Diana's death was the first "celebrity" death that I remember crying over. As in, seriously crying over. I was 17 and was convinced when I first heard about it that it was some kind of cruel joke. .

I was 22 I think and it was the first major world event I can remember seeing live,I don't remember Reagan getting shot,I was in school in 1st grade when that happened. I was watching tv when the News broke about Diana and stayed up all day until they did said for sure she had died. then the day of her funeral I did get chills and teary eyed when her Casket turned the corner in plain view of all the millions of people on the streets and just hearing everyone passing out and wailing did get to me. Never had seen anything like it before, until Sept 11,2001.

Good morning everyone. I am still in my recliner since I posted last night! I slept pretty good though. I am literally stuck here..I might be a little better though but I don't want to lay down in bed because I am afriad I won't be able to get up. Luckily my gf is coming over soon to help and take the dogs for a walk...I have never been down in my back this bad kind of scary to feel this helpless!I am still in my game clotheslol. There was nothing on tv all night and my tv with the dvd player is in the upstairs den,I had to rely on my dvr recorded programming to watch all night. Turns out I had quite a few Christmas movies recorded in it, so I watched "home alone" and put it on replay all night. such a good movie to have as background noise because of the music and all. I hope everyone has a great second half of the weekend!

Good evening,

I walked into the the worst case scenario at work this morning, my overnight associate went home sick and nothing was done so I had to do all the overnight work and the rest of the work just to start. I am so tired. A well earned day off tomorrow. My Bruins won against the Flyers today.

.

Enjoy your day off today, it sounds like you earned it for sure!

Good Morning, Friends and Christmas Neighbors.

Quiet here this morning where we stand at a coolish 56 degrees, but bound for almost 80 by the predicted sunny afternoon.

Straight ahead to the count:
Days to the Season: 196
Days to Christmas Day: 238
Two weeks from today, Guys -- the half-way Milestone to the Christmas Season!
(HALF way. Gee. Doesn't seem possible, does it?)

Well, gotta run!
You have a Super Sunday, Everyone!

Aww! I feel so bad for you. It is so hard to suffer back problems. I have been down with them before and it HURTS!

You are like me. If I have trouble sleeping I will turn on a Christmas movie, usually a Christmas Story and fall asleep to it then replay it if I wake up again. cheesy

I hope you heal QUICKLY! I said a prayer for you last night and will pray again!

Yesterday evening the tornado sirens went off. It had already rained real hard then the sun was trying to come out when the sirens went off. I couldn't figure out what was going on. The news confirmed it was off to the east and our area was safe. It still made me a little jumpy when I heard it.

We are expected to have severe thunderstorms today. I hope there will be no tornado warnings from it.

If I never hear another tornado siren in my life it will be too soon. There were times last Wednesday when the siren wouldn’t even be cleared from one warning before another sounded.

By now most of the major highways have been cleared of debris. However, crews will be working for months to come to clear the roadside of all the debris that was removed from the lanes of traffic. There are still very large numbers of people without power as crews work to restore downed tower structures and transmission lines. Many larger cities such as Huntsville, AL have a dusk to dawn curfew. To be out on the streets at night without working traffic signals is just too dangerous .

A major route is being shut down locally this morning while cadaver dogs search for more victims. The death numbers you are seeing reported are only the confirmed. Sadly, this same scenario is being played out throughout Central and Northern Alabama as well as parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Some local TV and radio stations finally started showing regular programs on a limited basis yesterday but for the most part are broadcasting local recovery information.

Understand that all is well in my part of the state…considering. The carnage and destruction begins one county down and one county over from me in Alabama and two counties southwest into Mississippi. The small towns of Smithville, Mississippi, Hackleburg, Alabama, and Phil Campbell, Alabama are no more. These close knit communities are hurting. Literally every person left of the population has suffered loss of family members and property. Three people from the office where I work lost homes or suffered serious property damage. One man from the office from which I retired lost his mother. Her funeral is today. Certainly there are many small communities across the region experiencing the same trial.

Forgive me for being a downer but this is the first time I have even been emotionally recovered enough to talk about it. My FaceBook status of last Thursday was all I could say at the time. My wife, children, grandchildren, and brother (though his power is off) are safe. We are blessed.

I sure would like to hear from Sugarplum Fairy. I did hear from primchristmas in hard hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama (about 110 miles south of me) yesterday. Her power was out and she has been out in the community helping her friends in true need. The Christmas Spirit personified!

I hope the sirens don't go off today, that must really be quite scary when that happens.

Thanks for the update RJD, my thoughts are with everyone down there.

My heart is hurting for you all. Peace be with you!

Where would be the best place to hold an MMC convention? cheesy

Santa Claus, Indiana, of course! cheesy

If you ever held a convention there, I wonder if you could get special rates and privileges because we're a Christmas group ... ?

There are probably other Christmas-sounding place names, too. I'll post 'em if I can remember any.

Don't worry about being a downer. I appreciate hearing the news, and it's good to share what you're going through. "Shared pain is diminished; shared joy is increased," says Spider Robinson. Even when you are safe, it hurts to think about those who are suffering.
