I just finished reading Jana's thread on her baby being due on Christmas Eve..and it has me all excited to share with you guys that I am going to be a first time dad around the holidays too..January 3rd to be exact!! It was not exactly planned but is a great great surprise!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Good morning!

I, too, am having a hard time getting up and at it this morning. Bo is awake so maybe I'll take him for a walk - will do me a world of good, I know! I just need to convince him he wants to go outside :)

Today I have to work - I will spend a lot of time trying to identify some glass. I had no luck with it yesterday, so maybe I will find something to help me out today.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!

I just realized tomorrow is my girlfriends 23rd birthday. whew!! glad I remembered it. Now I have to think about something to get her besides flowers. We are moving on into mid may before you know it the summer months will be here.

Good, Fresh, New Week Morning, Friends!
(Hmmm..... Ever hear of a stale new week?)

Regardless, let's head straight away to the count:
Days to the Season: 188
Days to Christmas Day: 230
And yes, we are now under a week off from Milestone #8, the HALF WAY MARK to Christmas Season 2011.
Let that sink in a moment -- half! (And that's the same as 50 percent, Yogi!)

Beautifully calm and sunny here in the capital city at this hour where the thermometer reads just under 55 degrees as I type this.
Rain possible tonight and tomorrow.

I hope and trust your week has started well and that each and every one of you has a Marvelous Monday!

Speaking of dogs with newborn babies....

My daughter was living with me when she had our first grandbaby. I have 2 chihuahuas and my female chihuahua, Meca, motherly instincts kicked in. It was really wild to watch but she would actually lay on my daughters stomach all the time before she got too big. Meca still tried to lay near it as she started showing more. It's like she knew there was a baby there because she never tried to lay on her stomach before. Then when the baby arrived she actually was trying to take care of him! We really had to watch her. We knew she wasn't try to hurt the baby but it wasn't a good idea to have a dog all over my grandson.

Gabulldawg, I am sure your dogs will become protective of the baby instead of jealous because the dogs know you still love them. (my grandson told me to put this elf on here, lol)

Thanks each and everyone of you guys for the congrats you gave me! I am very excited but way nervous at the same time. If I am this nervous now I can't imagine how I will be in 8 months.

You know what else is exciting, Gabulldawg???

You will not suffer after Christmas blues. You have a baby to look forward to in the New Year!!! Awesome!!!!!!

This is sooo true! My first was due February 7 (didn't come to February 18!!) but I had/have something to look forward to following Christmas now! It's great!

Good morning, Christmas friends. It is chilly and sunny with a slight breeze here in northern California. All the talk about babies makes me want to have one!! But I will leave that to y'all!!! CAH, I loved the little elf and the fact that your grandson wanted you to put it in your post, and I loved the story about Meca--so, so sweet. My first child was born on December 22, and we came home from the hospital on December 24--no time for any blues, Christmas or postpartum!
I hope everyone has a great day. We have four more weeks of school and this is our last week of testing! Hooray!

my second daughter was due on January 12, so I too looked forward to an after Christmas perk. Only she surprised us and came on December 14! I was not ready, as I just wanted to enjoy Christmas before getting ready for another little one to join the family. Guess she really wanted to join in the fun!

Is she the one that gave you a hard time about listening to Christmas music the other day? If so, remind her she really wanted to be here in time to join in on the festivities!

Good morning! What a beautiful Ohio day...finally! :)

CONGRATULATIONS gabulldawg! What great news! I love that thought of no after Christmas blues for you! Awesome!

I hope you all had a great Mothers Day & a great weekend! Ours went by in a flash. Planted some flowers Friday night. Saturday took my parents & my bil's Mom to Bowling Green to watch my niece graduate from college. She had to give a speech at graduation, so that was really cool. On the way home we stopped in Findlay to visit with my brother & family as my nephew & his girlfriend both graduated on Saturday w/ doctors degrees (Physical Therapist) from Findlay. We left at 9 am & got home at 7:30 pm - 3 hours of driving time, 2 hours of sitting in the gym time....was a long (but fun) day! Yesterday we went to my hubby's Moms for lunch, to my nieces for supper to celebrate Mothers Day - then hubby & I rode the bike path after, took the dog for a walk, picked up our convertible from storage (YES!) & got home a little after 10 last night! Needed to come to work to rest. HA! (NOT!)

Make it a great day everybody!!

Hey, ya'll.

I'm sorry, I don't want to be a downer, but I wanted to say a few words about my best friend.

I found this morning that my old labrador, Ben, had passed away during the night last night. He had just turned 15 years old, and he had to walk around slowly, but he was always happy. I only wish I could have been there for him as he left, just to comfort him. I owed him that much.

I feel guilty because I've been so busy, I didn't spend much time with him lately. He was always a good boy and a good friend. He loved to hunt with me, and when he was younger he caught the frisbee a thousand times. He walked with me every step I took outside, and was never mad at me for not having as much time for him.

There was some discussion lately about whether or not pets have souls and go to Heaven. I have no doubts that Ben had a wonderful, beautiful soul, and is at this moment running and jumping and chasing birds. I can't imagine that any pet who has the capacity to love someone as much as Ben obviously loved me, lacked a soul and the ability to shrug off the pains and infirmities of old age and live forever in happiness.

I'll miss my old friend dearly. I have to believe he's now happy and young, and waiting to see me again. You've been a good boy, Big Ben, and I love you.

Oh Brad, I'm so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful dog. I grew up with a yellow lab and she was such a great friend. Losing her was hard but I always thought about her being pain-free and youthful again in heaven.

Sorry to hear about your loss Brad. Your dog knew you loved him though and he is at peace now. I hope you feel better soon!
