I see that Netflix recently released the latest Disney's A Christmas Carol movie with Jim Carrey on "watch instantly" streaming.

I know not everyone liked it, but it's hard for me to not like a Christmas movie! I might have to put it at the top of my instant queue. cheesy
Ooh, I have this set ot record next weekend on Starz, I think!
Good afternoon, Christmas friends!

My tiny little flood in the basement turned into a rather big one in a matter of hours. Burned up the old sump pump and had to get a new one, but at least the water is back down to a tiny little flood. While I was hanging over the banister, watching the water flow to make sure I didn't burn up the new pump, I figured out where to put all the big platters that I have - yay! I consider that a successful afternoon cheesy

Have a great evening!!!!!!!!
Sorry about your flood, but glad ya found a place for your platters! :snowball:

I have a wet basement, too, and it's a PAIN IN THE BUTT!

Good late afternoon, Christmas friends. It has been chilly and rainy most of the day here in northern California. I had a toothache most of last week and all of the weekend. I knew I had lost a filling, so I feared a root canal was in my future. And it is. Not looking forward to that. My son and his girlfriend will be here tomorrow on their way to Maryland. Then on Wednesday, hubby and I are headed out of town. We have to take two furlough (non-paid) days on Thursday and Friday, so we are using that time for a conference in Fresno. Thanks for the recipe, Dawg. I will try it, but not right away. Congrats to the new additions to the crew here at MMC. They have already shown their true Christmas spirit here! We are such a lucky group, don't y'all agree? I hope to have time to post tomorrow morning. I just ran out of time this morning! Have a great evening, everyone!
Yuck, I'm sorry about that root canal!!!

xmas365 - thanks for posting the Dreambook! Oh, how I wish money grew on trees and I could purchase all the ornaments I wanted to! There are sooo many beautiful ones, as usual.

I had such a nice day - got to get out for a walk and out to the park fo ra bit, my grandmom came to visit, and then my uncle and his girlfriend got to come play with the kids for a few hours. We rarely get to see them, so the kids were sooo happy! They went to a Christmas warehouse a few months ago and brought me a bunch of ornaments, too!! YIPPIEEE!!

Now the rain has started... supposed to rain all week, so we'll be doing a lot of playing inside!

Sorry about your toothache. My son-in-law and my grandson has suffered a severe one last week. They both had to visit the dentist and my grandson got his pulled. They are both doing much better now. I hope you get better soon!

Thanks for the congrats! cheesy

I can't believe I forgot to tell you this the other night...but yeah it's wierd I never usually go on baytree road during the day but when my good friend from tn was here last weekend we were driving down by zaxby's at 10 am and they had just put the fire out but it was burned to the ground. No one was injured. I use to eat there everyday.I go to the one off perimeter..oh in other valdosta news...although this is trashy..I only mention it because of where it happened at. Do you remember where woodvalley is...gornto rd/jerry jones road where all the million dollar old homes are? they had a meth drug bust there last week and they arrested like 50 ppl..From what I read most meth drug labs are in dingy secluded places because it's so dangerous to make or whatever, so that is what I just can't believe in the middle of town in the so called nice section.:-? Oh I love your cat's name too btw!!!

Oh my goodness...yeah I used to eat there a lot since it was right by campus. That is so crazy...glad no one was hurt but that is just awful. I have good memories there!

I do know where Wood Valley is, I had some friends who lived near there, and I can't believe there were meth labs there! LMAO I always thought the bad place was Castlewood (I think that's the apartment name...it's on Park Avenue near the intersection with Lee St...right off Ashley St)!!!

Hahaha, thank you! I named her after my favorite wine. I think it's a nice, non-traditional name. cheesy

I pay homage to my portuguese/colombian roots in my foods,so this is spicy!!! leave off the cayenne pepper if you want it milder.

8 oz. boneless beef top sirloin or top round steak
Nonstick cooking spray
1 medium onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, sliced
1 tsp. bottled minced garlic
1 cup water
1 15 1/4-oz. can pineapple tidbits (juice pack), undrained
1 15- to 15 3/4-oz. can chili beans with chili gravy, undrained
1 14 1/2-oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 8-oz. can tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. packed brown sugar
2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
Dairy sour cream (optional)

directions

  1. Trim fat from meat. Cut meat into 3/4-inch pieces.. Cook and stir until meat is brown and onion is tender.
  2. Carefully stir in the water, pineapple, chili beans with gravy, tomatoes, tomato sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, salt, and cayenne pepper. And I cook it on Low all day(8hours) in the crock pot.I sometimes use fresh tomatoes from my garden when in season...makes sooo much difference too.

Sounds good!!! I'll have to try it sometime.

I was posting elsewhere and happened to look up to see post # 9,999.

I must make my 10,000 post on this great thread!

I have never made it a goal to see how many post I can get, it just happens and goes to show how much I love chatting with you all! Then with all that, I am amazed at how much chatting goes on by posting this much! cheesy

Congrats!

Ouch!!! I hope you can get it over with soon.

How is your knee doing?

Coach- How is the flooding in your area now?

I wish you could come here and have my dentist do it. I've been unfortunate enough to require several root canals over the years (my teeth never developed a hard coat of enamel), and my dentist's root canals hurt LESS than fillings from other dentists. I wouldn't trade him for any other dentist. (I'll be in trouble if he retires!) Good luck, and I hope it goes smoothly and painlessly as possible.

Okay, I'm not sure if there's a thread for this elsewhere on the forum, but does anyone here watch Castle? And if so, do you want to scream and go crazy with me over it? Because there's no way I'm going to sleep after watching that!!!!

tonight is not off to a good start so far. We went to sleep early but GF is up sick,I got up too and decided to mix together stuff for dinner so all I have to do tomorrow morning is stick it in the slow cooker. It feels great outside tonight when I walked the dogs its around 58F and the moon looks Awesome!
