Morning all.
I'm feeling better but still sick. Here I am at work though. I have already missed 3 days without pay. Cant miss anymore. Hope everyone else is ok! William is at daycare jumping around so he is feeling better. I'm having hot and cold flashes at work and on and off sick to my stomach. Well I have to get better, don't I? LOL Back to work I go!

Hope you feel better quickly.

Hii every one :) I am doing very bad at keeping up! I am sorry! I do try, I sometimes read parts of this during my lunch break, but it's on my phone, and I don't know my password so I can't log in, so I just read, and then when I come home I am too tired to react! I just want you to know I do keep track of what you guys do ;)
I hope every one has a great time! I know I do :D

I have not eaten meat for 21 years and I agree. I do not miss meat at all. In fact if I happen to get something that has the slighest bit of lard or meat products in it, I get very, very ill. I have nothing against folks who like meat, I just couldn't eat it any longer....
I totally I agree with this!! I have been vegetarian for as long as I can remember, my parents wanted to raise us in a vegetarian way, now I am the only one of my siblings who does not eat meat. To me there's several reasons, the most important one being the meat industry here in Holland being totally awful, not only to the annimals, but also causing 10% of the CO2 production in Holland!!
(these are among other reasons)
How ever, I never bug anyone about their eating habits, I never tell any one I think my vision of the food production is superior to theirs, I never want any one to change the way they live/think, however, people seem to think that if they are having dinner with a vegetarian (mostly this happens at restaurants) they are in need to start arguing about wether or not being a vegetarian is a good idea... I usually don't feel like discussing this, to me it was well-thought decision, I should not have to defend myself to anyone whenever I have dinner... Usually people make me feel bad, this I hate, I don't do it to them, I don't get why they do it to me...
this has been really troubeling me for quite sometime now.... so that might be why I come of forcefully... is this the same way in America? We actually have quite a lot of vegetarians here, but this attitude has not changed over the last 10-15 years (before that time, I guess it ws my parents who had to endure it :P )

Thanks, Kerstig. I totally 100% understand and agree !! I too have encountered a lot of negativity and defensiveness because I choose not to eat red meat. I also do not want to tell others what to do or what is best for them. I just know for me personally discontinuing the eating of red meat was the best choice.

Good Afternoon, Everyone! It's been very windy today, and warmer; must be hot air from Washington DC getting mixed in with the regular winter weather. But that's alright, because the sun has also been out all day. It's one of those days that makes you eager for Spring to arrive.

I got a Christmas card in the mail today!!!
What a wonderful surprise. It is from a dear friend I have lost track of the last few years. (good thing one of us stayed put!)
I am going to fire off a letter to her as soon as possible.
oh wow that's lovely :) it's always great hearing from old friends!

hope you feel better soon!!

I won a DVD on Ebay last week of nothing but 2 hours of Christmas music videos, I watched some of it this morning, I love it. It has Where Are You Christmas from Faith Hill. Frosty the Snowman by Leon Redbone, etc... Now I don't have to look them up on Youtube or wait until Christmas day on VH1 Classic, I will have to try to find the second DVD next.
wow that sounds great! congrats! :)
I am still wondering how you got your status as certified yule fool (it does fit you of course :P )

The purpose of all this that I mentioned is now, as of yesterday, I am going to start training to run. I think I am ready for it. I wanted to post somewhere to hold myself accountable to make sure I follow through with it. My brother runs all the time and currently training for a half marathon. (around 13 miles). I am not ready for that long of a run!
You can do it! =) I know you do! I was training for 5k this autumn, but now I have to work this much, I don't really have the energy, so I was thinking about running on saturdays. What really helps me is going together with my boyfriend, so maybe SIT can join :P ?
What also helps is working on a programm maybe by professionals! I had a podcast that was every other day, and she told me 'start to run for 5 minutes', 'now walk for half a minute', this really works well! especially because she also told me 'you can do it!' 'just 30 more seconds!' I would highly recommend it!
Good luck!!

Wish all of you a great day, and a great tomorrow!

is this the same way in America?

I have never had any problems myself. My friends and family are very supportive. I do have some people tease me but it's all in fun and I don't mind one bit. cheesy

Good afternoon, Christmas Family !!

