I don't know how I forgot to mention this but one year when Guns n Roses came in town I went to a club and the band was there, all but Axle Rose himself. Slash was wasted and smashed right into me. He said, "scuse me"! and started laughing. He almost fell over. I didn't realize it was him at first until I saw the obvious hat and hair! They joined in with the local band that was playing and performed, Welcome to the Jungle.
That's funny! Our band opened for (if you rememeber them) Molly Hatchet one time, and Danny Joe Brown was so drunk, he jumped off the stage thinking someone was dancing with his wife. He head-butted our drummer by accident and nearly knocked him out! He had a big goose-egg in the middle of his forehead for a week. LOL! Funny stuff! cheesy

I have mentioned in the past that I have been ill off an on for years. I made drastic changes in my eating to improve my overall health. The old way I ate made me so ill that I could hardly eat and was underweight. Going vegetarian (2 years ago), staying away from processed foods and as of a few months ago giving up caffeine and sugar has improved my health big time and now I am finally at a normal weight and feeling much better. Taking the first step in going veggie corrected all the chronic stomach problems I had. I would never push my eating habits on anyone but it was what I had to do to feel better. I am actually jealous of those who can eat the things I gave up and feel great everyday. My mother who is almost 70 can do just that, feel fine and very athletic. It doesn't work for me.

The purpose of all this that I mentioned is now, as of yesterday, I am going to start training to run. I think I am ready for it. I wanted to post somewhere to hold myself accountable to make sure I follow through with it. My brother runs all the time and currently training for a half marathon. (around 13 miles). I am not ready for that long of a run!

I want to enter a 3k or 5k run. He told me that if I train for a shorter run that he will run along with me for moral support. That made me so happy that he offered that. My pace will be so much slower than his and he usually places 1st and 2nd in his age category but willing to go my pace to see me through it. I love my big brother! I tell him all the time he is my favorite brother. By the way, he is my only brother! cheesy

I have been wanting to do this for years but haven't had the strength. Please keep me in thoughts in prayer that I can do this. cheesy
Good for you! I'm too much of a carnivore to really consider going veggie, but I'm glad it's working for you!

Yes I remember them. A friend of mine met them as well. That's a funny story!!!

I don't miss meat at all. In the past I would go a couple of days at a time without eating any before I ever thought of giving it up altogether so no biggie for me. But, I found out 5 years ago that I am allergic to dairy, wheat and gluten. I LOVE DAIRY!!! That was a VERY HARD thing to give up! There are a lot of substitutes out there, soy, almond, coconut milk and many other things but the real thing taste the best to me. Wheat and gluten is very hard to stay away from since it is in more stuff than I ever realized. I can't have it though. :-? I am a real pain if I go to a social function and have to turn down most the food offered. I am not a "food snob" it's just that I can't eat a lot of stuff. I have never ever been a picky eater, even as a child I would try anything. Now it looks like I am picky! I am not picky, my system is "picky"!!! If I give in and have a small portion of what I am not allowed to eat I end up getting sick. Not fun!

On the upside, I have tried so many new foods that are amazing so I am not missing out. It's just hard to go places and a lot of restaurants. Living in Dallas does have it's advantages. They have many veggie restaurants with dairy, wheat/gluten free menus.

Good morning,

It is still snowing here, BIG flakes maybe 3 inches accumulation schools were delayed 2 hours this morning. I had to get JP ready and out and entertain them for a little longer due to the delay. After he left I made some Snickerdoodles, I have been wanting those for awhile. I won a DVD on Ebay last week of nothing but 2 hours of Christmas music videos, I watched some of it this morning, I love it. It has Where Are You Christmas from Faith Hill. Frosty the Snowman by Leon Redbone, etc... Now I don't have to look them up on Youtube or wait until Christmas day on VH1 Classic, I will have to try to find the second DVD next.

Have a great day. :rudolph:

Same here, as my brother-in-law says: "Vegetables are what meat eats." cheesy
Ha ha! My co-worker teases me about that. He brings food up to work every Sunday. He had brought some hamburgers up there and told me they are vegetarian hamburgers. I said, "no they are not"! He said, "yes, cows are vegetarians"! I guess he had a point there. cheesy

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

The rain has moved out again, at least for a little while. I shouldn't complain about the rain. We need all we can get. But a little sunshine now and then helps put things in a better perspective.

