I got some not so good news from my doctor over the phone the day before Christmas Eve. She was vague, so I don't have all of the details, but will share more when I know more. That has been on our minds ever since, so Christmas was bittersweet. Not trying to be a downer..

Keep us posted. I hope you are okay!

Taking down the Christmas tree…

Today we are taking down the Christmas tree… Sad you say?!?! Well, never mind that let me show you what to wrap and where to put this and that…
First we take the love we shared, careful now, place it here, in this box we will wrap it up, but not all you see I’ve left just enough to last the year well plant it later say April or May we will watch it grow, this stuff is powerful and spreads out so nice that before you know it well have those cool nights where will pull in the love from our Fall harvest and gift wrap it out for our next Christmas Service.
Ahhh, the memories, and yes those will be next but watch them my dear they like to play tricks – just when you think you tucked them away they pop back out and have you smiling in July of the Christmas fun you had this year. All the memories you’ll look back on in the times to come, of Christmas and all it’s fun. Memories of days gone by, all to swiftly you will think, but cry not my dear look how this box is now overflowing – oh here is a memory gosh is it already 10 years old, oh here is a baby one just a mere two years, and yes here is one I kept from childhood, now never mind how old that one is, let’s look at yours we do not have far to dig, here is one and yes here’s another, oh that pesky cat she has grabbed two of them!!! Catch her now don’t let her lose them these will be our family’s prized positions.
Now on to cheer!!! Let’s place it here let’s leave a spot for joy – I like to keep them on top!!! They are easy to get too and oh my once they’re out they go gadding about… To the neighbors off they will rush, right down the block and up the next before you know it they are back at the door and oh my how much they have brought, look at this here a new little cheer will keep this next to the older ones. Yes, place joy here, yes I love the way they look just like a perfect couple.
But every couple needs a third I think… So please let’s place peace right near them like that… Now look at that picture… Cheer, Joy, and Peace… It makes my heart smile to know they are close by never too far for my Christmas Heart to grab at.
Oh no, please do not lock these boxes… No, locks are for things you do not want others to have I want these to spread all over the land… No locks on my packed away Christmas things… Share them we must and let them breath packing them too tightly away you may forget about them in years to come and how awful that would be.
Now for the tree, yes she (well I am a girl you can make yours a boy) was beautiful… I will store her away for a new batch of Christmas things when next year I can put even more love, memories, peace, and joy on her… Oh what a site she will make. Now years ago I had real trees, no garbage for them oh no, no, sir… Recycled back to Mother Earth to keep the cycle going of new birth.
What is it you say, my ornaments? What of these? Place them in these trucks right here for these I will wrap with care, my angels, my doves, the shiny bright balls, the beads, the Jacob Marley, my Pooh, my Piglet, this trinket, that one too… Wrap my elves, my Santa, my bears; wrap them all with loving care… Take a little love some joy some peace, place them in between.
You see my dear, that wasn’t so bad look at you laughing and having fun!!! I thought you said this would be sad??? Putting away your Christmas Tree may not be the happiest day for you or me, but putting it away lets us see all the wonderful things it has been, the memories of yesterday, we have now in our hearts. Bring it out all year long and never will Christmas be far.

A few years ago I did this for a group of Sunday School Children, I was filling in for the regular Sunday School Teacher and well the little ones were all upset as Three Kings day was coming and that is when a lot of the people in my Church take down the tree. So, I thought of this and put it on the black board and read it to them. Now some of those "little ones" ones are growing and two of them asked me for copies. I cannot believe they remembered it!! I have to say it made me glad.

I nominate you to head the Taking Down the Christmas Tree support group. cheesy

I'll make sure to call the fire department first.

HA, HA, HA!!!! Hello my name is Lauriebear, and I am here to help you during this most difficult time of the Christmas Season...

I am heading to the Pines...I will be back in a little bit! :!!

Before I go to bed though I forgot to mention that my mom sent my presents fedex this year and on the 23rd I got 3 scented yankee candles.(which I never buy myself since they are too expensive) I have sage, lily, and ocean air, needless to say I have been burning them nonstop.. if I ever make it back to Mass. I want to visit the flagship store in Deerfield. I think I could do massive damage there! especially if it is in October!

I live less than an hour from the flagship! We love going there, Santa is there year round, they have the biggest Christmas store in the state, it "snows" inside of the Christmas tree room. It is so much more than candles, they have a toy store, a home store, candy store, bakery, fudge shop, and a restaurant. I you go there you will NOT be disappointed.

OMG I didn't know that!!! I have like no joke 6 of their Christmas Ones now I LOVED the one Christmas one called White Christmas and Sparkling Snow... I must have bought four each of them!!! They are so nice.

All I got to say is picture taking with a 3 year old is something that should never be done. cheesy Just resting now, still in a lot of pain though. Had me some Taco Bell for lunch, it was so good for a change, When I was in my late teens, I lost about 60lbs in 3 months, that was one of the only places I would eat, my friends were worried about me and so happy to see me eat 6-7 tacos in one sitting.

Enjoy the rest of the day!

With my wife being a teacher, she gets multiple candles as gifts from her students every year. Macintosh is my all time favorite scent, followed by Christmas Wreath.

The last Pines Day of 2011 was one I will never forget! If you haven't stopped by yet, you still have time! Carl is passing out champagne!

Hi, my name is Christmasstar and I am addicted to Christmas....

I am having a great day! Spent most of it at home, getting a lot of little jobs done. It is snowing and everything is looking so pretty outside. Dinner (left over turkey casserole) is in the oven cooking. All my kids are home. Life is good.

That is so great to hear! I am sure it was wonderful to have all of your kids home!

Casting Crowns does a great version of "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," one of my favorites. It's on MCR right now.
That is one of my favorites as well

I am still feeling quite uncomfortable, slowly but surely getting better
:tree:

Hope you are feeling better today!

Hey, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful day. I was hoping to relax, but it didn't turn out that way. I promised my mom that I would dye her hair for her - long story short, I started to feel extremely lightheaded about halfway through and I thought I was going to pass out. I couldn't leave her hair undone, so I had to keep getting up from the couch and working on it for a minute or so at a time. Hopefully it was just a fluke from the chemicals in the hair dye -- don't want to be out and about and experiencing that! If my couch wasn't thirty seconds away, I would have been in some trouble. I've dyed her hair in the past with the same stuff before, though, so I'm wondering why now and not then!

My family and I just sat in the living room, snacked on some cheese and crackers, and watched the Penguins game. Now that it's over, I'm going to watch Home Alone 1.

Have a good night, everyone!

Hope you are feeling better today!

Just checking in before I head home, because when I get there, I think I will lie down.

I'm not thinking much about taking my trees down yet, but I like to leave mine up over New Year's Day at least. So they'll probably come down the weekend of the 7th. By then, things are back to non-holiday status all over (well, except here at MMC!), and it feels right to pack it all away so it can recharge its magic for next year.

I hope you are better soon, Merry!

Thanks! I made it through the day, and the headache finally subsided, but I've been kinda groggy ever since.

I will take it easy after the pictures are done.

Promise? :point:

Thanks, Merry. I appreciate that. And I don't know if this is the right way to say it, but I mean it from the heart.. (((Congrats)))!!

Thanks!

I could tell she didn't want to talk about it on the phone, and it was like pulling teeth to get what I got.

In my experience, doctors just don't want to discuss bad news on the telephone. That's probably a good policy. It's frustrating for the patient, but protects the doctor from being misunderstood through not being in the same room.

Don't get too stressed out until you know the whole story. Some melanomas are very easy to remove, others are not. Hoping that if you have any, yours are in the "easy" category.
