could bring back Patsy Cline I would be very happy! Isn't it strange for someone like me not to be into country music but LOVE the queen of country, Ms. Patsy Cline?!

My favorite half time show was Paul McCartney!
how about Donny and Marie?

That would be entertaining!

I am struggling to catch up but have to run again. The grandbaby is asleep but the older one needs me. I will be back when I can! cheesy

They still exchange cards in grade schools anymore like we use to years ago. Or has some hateful being stopped that as well?

DD is in kindergarten. They sent home a form so that parents/guardians could by a stuffed animal, rose, or balloon and have it delivered to the child at school. DD will get a Pillow Pet at home & a rose a dinner, so we're sending a balloon to her at school. I have all of the Valentine cards put up that I got on clearance a couple of years ago, but nothing has been sent home yet about a party. I'd say they'll have one, since they had Halloween & Christmas parties. We probably won't get the note until Friday afternoon for the party on Monday afternoon.:-? She always exchanged Valentine's in daycare.

We did our grocery shopping today and the town of Chico was all decked out for a Packers win. Aaron Rodgers is from there, so lots of stores had his picture up on easels.

I thought about you last night when they mentioned that he was from Chico!

I'm back to listening to Christmas music on my way to work. I held out until February 1, then back to it.

I always have to be planning something, so now I'm working on our June vacation & DD's June birthday. I still need to get Easter basket gifts & I have an idea. Just need to find the items.

We have five family birthdays in March: my grandmother, 3 nieces, & 1 nephew. I'm taking 3 of them shopping & out to eat. The little one, I've bought her gift. Now to get something for my grandmother, & that's the hard one. I got a Christmas gift for her for 2011 after Christmas 2010, but I'm stumped on a birthday gift. She'll be 87 & doesn't have room or need for "stuff", so I'm trying to think of something practical. In the past I've given her Wal-Mart gift certificates so she can buy her groceries with it. She eats like a bird, so taking her out to eat is hard too. Any ideas?

Have a good day & think Christmassy thoughts!

Sounds as with my Grandmother as well. She ate very little and took an hour and a half to do so. Our last outing together I took her to one of the nicer malls in KC. She was saying how she never got out anymore and just couldn't do a lot of walking anymore. I had no clue what to get her either her last few years it was hard to come up with things. So anyway I got a wheelchair and pushed her around to the stores and then she could get up and snoop around a bit if she wanted to. She had a blast and we spendt a whole afternoon doing it. I ended up getting her that day this little figurine she saw in the Disney store. Her face lit up when she saw it and the way she was rolling it around in her hands looking at was what settled it for me. But she said no cost way to much. So I said I needed a restroom break got wife to go on with her. I ran back got it, ran to car to hide it, and ran back inside. I gave it to her later when she got back home and she cried she was so happy to see it again. When she had to go to the nursing home in the end it sat on her nightstand the whole time she was there. In fact she still has it with her today.

I caught a few of the ads during the Superbowl, even though I don't really care about football.

Some cool looking movies coming this summer!
Super 8
Transformers 3
Cowboys and Aliens (sounds crazy, but Steven Spielberg is doing it)
Thor
Captain America

Nice!cheesy

.....I heard a clip of it on the radio this morning. I would hope that anyone who's going to sing the National Anthem in public would have enough respect for the U.S.A. to learn the words and music, but some popular music figures don't feel the same way. If you DO know the words and the music, this is not a proper song to improvise on.....
I feel exactly the same way you do, Merry.

In years gone by, it was the SONG and what it meant that was important.
Now, it's the singer.

Instead of "Listen to what I'm singing", it's "The song doesn't mater - look at me and what I can do with my voice!!"

A new Fast & Furious as well called Fast5. Yes seems like some different stuff coming out no doubt. I agree with you the Cowboys & Aliens seems strange.

Good Monday afternoon! December & weekends...both go way too fast!!!! Hope everyone enjoyed the superbowl - regardless of the outcome, it was a good game to watch! I wasn't really rooting for or against either team, so it ended ok for me! Ha ha! But I'm having a hard time staying awake today!!! Monday...

Make it a great day! :)

You're a fine grandson, Dave!

I agree 100%. I always thought they should have military people sing it, then you know it will be sung with respect and reverance. Professional singers just think it is a time to showcase their talent and sell albums. I actually missed this one, so I didn't see it live but I read about it on the internet. Of course the absolute worse was what Rosanne did that one time several years ago, not that I ever really liked her, but I lost all respect for her after that.
That Roseanne spectacle was deplorable.

Agree, it seems like few other than military members know the proper way to present the anthem these days.
Whenever someone else sings it, I always have my finger poised over the mute button just in case. And I usually wind up pressing it.

Oh Brad. I am so deeply sorry for their loss as well as yours. I have already said prayers and will continue to do so. What an awful thing to happen.