I had a city council meeting last night, uneventful, as usual. That's another good thing about small towns. As long as you try to get along with everyone, there isn't much controversy.

I think our plant is going to be closed tomorrow for Gail's sons' funeral. Most of the guys expressed a desire to attend, so the boss decided to close it down for a day. Nice!

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy
Sounds like you have a good boss. We are praying for Gail's family.

Got a little more snow last night. We parked at the bottom of the mountain. Hopefully we will be able to drive up to the house this evening. More snow coming Wed night.

Without a doubt, you CAN do it !!! Good for you on adopting new habits for your health. I am glad you feel better !! xo

I remember Molly Hatchet well !!! It is AMAZING to me what alcohol does to people as far as attitude and actions. Good Grief !!

I have not eaten meat for 21 years and I agree. I do not miss meat at all. In fact if I happen to get something that has the slighest bit of lard or meat products in it, I get very, very ill. I have nothing against folks who like meat, I just couldn't eat it any longer....

Good afternoon, Christmas Family !!

I hope all are doing well. I made it through my very first midnight shift !! My furchildren were all so worried because it was such a drastic change for them. Clancy, my 94 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback, made sure to get in with me this morning and lay with her head on my feet the whole time I was resting. Wishbone, my 14 year old Min Pin/Dachshund (spelling ?) mix also made sure to get in with me. Even Smokey, my Siamese kitty, came in at around 3 a.m. while I was working and looked at me as if to say "what are you doing ?" "You are supposed to be sleeping with us !!"

I hope they can get into the swing of this huge change.

Good luck on your training to run Christmas A Holic !!!

Brad, I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am once again for Gail's and your loss.

Take care Christmas family !! xo

I caught a few of the ads during the Superbowl, even though I don't really care about football.

Some cool looking movies coming this summer!
Super 8
Transformers 3
Cowboys and Aliens (sounds crazy, but Steven Spielberg is doing it)
Thor
Captain America

Nice!cheesy

Yep, DH told me he would be living in the movie theater this summer!

Last night DD brought home her class list for the Valentine's Day party, so we started putting names on the cards. One step closer to Christmas!

I am glad to hear your first night went well, the furchildren will get use to it quickly.

I got a Christmas card in the mail today!!!

What a wonderful surprise. It is from a dear friend I have lost track of the last few years. (good thing one of us stayed put!)
I am going to fire off a letter to her as soon as possible. cheesy

Min Pin/Dachshund (spelling ?)

You officially got it right (proofreader speaking)!

I sure hope the new job keeps going well. Please keep us posted. The furkiddies will just have to get used to the new hours! They'll wait for you.

Superdave, Gallbulldog and any other runners out there, how many miles can or could run?

I never was a distance person or training for marathons and never really measured what I did. I'd just take off down the street and go many different ways and ran till I felt fullfilled. I do it as a rule 2x maybe 3x a week. Back when I had a really stressful life it was my way to relax so I could sleep. I'm going to guess 3 to around 7 miles as a rule like I said I varied my route and would run for about 30 - 50 minutes I timed a few times at track had about an avg 8.50 minute mile. I always tried to walk about a half mile or some where in that area home so as to cool down myself and muscles.

I love both groups very well. I hate to think I couldn't have my ribeyes. But sometimes dinner is corn on the cob and tomatoes from the garden and thats it. For that manner many a night of just watermelon or cantalope. I'm not a fast food person at all, hate the stuff. And as a rule it will upset my stomach. I do very little box food I'm a make it myself kind of person. I don't need hamburger helper to make a cheessy mac or something like that. And when Taco Bell says thats beef I have no idea what kind of cows they are buying. Hate to see what a ribeye from one of them looks like.

:snowball:

Morning all.
I'm feeling better but still sick. Here I am at work though. I have already missed 3 days without pay. Cant miss anymore. Hope everyone else is ok! William is at daycare jumping around so he is feeling better. I'm having hot and cold flashes at work and on and off sick to my stomach. Well I have to get better, don't I? LOL Back to work I go!
