The Baptist Cowboy
A cowboy, who just moved to Wyoming from Texas, walks into a bar and orders three mugs of Bud. He sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more.
The bartender approaches and tells the cowboy, "You know, a mug goes flat after I draw it. It would taste better if you bought one at a time."
The cowboy replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in Arizona, the other is in Colorado . When we all left our home in Texas, we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days when we drank together. So I'm drinking one beer for each of my brothers and one for myself."
The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there..
The cowboy becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way. He orders three mugs and drinks them in turn.
One day, he comes in and only orders two mugs. All the regulars take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss."
The cowboy looks quite puzzled for a moment, then a light dawns in his eyes and he laughs.
"Oh, no, everybody's just fine," he explains, "It's just that my wife and I joined the Baptist Church and I had to quit drinking."
"Hasn't affected my brothers though."

I just got an urgent call from Carl, He can't believe that hostess is closing. He's going to try to buy the Twinkie formula from them but to hold the Pines over, he's asking for everyone to run to their grocery stores and buy as many twinkies as you can!!!! He will gladly reimburse you.

I love Hostess Cupcakes, I hope someone buys the recipes soon.

Good evening, MMC! How are you all? I am well. Just sitting here relaxing, watching Hallmark and getting ready to make a cup of coffee.

Nothing too much new here. I had a busy night at work last night - DH had a busy one as well - they had a bad fire right at the end of his shift. It ended up begining a fatality, which it was a 3 yo. I feel so horrible for this family and the fireman and all the emergency crew. It so horrible when this type of thing happens. God Bless them and prayers. My husband seems to be doing okay today. He usually hides his emotions pretty well, which sometimes scares me.

As you probably saw in my earlier post, I went to EA's Thanksgiving party at preschool today. It was really nice and enjoyable. I got to help serve the meal to the kids and then I got to sit and eat with her. She loved that I was there, but she always seems to get very tearful when I take her to preschool or when I stop by. The teacher says she is only like that when I take her. I am not sure what causes that. EA says it is because she wants me around - she is usually more attached to her Daddy, so who knows!

I work tonight again, so so DH, so my sister is watching the kids. She actually took them for a while to her boyfriends. I thought I would catch up here for a little while for lying down for nap.

Thank you so much ... some of the folks here created a little website (with photos and a bio! he was rescued from hard work and abuse when he was young) to collect donations from the employees here for Guinn's surgery. It's scheduled for the 28th, unless there's a crisis before then.

Now that there are a lot of Christmas movies on tv, TMC is showing a somewhat Christmas movie tomorrow at 3:45PM EST called A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. This is an oldy but goody family movie starring Dorothy McGuire.

That fire I had mentioned on here yesterday, they found out was arson. A man set fire to the house thinking his girlfriend was living there. It took the life of a 3 yo and his mom is still in critical condition. So sad. Prayers, prayers, prayers!

Hi everyone just sitting here watching an old movie Smokey Mountain Christmas with Dolly Parton. I love, these older movies from the 80's. There is another one I like with John Denver, he takes his little girl from NYC to Denver and the town is all decked out for Christmas. I forget the name of that one but I haven't seen it on yet. I also watched the movie National Tree, I like that one too.

if i'm not mistaken i do believe Dawg's new baby is due right about now! hope all is well w/ the family & may God bless them all!

omgoodness, i've gotta start cleaning out stuff to make room for my STOCKPILE now. the couponing class was a big hit. i will never look @ coupons the same way. the lady did tell us to forget about the extreme couponing show...that's waaay to hard to do but we can def cut our costs 50-75%. can you believe that???! she's only been doing this for a year now & has a stockpile in 2 rooms & an extra bathroom. it's crazy easy & she is so organized in her methods so it makes it easy to do myself. now to just find the extra space. since it must be climate controlled my hubby's shop is off limits. bummer!


daughter is feeling better & getting her appetite back now. i tell ya', if it's out there that girl is gonna get it. bless her heart!

gonna go cut coupons now, yaay me!

Just a couple more days slinging turkeys, I believe we sold over 200 today, including 60 to one company. I am so exhausted it is not funny anymore, it has never been this rough before and this is my fifth year being in charge of the turkeys.
Just watching Christmas music videos On Demand right now, I love all this holiday stuff coming on TV now, you should see my DVR all primed and ready to record the good stuff, I recorded The Night They Saved Christmas Last Night, I saw that for the first time 2 years ago and really liked it. Too bad it is not available on DVD unless you want to shell out a small fortune.

I must head to bed now.

yes!!!!!! someone else who wraps lights up and down the trunk!! alas, I probably won't do that this year, because I have a prelit tree that comes in 3 sections, where the branches stay attached to the trunk. My son and I put lights up the trunk last year, which was a ton of work, and they were an absolute nightmare to take off. I never want to deal with that again.

My wife is away for a ladies Bible conference all weekend so my son and I are on our own. Our high school was eliminated from the state football playoffs last week but a neighboring county is still in it so we will probably go watch their game tonight. Not sure what we will do Saturday. My son would like to make the 1.5 hour drive and go to the shopping mall. We may do that and make a day of it.

Good evening Christmas Family

An uneventful and quiet afternoon and evening today and a much needed day of rest for me. This morning after my husband left, I made a fire, put on Christmas music then gathered my children around me and we listened to the music and the cracking of the fire all huddled together. Can't explain how it feels to have all my furkids near me like that......It is so unconditionally loving it is unbelievable !!! I was completely at peace.

Later as I have a new desktop computer (it is one of those all in one computers - no tower !) I had a couple of new programs to install which went fine. I also worked on MMC Christmas cards.

I am watching a movie I DVR'D a couple of nights back on Hallmark, Farewell Mr. Kringle. It is quite charming and may be a Christmas staple for me.

If you get a chance to watch a movie on Hallmark called November Christmas, check it out. It is quite touching plus Sam Elliott is in it and I think he is always AMAZING.

Right now Hermione is snuggled up to the fire, Wish and Clancy are on teh couch and my two nighttime warrier kitties, Lily and Smokey, are even sleeping ! Guess they decided to give the mice a night off....

Sugar- Praying for your DH. Also thanking him for doing such a very hard, dangerous and emotionally draining job. I am so very sad about the little 3-year-old. I cant remember if you mentioned if the baby was a boy or girl but no matter, in my belief he/she is now with the very author of Life and has nothing to fear.

I agree with Xmas - I have a few choice names for the jerk who caused the fire. INHO ANYONE who hurts a child or a furkid (the same to me) not only has three strikes but is out for the whole ball game. Grrrrrr

Don't worry, Little Debbie has been preparing for this. The came out with their versions of the Twinkie, Cupcakes, and Ding Dongs last year. Then here a couple of weeks ago they introduced their version of the crumb cake. So I'm sure their company executives are out partying tonight.

Just get used to say Cloud cakes(twinkie), Cocoa Cremes (Ding Dongs), and Cinnamon Streusel Cakes (Crump cakes). Cupcakes are still cupcakes though. Now they just need to come out with an orange cupcake.
