Schools will be closed tomorrow. That makes 3 days in a row!

The Packers and Steeler fans are laughing it up about the news coverage of our big "snow/ice storm". I can understand that it's funny to them seeing that this is nothing compared to what they get! They interviewed a few and didn't know what the fuss was about. cheesy

They are now saying it's the coldest weather we have had in 20 years.

I know what can melt the snow....Darlene Love!

Okay I am taking the laptop outside to see if she can melt 3 inches of ice. I'll let you know how it turns out!!!

Well I played her letterman performance from last year and it melted about 1 and a half inches of ice in front of the computer. Maybe I will have to try a few more years to see if I find a hotter one.

How does everyone prepare their groundhog?

I prefer roasted with a good course salt and herb rub.

I sure hope he is right about spring coming early, or else I will try groundhog for the first time. cheesy
stew pot with whole garlic cloves, onions and a touch of salt, slow cooked all day

I have been a little worried about the animals in this weather. Last night I made shelter outside for the stray cats and figured they would stay there. They went in there for about an hour and that's it. They left for the night and showed up this morning and were just fine. I guess they are tougher than I thought they would be.

Then this morning I saw a gecko fall out of a bush and looked like he was dying. I thought maybe he is freezing to death since we never get weather this cold. I brought him inside and put him in a container big enough for him to see if he would "thaw" out and be ok. He didn't move for an hour and I was thinking he must have died because they are very quick little critters. I never see them that still and I couldn't tell if he was breathing so I took him back outside, sat him down and he took off running! He had me fooled I guess and didn't want me to mess with him. I am sure he just wanted to hibernate somewhere.

The animals are just fine but my darn pipes froze up! cheesy

outsiders just don't understand! When I lived in BC for a time they used to make fun of Ontarians when we talked about the high humidity that went with the heat here. (in BC they are blessed with warm weather and no humidity)

smart little guy! Or maybe not...he had a chance at a warm place to wait out the cold with all the food and water her wanted!

Goodnight all :tree:

Well just woke up about half an hour ago still sort of numb from it all. Spendt 16 hrs well little over runnng the cat getting things opened up so people could go where I have no idea.

Sitting in app a cubic square yard space all that time gives one time to reflect on many things. As a rule when I do that it means spending money. The cat has a radio but to hard to hear over the motor that is like 10 inches maybe a foot from your head. So lots of time for the brain to wander all over the place. Been pushing snow for so many years not to sure I couldn't do it in my sleep. Oh well was semi warm remembers years past with no cabs.

Gone be a cold one here tonight as well as many places tonight it looks like. I have no idea how much snow we had depends on where you are standing. This area you can almost see the grass poking through and over here is a six foot drift the size of Texas. I just told my buddy wish I had taken my camera with me, never seem to have that thing when I really want it.

Welp best get to catching up on the posts as I savor a hot bowl of my chicken/veggie/noodle soup I made Monday night. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy.

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

We had family night supper at my inlaws last night. My mother-in-law owns and operates a southern cooking restaurant and catering business, so she's used to cooking in large quantities, which is good since we had about 15 people last night.

Fresh mustard greens, fried chicken, fried quail, baked macaroni & cheese, black-eyed peas, rolls, and pear salad. Whew! That's good stuff, but my favorite is the fresh mustard greens. Yum, yum!

I eat at her restaurant everyday at lunch. It's no wonder I have to watch my weight VERY closely!

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy

Wow I am so jealous right now

You can't shut the power off on all the overhype what will ESPN have to talk about then. cheesy

I hope you have a good nap!

Overhype is right. Thinking about going shopping Sunday. Everyone I know either watching or going to a party so should be nobody in the stores.

sounds like an interesting job and so much appreciated by those of us who want to go who knows where!
Going to be cold here again tonight too at -17c before adding in wind chill.
Keep warm! cheesy

Good evening, Christmas family

Today was a day with lots of emotions. I left my job of 3-1/2 years to start a new one. I begin the training process tomorrow morning at 9:30. I had forgotten something that was in the e-mail account with my old job and when I tried to get back in, which was only like an hour after I was finished today, my access had been deleted. The same with the payroll site. I understand that companies have to be secure but talk about "here's your hat - what's your hurry ?" Geesh !!! For some reason it bothered me that they "got rid of me" that fast. Funny how a company can just "delete" you as though you never existed, as though all the hard work you did didn't even matter.

I am just hoping I am not going to have a problem getting my last 2 checks. I guess I will just have to wait and see. I don't know what to do if they don't pay me. I have auto deposit so I guess I am just going to have to wait.

The storm seems to be over at last here. We are so blessed. There are many, many people in one of the nearby towns who are totally without power still tonight.

Take care Christmas family and stay warm !! xo
