Sitting here listening to my recorded Music Choice Christmas music, just needed something Christmasy on it instantly relaxed me listening to Winter Wonderland when it is 70 something degrees outside. I still have a few things saved from Christmas on the DVR, my wife has asked me when are you going to erase it, I tell her I'm not, I need inspiration for that future store, gotta keep the eyes on the prize. She just rolls her eyes at me and laughs and calls me obsessed. I guess I am a little, but there are a lot more things to be obsessed over that are worse than Christmas and the feeling it brings. Thanks to all who have said happy anniversary to myself and the mrs, 9 years is longer than my parents made it, and we have been together for a total of 11 all together. Working tonight so no going out for the big day, and no watching the game, inventory is one of my biggest responsibilities and I can't miss it, we will have to have a date very soon to celebrate.

LOL - I get eye rolls, too... but I have converted my oldest so far and will make the baby into a Christmas junkie, too! Then we will take over the house! Maybe we can leave a tree up year-round then!

Do you have a picture? Also, do you have a picture of the reverse SC? I am trying to imagine it. I love to do ripple stitch. I did a clam shell baby afghan that turned out great. Have you ever thought of donating the smaller afghans to a Veteran's Home or old folks home. Many of the residents there in wheel chairs like to use them as "lap robes."

I do have pics of various film afghans, but they're on another computer with the rest of my crochet pics. Maybe I should start a crochet photo album here on MMC...

I attached a pic of the crab stitch that I found. You can find directions on the Web or YouTube. It takes a little practice to get it looking neat, but it's worth it---looks like rope, or maybe the edge of a pie crust.

I enjoy the ripple stitch, too---I think every afghan my mom ever made was a ripple. I sometimes do a scrap ripple this way: crochet until I run out of yarn, join white and finish the row, do the next complete row in white, break the yarn, start a new color, repeat until complete. (I've got a photo of one I did---a real riot with solid colors and variegated colors, but it's with my other crochet pics.) I did a baby afghan once that way with leftover baby yarn, and got requests for the "pattern"!

I've donated many small afghans to Project Linus, but I love the idea of sending them to a Veterans' Home. A local tea shop used to collect them for a teen's service project, but they went out of business---too bad, it was so handy just to drop them off.

Maybe we should make some Christmas afghans and sell them in the "For Sale" forum! cheesy

Thanks for the info. I like the idea of Christmas afghans. I have a project due in December, but I can sure work on some for next year!

Amazing story about a friendship between a goose and a man.

This story has been around for a little bit but it's the first time I have heard it. This goose waits for this man to come to the park everyday and follows him everywhere. She doesn't want anyone else around him.

Have you ever tried edging an afghan with reverse single crochet (a.k.a. crab stitch)? It makes a pretty edge. I don't like making fringe at all, so I'm always edging my afghans in other ways.

Scrap afghans are wonderful, and fun to work on. Except that when you use up your stash, you have to make a few projects before you have enough leftovers to make another scrap afghan!

I'm working on a "film afghan" now. It looks like three strips of movie film side by side (with real sprocket holes), with solid color in between and around the strips. There's a round that looks like marquee lights before the border. It's a pattern I devised---I think I've made 15 or 16 of 'em as gifts and auction items.

Fringe is messy, but it is the border of my next afghan - a sports themed throw in Steeler colors. The one I just started has a border with picots and single crochet - looks very pretty. I don't think I will ever run out of yarn - I'm a compulsive buyer Your film reel afghan sounds so cool - I'd love to see a picture of one!

Thank you for posting the picture of the stitch - I couldn't quite see it until you said rope edge. I'm definitely going to have to look it up now! My cousin does a similar afghan to your scrap ripple - she doesn't put any solid colors in between and blindly picks a ball of yarn out of a bag and that is what she uses. Some very odd color combinations, but everyone seems to love them.