I hope all are doing well. I made it through my very first midnight shift !! My furchildren were all so worried because it was such a drastic change for them. Clancy, my 94 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback, made sure to get in with me this morning and lay with her head on my feet the whole time I was resting. Wishbone, my 14 year old Min Pin/Dachshund (spelling ?) mix also made sure to get in with me. Even Smokey, my Siamese kitty, came in at around 3 a.m. while I was working and looked at me as if to say "what are you doing ?" "You are supposed to be sleeping with us !!"
That is so cute about your furchildren! Sounds just like my dog. If I am not in bed at my usual time he will keep coming in the other room looking for me. Once he gets my attention he runs straight to bed. He will keep this up until I finally go to bed.

I actually started this program before then had to stop because of some health issues. I plan to go back to this again. Right now I am just doing face paced walking and might start this program tomorrow. I know it works for a lot of people so it should work out well for me.

people seem to think that if they are having dinner with a vegetarian (mostly this happens at restaurants) they are in need to start arguing about wether or not being a vegetarian is a good idea... )
Look at them, smile sweetly and ask "do I look sick or unhealthy to you?"cheesy

Christmas-a-Holic - how are you guys faring with the cold and snow!?!? I haven't been on much but I always think about you and the hubby when I hear about all this snow in Texas!

Speaking of snow and cold... I am just about the biggest fan of snow and winter but MY OH MY - Can I handle it much longer!?!?! I think Jude might go out of his mind soon if we don't get some warm weather...
Oooh, the weather just came on - high 40s this weekend and early next week!!!!!!!

I am complaining about the cold and snow but meanwhile, I just can't stand to take my beloved snowmen down around the house, my last bit of Christmas still hangin' on until the end of the month.... :)

The sad thing about gluten-free products is the price!!! On the other note, I know you can do the half marathon. My husband and I did it. At the end, I decided it was NOT for me, but at least I finished the race. I was too tired at the end to eat anything!!!

...But, I found out 5 years ago that I am allergic to dairy, wheat and gluten. I LOVE DAIRY!!! That was a VERY HARD thing to give up! There are a lot of substitutes out there, soy, almond, coconut milk and many other things but the real thing taste the best to me. Wheat and gluten is very hard to stay away from since it is in more stuff than I ever realized. I can't have it though. :-? I am a real pain if I go to a social function and have to turn down most the food offered. I am not a "food snob" it's just that I can't eat a lot of stuff. I have never ever been a picky eater, even as a child I would try anything. Now it looks like I am picky! I am not picky, my system is "picky"!!! If I give in and have a small portion of what I am not allowed to eat I end up getting sick. Not fun!

On the upside, I have tried so many new foods that are amazing so I am not missing out. It's just hard to go places and a lot of restaurants. Living in Dallas does have it's advantages. They have many veggie restaurants with dairy, wheat/gluten free menus.

Well goodnight xmas pals! I'm about to eat dinner and hit the sheets, have a long day tomorrow,I am going out of town till friday, and have not decided if I shall take my laptop to the hotel although it has wifi.If I don't take it I will be backon here friday. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week. As for me I say let it snow, let it snow, let it snow north Ga!!!(still a 80 percent chance of 2 inches!)

Good afternoon, Christmas friends. The wind came up and it has been chilly all day! Such a surprise! I had to suspend two kidlets today who thought it was okay to harass a little girl. These two boys are in constant trouble. Not sure why they continue to act out. I hope the rest of your day is a good one.

I wanted to add that no one should feel badly about not keeping up with posts or not posting. You are all really treasured members of the forum. Granted, we love hearing from you, but you have a life apart of this site. Keeping in touch does not mean posting every single day. I can do quite a few things, but my kids are all grown and I am not having to worry about snow!!!

Christmasstar!!! I have been stressing about a train cake for my little guy and hellooo - should have just asked you if you had any brilliant ideas for me! I always make him (and will do the same for Noel!) a special cake for his bday.. this year it's a train! I am thinking of doing something like this, with modifications. And I'll make homemade pound cake and icing because I get a strange sense of satisfaction doing things from scratch! :)

What do ya think? Any tips for a regular baker? My cakes always look... ok but not stellar!

Thanks for asking. Schools closed down 4 days last week. I have been here all my life and that's a first for it to close that long due to weather. We are getting more of it tomorrow. I am loving it!!! We are doing fine ourselves but the city in general is having a rough time with it all. Blackouts, busted pipes and it caused a lot of problems for the Super Bowl.

We will be up in the mid 60's by this weekend.
